i was scamed on ebay,sold a base guitar and case,for £140.buyer asked ebay to return the item,buyer sent back 8 gram.letter 5" BY 6", the base guitar was 50" and guitar case was 64", i took photos and got ebay to step in,the buyer was thrown of ebay for good,had a visit from police he was done for fraud, if you get scamed do not get in toutch,with the scamer, go straight to ebay,it pay's to mark your item be safe
If you are expecting a return of an expensive item that you cannot afford to write off as a loss, you need to be extra vigilant. Unfortunately, this will require you to not only video record opening the box like in this video, but also video recording yourself accepting the delivery. On the day you expect the post office to deliver your package, you need to be proactive about meeting the delivery man/woman in person to accept the item. This of course needs to be video recorded also. Take ownership of the package and on the spot where you accepted the delivery open it, all while continuing to record. Make sure to also video record the return label on the box prior to opening to clearly show sender and receiver information. Do not pause or stop the recording until you've completely captured the contents of the box. Use the recording as evidence. Good luck in your fight against those scumbags.
I'm afraid this is ultimately a waste of time. According to the Ebay community board Ebay does not accept photo or video evidence in such cases as it is trivially easy to fake.

Request to pick up at the post office. Then when you do state your concerns and open it at the post office and if it's a scam, then file with the postal inspector. Send the video and a copy of the report as evidence of the claim. ❤
While I have lots of sympathy for this seller, I suspect that many, many more buyers are ripped off than sellers. It is hardly a surprise then that eBay assume the buyer is telling the truth - it isn't eBay you should be having a moan about, it's the unscrupulous sellers who have ripped off so many buyers that eBay have been left assuming the buyers innocence!

Actually I don’t think there are many sellers scamming buyers and the few that do try most likely always end up paying for it. It is literally impossible for a seller to scam a buyer because eBay just force buyers to refund buyers no matter what. Even when there’s a lot of evidence that the buyer is trying to scam the seller. eBay is always on the buyer’s side. There is no reason for eBay to always just assume the buyer is innocent, especially if they have a track record of being a good honest seller that has sold thousands of items to happy buyers. eBay are 100% for the buyer. They give buyers 2 weeks to return an item and when those 2 weeks come up and the buyer hasn’t posted the item yet, they give them a further 1 week. Meanwhile the seller’s funds for the return are being held. Once tracking shows the returned item has been delivered to the seller (if the buyer actually bothers to return it), eBay gives the seller 2 days to inspect it and refund the buyer. They used to give them 5 days but recently they reduced to 2 days. I wouldn’t be surprised f they reduce it to 1 day in the future. So let me get this straight, the buyer gets 3 weeks to send the item back but the seller gets 2 days to inspect it and return it? I’m what world is that fair? I sold an item a few weeks ago to someone that was new and unused. He then messaged me saying it was turning on. I knew for a fact that there was no way it wasn’t working but I said he should return it and I’ll refund him. I even talked him through the process of getting a free return label at my expense. It’s been 2 and half weeks and the buyer still hasn’t even shipped the item back yet. Bare in mind eBay gave him 2 weeks to return it and those 2 weeks have gone. We’re well into the additional week eBay gives buyers to return items and this whole time the funds have been held. I doubt he’s going to return it, I think he wants to keep it but was just fishing to see if I would refund him without him having to send it back. He could still pull what the buyer in this video pulled and if that happens and eBay don’t refund me, I’ll stop buying and selling on eBay for good. Either way I hope sellers get fed up of the poor treatment by eBay and start to walk on mass and eBay goes down. They forget that without sellers they have no business. It’s unlikely but I hope eBay fails because of the way they treat sellers
@@jdt3594 Gosh, I can see the steam coming from your ears! Can't say I blame you tbh. I _have_ sold (once) on ebay and that was a return also. The whole process put me off ever doing it again. Nevertheless you are quite right that the majority of my eBay experience is as a buyer and I can tell you a few horror stories too. I have had completely no show "deliveries" where, when I have sent a message to chase, the seller fobs off me off with "give it a bit more time.. can't control the mail..." but nothing ever arrives. Admittedly these have been low value items (like a CD) so no tracking but it's happened too often to blame the (actually usually very reliable) Royal Mail. Because they were low value I never bothered to pursue through eBay which is my laziness and (if it is a scam) exactly what they assume someone will do. On too many other occasions the product delivered is of... doubtful... provenance. Something that is all too likely to be fake. And that is the main reason why I won't use ebay as a buyer anymore - I won't take the risk of buying electrical goods etc which may be cheap fakes that may prove to be dangerous. I guess I just don't trust ebay!
Nick and Andrea video regarding the car part, they ended up having Ebay head office call them to apologise and got their money back. Only because they are high profile and have a lot of subscribers. Ebay actually saw their video and agreed they had been mistreated. Classic case of ebay not liking the bad exposure to thousands of people.
Yes, I am a power seller or as they like to refer to it a Top-rated, Seller I feel for the small sellers as EBAY always back the buyer with them when we the Top-rated, Seller complain EBAY still do nothing to the buyer, but refund us out of there own pocket so the scammer gets a freebie as EBAY explained it to me its cheaper to refund me than pay there staff to fix the problem
This is just ONE of the many reasons why I don't sell on ebay and I rarely buy off of ebay. And when I rarely do buy I look at the sellers feedback rating b4 I buy. I know it's not a guarantee I won't get ripped off but it helps. I still won't buy a high expensive item off of ebay no matter what though.
Weighing is precisely what Amazon do, however they are still scammed as people send back sand, bricks, bags of flour etc! However if you bumble with eBay as much as you do on here I don’t give much for your chances. Did you declare the item as being a remanufactured product? These can easily be faulty far more than a new product. For heavens sake prepare your videos better although I reckon you are both a bit quackers.
I had a buyer say INAD (ordered 6 oz bottle, said I sent 3 oz bottle). I explained to eBay look at the weight. Didn’t matter. I had to pay for her to return the item. I sent a 6 oz package and she returned a 3 oz package. EBAY DID NOT CARE. So much for the burden of proof. There was quite literally nothing else I could do. Except send her a big pile of raccoon poop.
That was actually pretty bad from the scammer. They didn't make sure that their returned package was of the same weight as the one they received. That alone could make their scam fail. That's why you should always put your package on a scale and take a photo/video of it before you ship it. Then if the buyer returns it, weigh the returned package and if the weight is way off like in this case, you have a strong argument to give to eBay. Sure, it's still not a guarantee but it's something. But in general, selling on eBay as a private / casual seller is a BIG NO-NO! Scams are too easy to pull off on eBay which is why only companies and volume sellers who can offset the cost of scams with legitimate sells can survive.
Not really, I was buying a lot from Ebay when I lived in the UK, only had a problem once where I was sold a counterfit EarBuds... yes, it took 14 days to get my money back, but it was resolved. Recently, I purchased a new AMD CPU from US (I'm in Eu now) and had zero problems with the seller. Basically, if you (as a seller, or a buyer) have a good score/ratio or feedback, you should be fine. A very small percent of people get scammed, but they usually win the case. Just my 2 cents....
I’ve had success with these kinds of buyers by telling them I will happily come to their address to “discuss” the issue in person. I had no intention of actually going there but I find putting the idea in their head that you’re going to turn up at their house suddenly puts them off pursuing any further.

