A. Diaz I have been rebuilding /repairing hydrostatic components for 50 plus years. I would challenge you to remove those case bolts without a cheater. If a 6 point socket is used there is no danger of damage. This guy obviously has done this a few times. He knows what he is doing.

Awesome you have been repairing hydrostatic pumps for 50 years, why haven't you done hydrodynamic pumps? Also I am not challenging that this tech. is familiar with disassembly of a pump, only that his orientation of the adjustable wrench is not the best way and that there are tools vastly superior for that instance. ALSO, i will gladly accept your challenge of not using a cheater pipe. A quick hammer strike on combination wrench will usually get the bolt loose.
Glad I'm not the only one that cringed at that. Also! maybe shouldn't have spray painted near the shaft without putting painters tape/cardboard on the shiny
@@jimmycricket5366 Rookie mistake. You don't want to use brass. If a shaving of that brass comes off, then it would be in the pump, and kill it. The hammer was perfect. I don't know who needs to hear this, but the bearing race is MUCH harder material than that hammer, and therefore won't dent.
@@Titan-vi7vh If you hit it wrong you might get a sliver of brass coming off otherwise make one out of mild steel which is a lot softer than bearing steel. By the way it is still possible to dent or distort a harder metal with a slightly softer one if you give it a blow with the hammer being made of the sightly softer material.

I would honestly like to know how many of the people in the comments section have jobs, tools, are on RU-vid or/and follow their own advice while working on the clock doing the same work to the same type of equipment for years on end and **know** how/what/when/where and why presses work! Normally it'd take longer this guy is master of his trade but most shops that repair anything from cars to these pumps will charge you book hours even if it was finished early
I’m impressed by the efficiency of the motions. It’s obviously not your first time. Forgive me if I’m mistaken but you consistently put the adjustable side of the wrench on the side away from the movement which I was taught would ruin the tool and often the bolt head. Did I have that backward?
Better you than me. I work at Eaton aerospace, at our plant we build aircraft fuel and scavenger pumps. Fortunately the pumps we make weigh soo much less than our hydraulic pumps. Nice job!

Soft jaws, if you have a main stream branded vise they are probably available thru its manufacturer, like the wiltons in the video you can get in brass, aluminum, rubber, plastic, all kinds. There are also universal clip on soft jaws that just fit 4”,5” whatever size jaws ya got available super cheap on eBay but ya get what ya pay for both ways.
trick is getting all the metal chips out of machine after a failure.. Shoes on pistons should be replaced general practice.I did Rexroth and Kawasaki pumps myself in shop . Still going . Bronze in oil tell tale shoe failure. Disaster when filings chips circulate through a large excavator. Nice work Thanks

Yep. Contact dermatitis will occur eventually, but the absorbed compounds will be active internally regardless of outward appearance. My co-workers call me a bitch for wearing gloves. I tell them I don't really give a shit that they enjoy abusing their body; I do not.
After years in contact with hydraulic oil, i am now allergic with almost every type of oil.... So please use gloves... Allergies and dermatitis are nothing compare to cancer...
Yep it's tough to sleep when the carpal tunnel gets too bad I had surgery on both hands last year it took almost a whole year to fully recover but my hands never go numb anymore 👍
Another "mechanic" who doesn't know the proper way to use an adjustable wrench. TBH, a real technician would only use one in a pinch, get the right size wrench out of your tool box.

SnapOn torque wrench... Worst ever. Many years ago, I ruined a Cont. 0-200 aircraft engine case using a brand-new SnapOn torque wrench that completely malfunctioned. Sure, they gave me a new one, but I had to eat a $1000 worth of parts.
A colleague of mine died of cancer 5 years ago. He first started getting an allergic reaction to the hydraulic oil and later a sharp pain in his arms due to bone cancer. He was 62 when he passed and had worked with hydraulics all his life. So yes! Use gloves when you’re working with hydraulic fluids.

Axial piston, variable displacement, pressure compensated ? done a few rexroths in the middle of the night in an emergency. Good to watch someone who does them regularly.
What no lapping machine to dress the piston shoes or flatten the bottom of the piston block? This type of eaton pump looks like Dynapower had a love child with a Hydromatik. Former hydrostatic mechanic here, (80”s thru 90”s) my how things have changed!
No se pero aveces el técnico es muy brusco con algunas piezas del elemento, tira las piezas como si fueran de goma, usa el martillo de fierro al momento de colocar la pista del rodaje sin un control, ahí es donde se deforman milésimas los componentes, pero se nota que ya tiene experiencia y conocimiento en su trabajo!

I changed so many of those pumps where I work you wouldn't believe. It's not a problem with the pumps It's the operators not doing their job checking the fluid level and changing filters 😅 great pumps
Hey what's the model on this pump? I've done a lot of C pumps and positive displacement's, Diaphragms, and a couple of ram pumps - but this is a different assembly than I've seen. If you still update awesome!
hammering is not a good idea at 5.38 :/ small wounds will returns the pump to you in bad condition. With small amount of liquid nitrogen make super cool the ring and drop it in its nest..
open /box end wrenches and sockets are less likely to round out nuts bolts and plugs . Beating on a bearing race with a hammer directly is bogus . the parts that were not scarred now are.
