Disabling the 10NES chip fixes a lot of problems with the NES as does servicing the cartridge connector.

Future reference, When cleaning contacts. use a paper towel with rubbing alcohol or a Q-tip cotton swab, not your fingertips!!

I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw a broken NES in a local retro gaming store for 10€ ($16 AUD or so) , so naturally I ordered it immediately and went looking for some troubleshooting tips. Hopefully I can get a second working system out of it The first NES I bought was a couple months ago for 50€ + 10€ shipping and it was in flawless condition and came with all the cables and a controller and even a Quickshot 2 microswitched joystick which is the best retro joystick I've ever used compared to all the Commodore joysticks I have

You spent 50 bucks on a broken NES!!! I got mine for 60 bucks working but to be fair mine isn't Mattel version

I got an nes for 40£ and it was a Mattel version and it worked perfectly

Plenty of videos on how to fix this might want to watch some of them

try to clean the pcb game and clean the 72 pin connector and cut the 4th leg of the 3195A ship to unlock Region Free it will work brother ;)

That 72 pin connector fits tight I bet it's one of those China junk replacement's that hardly ever work.
