The MLB Power Pros failed to compete commercially in the west against other MLB based baseball franchises. :( At least, Konami released WBSC eBASEBALL Power Pros worldwide in 2023. :)
I'm not even a sports guy, but there's something about these games that has always made me wish we would just get them over here in the states. Western sports games are so damn adamant about being a "simulation", and in the few cases that they're not, they're always the most generic, boring looking and playing games you can get. Then you got something like this series, or Namco's baseball series Family Stadium(which only ever had one release in the US, the very first RBI Baseball on the NES, with all future entries in the RBI series being made by less talented developers) in Japan, and the actual gameplay of the sport feels fun to play, even for a layman. These games have that kawaii look I appreciate, but they also have some depth to the gameplay, but not too much where you have to be an avid fan of the sport to appreciate. Hard to explain, but I wish they would stop making sports game try and play like the actual sport, and make a fun video game first and foremost. They also have the fun story modes where you work your way up as a single player/character, and also try to balance your life outside of the sport as well. Stop caring about if they got some overpaid player's facial hair just right, these cute designs have been around for almost 20 years, and are still just as appealing.
25 or so years ago I remember playing a similar looking Japanese baseball game on N64 at a friend's house. It was shockingly engrossing. I feel like it had to be this series. I can still hear the announcer yelling "Homerun" in english amidst rapid fire Japanese commentary.
Great review Jordan, this makes me miss MLB Power Pros back on the Wii. Lot of fond memories playing that one. Wish they’d just English patch this one. May still import it since it’s just baseball.
This looks so cool! The language barrier doesn't look like it'd bother me, it's just that price tag! Can't justify it right now, maybe... in the future (done in Jordan's voice and echo 😁).

I just sent Konami an email begging for this game haha. I think it's so ridiculous that there are series of games that don't leave Japan still. I'm playing the stripped down version of the game, wondering why I don't have access to the full experience, and really annoyed that I don't. Konami forcing me to go out and buy the Japanese version of the game just so I can experience it.
It might not be the most accurate baseball simulator compare to everything EA and 2K made, but as a baseball GAME I believe Pawapuro series kicked all their asses.
I remember and have the wii one (and i don't even like baseball but i like this franchise and these games ) , i think it was the last that they brought to America , hopefully Konami changes a little and releases this one here

Its a gallery shooting game. Has a shit ton of charm. Would love to see you lads tackle it
I would love to see Nintendo bring back Mario Baseball.... but like it was on the Gamecube, no motion controls, a huge roster of characters that you can make a team out of... that game was great.
Great review. Just a heads up, American sports are generally called “games” instead of “matches”. Game looks fun, I think I would be more interested if it had English. I love sports games with a story mode. Excellent jokes as usual! The RickRoll was spectacular!
Hello there I was thinking of buying this game as a gift to someone, I do remember that the MLB on the wii back in the day used to be playable in english, I was wondering if this new Ebaseball Powerful pro Baseball 2022 was going to be available in english
I'm so sad this series isn't in the west. I got like 1 or 2 of these games for my ds. such fun altho I can't do anything but play random matches cuz I don't know Japanese lol. I wish it would hit the west so bad. it reminds me of extra innings from the snes
@@SwitchWatch Yeah, I am sure I could figure out the basic baseball part, but there is so much extra content in there that looks fun that would be difficult for me to try without a translation. I have a hard enough time finding time to play games when I want. It would take longer for me to translate all the menus and text for the story mode/etc. Just no time for that!
if you want to try it out yourself before buying it, i recommend trying the Nintendo Wii version, its an old game but still pretty much play the same the name is *"MLB power pros and MLB power pros 2008"* of course it has more shitty graphic but you can at least get the taste of what this game would play if you decided to buy the game on switch
If you haven't try out Captain Tsubasa for Switch (its on PS4 too) its for Soccer, and while not SD, it has that Japanese quirkiness with super moves. Made by Namco Bandai & based off a popular sports anime. Yeah in English too.. Almost forgot😅
doubt it, if after a decade they hasn't even give us a single rumor of English release then its not gonna happen, the only way is that if the game somehow become some what popular in English community then maybe we can get something, but of course its little to no chance as most people Will turn off the game cause its doesn't have English translator (and fantranslator doesn't even exist T-T)
