I had to repair my eBay 2600 as well, but mine was easy. Remove the socketed chips, wash the PCB, reflow the solder on 3 switches and recap just due to the age, and added a composite out mod. These little machines can take a beating and keep ticking.
Hiya. I've just watched both videos and the teardown was fascinating. Apologies if I've missed something but, What makes you think it's actually broken? The ebay seller said it wasn't getting power, you diagnosed that immediately as a faulty PSU. Is diagnostic step 2 not "plug it into a TV"?
Yeah that’s right, to test it I tried to tune it in to two TVs I have that still support analogue. Neither of them were able to acquire a picture running an autotune with the console connected directly to the aerial socket.
