On the face of it this looks like one big nightmare and yet another kick in the teeth for business sellers specifically. Confusing messages from eBay yet again, email I received states sales to EU. But when creating listings it all ready states Item disclosures… provide more details about your items safety and quality standards if you post in the EU/UK.

We're a product manufacturer, based in Central Europe, facing this crap too. Communicating with eBay, zero luck. They just don't seem to understand it themselves. For about 3 weeks, on both our UK and German eBay sites, we had dropdown menus (3) for uploading the details for this new program, however, I see today, they're gone. I wanted to start testing. We're a significantly large seller on the platform, and seemingly have no choice. But, with 5 Billion items listed across Hundreds of platforms, we know this cannot be possible to Police. Like GDPR. Governments have too much time on their hands. eBay's own videos have zero substance.... Kind of funny to watch what they've done, there's just nothing to take away from them.

It’s literally impossible to comply with for the majority of sellers. I have tested a few listings. Takes around 10 times the time to list 1 item and then in most cases you can’t even fill out all the info required. Let’s see what happens in the coming weeks.

I have just edited my postage policy to exclude Europe and Norther Ireland, not intertested in wasting all that time complying with silly rules.

Chris - I thought I was being stupid - its an utterly impossible system. We have 20k items and all different - it would take a team of people to keep it up to date. We will be forced to sell only to England Scotland and Wales :-(

Hi. I was looking for information about gpsr again and I stumbled on this video. I’m a part time seller in Germany since a year and this was my dream since years. And now it’s getting destroyed. Im having an income cause I’m a part time elderly care worker. But like you doing it full time, that’s harder. So f…up. But thanks for this video!

It’s a massive shame, I sell a lot to Germany but if this happens then I have to turn Europe off. Do these rules apply to you selling within your own country too??

I think all those who are saying that they will just stop selling in the EU/NI are just fooling themselves as like all changes this could become a regulation that GB could also adopt at some point. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with my current products but I'm going to try and add information where available on new listings. But I'm far from happy with this introduction. They should have brought this into effect for importers and manufacturers first so that products manufactured would have this info on packets first and then 6-12 months later brought it in for retailers as the info would now be freely coming through the system and may have made items easier to update/list.

This needs to be eBay's responsibility to auto fill the info from the brand name we input on their platform. As business sellers we pay our fees to enable us to sell on their site. We pay these fees to eBay for them to develop the platform for us to use it successfully. Why would they ask thousands of people to do this on every listing when they just need to develop it once and for it to auto fill.

What is stopping these companies/Brands Vero(ing) there products on eBay as they don't want to be the "responsible" contact on their second hand goods 🤨 And an Animal Bi Product is leather?? so does that exclude any leather goods 🤔 Someone made a good comment regarding controlling the second hand market..... Value of the secondhand apparel market worldwide from 2021 to 2028. In 2023, the global market value of secondhand and resale apparel was estimated to be worth 197 billion U.S. dollars. This value is projected to rise rapidly in the coming years, increasing by roughly 100 billion dollars by 2026.....From Google!

Do you think eBay is going to enforce this by adding "required item specifics" to items that this will apply to? If its all items then I think a lot of sellers will just end up getting forced to block every EU country across the board, the same as we did to Germany when that ridiculous packaging act came in.

Not sure how it’s going to go to be honest. It is meant to apply to most categories, there are some excluded but most people don’t sell in those categories. In regards the packaging act I just signed up for a licence online, costs about £12 a year and for me well worth the spend. This ruling feels very different to that though. The fact that they have already built it into the listing process seems to me like it’s pretty serious.

It only applies to new commerical products sold after 13th December 2024, if the item is second hand and already sold in a commerical sense before that date, it doesn't apply.

I think it should apply to dangerous items such as electricals, chemical products like cleaning products and things that can harm the public. But to apply it to clothes and other categorys is crazy. I have 3000 items listed, imagine how long it would take to add GPSR to 3000 items.And with clothes often the wash labels are white and the details has washed away.

You made a good point with the cheap China crap, maybe it's to stop the dangerous stuff coming into Europe. I once bought a new soldering iron from ebay and the handle melted in my hand with the very first use.

these items , as well as fake medicines for instance, are coming in european harbours every minute, every day, container-wise, under our very noses for decades. These rules will change nothing about that.

Im turning of Europe from NOW- Ebay wont do anything! they only see Fees intake! Rest dont matter. Fee for everything under different names. We need a New ebay Like Platform only for Small business -no not amazon!

The amount of info required is insane. Are you meant to phone up Nintendo Japan and ask for a local contact number in Europe because you want to sell a gameboy 😂 it's ridiculous. The only way I can see this working is, as you say, an autofil when a brand is selected/typed in but that takes time to collect the date. Or if it is majorly simplified and just an item specific that is more general safety selection if it has small parts/suffocation warning/electrical/battery etc etc.

Yes to ringing Nintendo Japan lol and yes to they need to narrow it down to an item specific probably. I can understand the reasoning for this rule, it’s got to be aimed at Chinese crap, but the way they have rolled it out means they are capturing regular small businesses too.

If it’s regarding H&S for items I can’t see if businesses under a certain turn over will be exempt safety is safety. It may be EU clamp down on cheap Chinese crap. I used to have uk only before GSP. A lot of manuals nowadays are downloadable and not hard copies so modern items aren’t applicable May have to do with the GB coming out of the EU

Will also apply to Amazon remember. Currently as a UK seller you cant turn off Northern Ireland, in which case either Amazon will have to add the option or every UK Amazon seller will have to comply
