What a ride! Wild storm on August 16th in Northern BC. We were tent-bound for 5 days while a series of winter-like storms blasted us with snow and wind gusts to 100km/hr. The Seek Outside Tipi tent was a saviour. seekoutside.co... The tent held up to the wind and kept the precipitation out for the storm's duration. We removed the stove pipe when the winds reached 50 km/hr. Once things settled back down, it was nice to fire up the stove and wait out the rest of the storm.

We ran guy lines off every possible point of this tent and put giant rocks on all the tent pegs to hold them down. We still had to take turns holding the main tent pole to keep it from flexing and shattering. The storm went on for 5 days, and the weather forecast was for more of the front to hit us over the next few days. Thankfully, a small break in the system allowed our pilot to pick us up. Happy to be safe and sound with the crew. As for the caribou adventure... we had an adventure, but our caribou will still be roaming next year. The story to come on the EatWild podcast.
I have ridden out lesser storms in the confines of the 2-person MSR Elixir mountain tent. It is certainly nicer to have space and company around the stove for an extended storm like this.
The Seek Outside 8-Person Tipi Tent truly kept us safe on this trip, and despite being tent-bound for 5 days, we still had a great adventure.

On snow or frozen ground with stove I would imagine it would turn inside into a mudhole.

Big Jim Slade not at all. Once the ground dries out it stays pretty nice. The stove helps keep things dry.
