New sellers may think it is overwhelming to have to know so much about everything they sell, when it's really quite simple. When listing, search solds, highest first. Read the titles. Why did this one sell for so much more? Oh! That one's fancy!😊 Now find yours and read a few titles. Chose sell similar and tweek the title if you think it missed something. You can learn one listing at a time.
A facebook group recommended your channel. Wink Wink!! Great content. And I especially like that you don't drone on and on for an hour. I like the shorter videos. Get in, get out and on to the next listing . Your tips are great too. New subscriber...
Hi, I’ve been watching your U-tube videos for a couple of weeks and I just wanted to say how much I appreciate your content. I watch several U-tubers and really appreciate how specific you are with your advice. You have so much great helpful, useful tips and ideas! I’m retiring very soon and need to up my EBay game, so, thanks for what you’re sharing with your audience! 🌠
I know, even if I have a vintage T shirt, I list it in the regular men’s clothing and then in the specifics, I usually click “unisex” When I do list in vintage clothing, I do not get any traffic and then as soon as I change it to just men’s clothing, I start seeing traffic. I’m still new to reselling, but within the first 3 months I hit their Top Seller and I have a pretty good sell through
Great advice I’m gonna make sure I check over my titles much more carefully because even though I’ve been selling a long time I’m still learning as I’ve been part time for 21 years . I appreciate this video and all the information that you shared with us . Now , I do not offer returns and never have but I also do not sell things that are mechanical or electronic. I generally sell costume jewelry, clothing, knickknacks , watches ,and stuff like that. But I have done returns if somebody contacts me and says there’s an issue I always take a return I just don’t have it as a policy. Also from what I understand Ebay will side with them even if you don’t take returns if something is damaged. I don’t sell very many expensive things and it would not be worth my time to take returns on some of the pieces I sell. But I think that’s why it doesn’t seem to affect me because they’re not expensive items for the most part. But I do occasionally sell things that are a little bit more money and it’s never seemed to be a problem. I think everybody has to figure out what works best for them. If I ever change what I sell I will have to adjust my return policies. But for now this seems to work for me.
ebay orchestrates all sales, sellers don't have anywhere near the amount of power they think they do anymore. try and figure out how many of those cameras for example had everything spelled perfectly in the listing but still never sold.
How should we handle selling lots in a category. For example I created a lot of Tom Clancy books, but the books category didn’t have a lot option and it was forcing me to enter an ISBN. So I just listed a popular isbn, but is there not a lot option in the category?
A little misleading in discussion about returns... If the VCR doesn't work and that was not disclosed in the description, you absolutely can return it because of eBay's Item Not As Described (INAD) money-back guarantee. And, as opposed to a regular return, the Seller will have to pay return shipping on an INAD. Not accepting returns means I don't accept returns from people who change their mind, don't read the description, have Buyer's remorse, etc. - not because the item is defective.
the only bit i dont agree with is the returns policy because i have had items returned against my wishes simply because the buyer said it didnt work when it worked perfectly ebay only ever sides with the buyer so the returns policy is the same for anyone
For the point about putting the brand first, how would you go about this when selling vinyl records? Surely putting the record company first wouldn't be a good idea. So would you put the name of the band/artist first? If so, when the name of the band begins with "the" should you leave that out and just put the more recognisable part of the name? For example "Beatles" instead of "The Beatles? I apologise for the long-winded question.
Definitely not being contentious w/ Jake but imho those 80 characters are “sacred”… I treat it (title structure) as an art-form… so save those 4 (3 characters + 1 space) and leave out definite & indefinite articles of speech, i.e. skip “the” and start out w/ just Beatles. Like he and other content providers preach, “do your own research”, little Brushpopper. It’s the personal daily refinement you need to ultimately advance in levels of professional grade, which @jrideflips has obviously attained.
While I appreciate your tips, I am a bit miffed at the click-bait title (especially since you seem to be anti-clickbait): these are not instances where ebay is doing the hiding and suppressing - these are seller-generated mistakes! And they are valid but let's be clear as to who is doing what. Also, I don't feel some items should be returnable (books, movies) and so I set my policies accordingly. If you do it differently, good on you but don't preach as if there is one way to list, all across the board. And handling times may have to be adjusted to encompass an emergency or traveling unexpectedly, so don't go preaching about that either. Just sayin.
I appreciate your video style so much. You get straight to the point with no filler and dawdling. There is no boredom factor at all, super good content, informative and no nonsense. Great stuff! Thank you!
I really appreciate your pure analytical content. Too many 'reseller' videos are based on emotion, but you cut through all of that and get down to the numbers. Thanks for getting me thinking on this level. It is appreciated.
What I do not understand about this example is if I am looking for an animal crossing shirt why wouldn’t eBay bring up the shirt in the console category anyway? A general searcher is not going to specify the category when they search so why wouldn’t animal crossing shirt come up regardless of category?
I have been Buying and Selling On eBay Since 1996 and Have been a victim of every Scam! (The Empty Box) Full Money back was the Best So Far! Now eBay Wants to Ask If you would Like To pay an Additional $7.00 to make your Item Visible? Hmm? No I think I would Like My Items to be Invisible to buyers because I just Like Listing Things! I love RU-vid but have Never Made a Video but I am Going to Make a NEW to Selling On eBay Video Step By Step eBay Video! It will Be a Very Short Video and Only One Step (Step One) Don't Do It! The End When eBay Calculates Your Shipping Expenses as Your Auction Value and Calculates their fees off Your Item + Shipping Expense and the Tax the Buyer Paid as your Income It's Time To Say Good Bye! Even Items Than the Buyer Never Paid for Stay in Your Dashboard as Your 90 day Sales and are Reported to the IRS as Your Gross Income! If the Item Ends with A bid Your 90 day Totals will reflect that sale even thou No Money ever was paid on the Item! So the Only Calculation you Need is the PAYOUTS that is What you made after the Product Expense. There is Some Very Fuzzy/Fishy Stuff going on on eBay and after all these years I am finished with SCAMBAY As far As The Shipping! I print my Shipping Labels VIA eBay (Purchase Shipping Label) Once I print the Label That Portion of the Auction Value Should be Deducted From My Sale as Income But it is Not! So the Dashboard Still Calculates the Shipping as a Value and My Income! WRONG!