I quit selling on eBay because my products were sterling silver or real gold gemstone jewelry and I just couldn't take the risk anymore with all the SCUMBAG thieves that eBay straight up encourages now and has for the last few years. Unbelievable. Ebay NEEDS to make videos of item being sent compulsary!!! Packed at the post office, and reciepted delivery. Or hire staff at post office to witness it.
Sold a hydrofoil ski to a guy. For some reason two guys were buying up all that were being sold. It turned out both guys were one guy? The prices were almost full retail. Then I get notified it was missing parts and he wanted to return it. It turned out he was making the same claim on all the hydrofoils but claiming different missing parts. First eBay approved the returns but one seller who contacted us all we were able to get eBay to reverse their decision. I still don’t know why he bid so high. Perhaps to flip at the higher price the foils he would assemble from the parts he thought he could keep? Only a guess. I stopped selling on eBay
I would send them a message with pictures so you have full records for eBay. They don't always side with buyers and basically this is theft . Makes me so angry x
They honestly don't, IA customer said my measurements were wrong and sent a shirt back but I had pictures to prove I was right , eBay sided with me, I don't like giving in .
what happens if before pressing the refund button you block ebay from your bank so they cant take the refund at all. and then stop selling on ebay would Ebay take you to court to get the money back because i am in a similar situation regarding a phone which was sold for £200 and im sure the person wants to send it or an empty box back. I have photos IMEI number everything but if i dont recieve the phone back i cannot check anything. When i sent it the phone was in pristine grade A condtion and he is now stating there are scratches all over the back and front which i know were not there.
No. I owed a bunch of sellers fees. I instantly blocked my card for the tiny bit of bread I still had left. They restricted my store, but I've never heard anything else from it. It was 200$, round about. Simply opened another store and currently sell.... With different morals.
I know The sellers who had a returned “cracked” car light, after a lot of back and forth, did eventually get their £300 back, , But To send the video to ebay, I would have shown all details possible, buyers ID, postage label, barcode reference tracking number, address etc, so Ebay themselves, can see all this before opening, and then you could edit those details out for youtube, even the note inside, you took off screen and brought it back, but I do really sympathise, and hope ebay see in your favour..
I just got a message from a buyer saying “hi I forgot I ordered this item last September but I still haven’t received it can I have a refund?” Lol! 4 months later and they’re still trying it on..
Yeah I was going to say if you compare your receipt for when you delivered it vs buyers receipt of the returned items weight you can see a significant discrepancy. Such a shame people do such sick and low life things.
Yeah it will, but eBay will not do their job because eBay is corrupt. They will side with the buyer instead. They only care about the final value fee of the sale.
Kindle or even mobile phone, before selling this item, why not take a note of imei and if possible if they ask for a refund, but you dont get the phone back, lock the phone
That’s just wicked and also scary at the same because if you decide to sell something and this happens then you’re stumped! Ebay needs to revise their system so that it’s much fairer to the seller, and not automatically taking the buyer’s side all the time. The thieves, liars and fraudsters spoil for the good buyers and sellers on EBay, and put potential sellers off from selling items.
A seller sold me four phones and send just one , luckily the weight of the parcel was in the stamp , yup , 120 grams for 2 iPhones and 2 Samsung’s !!!! Lots money 💰, actually I lost the case first time than a contacted the police , got a police paper , sent it to eBay , than got my refund !!! The strangest thing is that the seller did admit in eBay message that he didn’t send the 3 other phones and that he will send these after !!! Still I lost the first case !!!! Had to contact the police to reopen the case !!!! Now I never buy anything over 50$ from eBay if it’s not a seller I bought from before , it’s just to risky !!!! And yea , never buy from new sellers this days , the guy had only 20 feedbacks , 1 year old account !!!! Ring bells to !!!!