I think it’s helpful in listing to put the size after the brand when selling clothes. When I’m a buyer I don’t like to click onto a listing just to see the size.
Great tips as usual. You have become my my fav n go-to youtuber for info for sure. Have a question about pricing. I notice that when I do a buy it now item, ebay suggests an online price avg. Are you saying if I price higher than ebay suggested price, my item will be buried?
I think eBay’s biggest mistake is allowing everyone to fill in item specifics any way they want. It’s lazy on eBay’s part to not prefill item specifics on generally identifiable items ( aka anything with a sku) 100 people could fill out item specifics for the same Dvd or book all differently based on interpretation and there is no standard specifics for items that should be standardized yes you can say but they do that for a lot of items and yes they do but you can also edit them as well or choose not to use them. This is how everything is in the wrong category
how do you feel about staring a listing with the word vintage? does it matter on the type of item or would you say save it for later in the title on all items?
Oh crap I thought I mentioned that in the video vintage is the one word we’re you can put in as the first word because people actually search that way. I’ve run split test and it seems in the front of the title and the back of it are about the same
@@julieanndiorio2286 It depends what you sell. If you sell a unique item, then that will most likely work. If you're selling a popular brand, then stuff gets buried.
I do believe these things are happening but I have been on Ebay for 20 years and was always selling, I don't do any of these things and my listings are hidden sometimes for two weeks. My chart shows up and then nothing up and then nothing, so please do more research we need more.
@@mr.c4p Why would they want to do that? It also limits their income. Why are they cutting peoples sales, I mean I think they are doing it, but I can't understand why, it only hurts them. They can't be that stupid, but then again it's Ebay.
I was gonna go over that but forgot. Vintage is the only word eBay recommend putting before the brand because a lot of people search vintage then brand when looking for an older shirt
Hi. I'm a new subscriber to the channel and a reseller. I've found a lot of your content really helpful, so thank you. One question for you. I looked at your store and you have what seems to me quite a bit of neutral/negative feedback. Do you address complaints? Do you find having less than 100% positive feedback a detriment to your sales? I am obsessed w/ having only positive feedback, but I also don't operate at the scale you do. Thanks for your time.
I went over this in a live. They did a study that people are more liking to use a service or buy from a company that has 4.7 stars instead of 5. I do my best to keep customers happy but some people just can’t be pleased online
Aoh! I didn't they made multiregion disc player. That's huge. I bought a bootleg "song of the south" vhs. At DW, I mentioned to a family from England. They thought I was goofy. There are titles that Americans are not supposed to buy. Copyright, maybe. Some titles just available. Some are cheaply reproduced. Example. A christmas movie. Mrs. Worthington's Party. Retitled, Noelle. Has portions of scenes missing. Another movie filmed in New Brunswick. Tramp at the Door. I have not been able to find on DVD. So, yeah. I think. I'll look again.
Not that it matters, but Australia is Region 4 for DVD's. From memory, I think Blu-rays are Region B. But nearly everyone down here has multi-region players so we can play American / Asian / UK releases.
I have no return Policy - if item is not as described they can return - I accept change of mind returns at my own discretion buyer pays post both ways to accept this option - I am pedantic about pics and details to avoid returns
I can when it's possible ship the same day but next day latest...although if its one hour before post office shipping, weighs 30 lbs and expect me to do a 20 mile round trip to the post office for that same day then it's not going to happen. it goes out next day before my thrift store tour.
Re: brand name first in title, what would u recommend for vintage items (clothing/accessories) where the brand name is not recognizable or not a current trending label like Nike etc. Just have ‘Vintage’ as first word?
Technsports would label it ‘non-eBay-able”. Maybe Etsy?? Or yeah, we’ve used “Vintage” but are getting away from those items because of how eBay algorithm works.
This is false. It depends on what you're selling, I sell toys, The brand is in the item details and it's not required to add to the title. That takes up valuable real estate for keywords. And the keywords that nobody else is using is what makes your listing stand out. Not HASBRO in caps when everybody searching for that product already knows it's a hasbro product
Dude, why do you think eBay offers a money back guarantee?!?! It’s because sellers have the option of no returns. You shouldn’t be giving advice about the platform, and getting is for it no less, if you don’t know how the platform actually works. Offering returns is optional and there isn’t any legitimate proof that offering them actuality increases sales.
With an eBay money back guarantee why wouldn’t you offer free returns? I wouldn’t purchase unless I could return if it’s broken or not described correctly. I purchased a printer on eBay and the seller didn’t package correctly. It was placed in a smaller box than required and no packing. The seller incorrectly shipped the printer hence causing the printer to move and bang around which arrived severely damaged. The buyer never replied back and eBay refunded me the money. I think it’s an awesome policy to have in place. I’ve been selling numerous years and offer free returns. Jake is a new RU-vidr that many sellers enjoy and learn from his tips. I know many of us have enjoyed learning from him as he’s a fresh of breath air filled with many helpful tips.