I do not sell expensive items on Ebay. I even will start accept bank transfer. Paypal and Credit Card will put you on a bad situation in a case of chargeback.
I’ve sold 2 bundles for clothes. Buyer purchases both over 5 days. Send 2 separate parcels. That was 15 days ago. This morning I had a case opened up on PayPal. “Buyer didn’t authorise purchase- misuse of payment method”. But only on 1 purchase 🤔PayPal have auto refunded her and now I’m at a loss. Don’t sell your watch on eBay cause people know how to blag the system and basically get there money back.
Did you record the imei or serial number of the one you sent them? Always do this and ebay will always go in your favour! It happens all the time but normally send back there broken item the same as you sent! So always take a note of your serial numbers imei etc to prove the one they sent backs not the one you sent like! Shower of Bsrds how did you get on with it?
That sucks man. Same thing happened to me, talk to their live chat and call them and force the issue about it. I got so angry when it happened to me n called right away, they put you through to Americans which is weird as I'd like to talk to UK staff but yeah any help just ask. look at the recorded weight of the package when they sent it back to you. it should EXACTLY match the weight of the parcel that you sent to them,- clearly this does not. . that will prove that they did the scam not someone else while it was in transit

It has been misquoted and cut in half many times over by customers that are horrid and want to get their way no matter what and when the quote is cut in half it changes it's meaning entirely. I am really sorry that happened to you and that you were scammed. It must have been an awful feeling.

Gosh!!!! This scares me! I recently sold a printer which was fully functional when I shipped it. Buyer opened a return request claiming that the printer is not working, I wonder what kind of scam this is going to be... 😂 I will definitely take as many photos and photos as possible
@@mothballjim Yes! I am glad I did. The scammer buyer swapped the Serial NO. Sticker, I submitted the video to eBay and they sided with me. The buyer’s account got restricted 🚫not long after that. 🙌
He's going to break it intentionally and then send it back to you for a refund. I had that happen to me when I tried to sell a video game console. It's very annoying.

Call the police local and the police at their address file a report. It’s fraud and theft. If that person has a criminal record and has multiple eBay reports against them, police may/will charge them. It’s a bit of work Or just don’t accept returns. As I do, so if a scammer tries their antics, you do t have to accept the return and/or refund. If a buyer has a legitimate concern you can accept the return in trust.
You do know, ebay will force the refund whether or not you accept returns or not. If ebay has to manually do the return for you they strike your account too. So you mine as well turn on accept returns to gain more traffic. Of coarse make them pay for the return label too.
It’s called the eBay Money Back Guarantee. Who paid the money? The buyer. Who gets the money back? The buyer. Who gets fucked? The seller. eBay’s doesn’t give a shit. Your best protection is to only sell to rating long standing accounts, otherwise cancel the sale before you get screwed. This is a giant loophole that eBay doesn’t care about.
The strange thing about this, is that even if you send proof to ebay, they do not accept it. I sold a brand new factory sealed item. I had a buyer open a return claiming the item was faulty. Normally with these cases you have to tread very carefully and they sometimes end up putting a noose round their own neck. I had the buyer message me and telling me they damaged the item, and inadvertently send me a picture of them damaging the item. I was so proud of my detective work and coaxing what actually happened out of the buyer. I thought, I have this buyer and scammer bang to rights. Ebay claimed that they could not verify the item had sustained damage, and that I would have to accept the item back and test that it was actually damaged. When I received the item back and confirmed it had been damaged, I was informed that, ebay could not make a judgement as they could not verify that the buyer had actually damaged the item, and even though there was the message and pictures, the factory sealed item, could have sustained damage at the factory. So eBay actually encourage scammers
Im aware of a situation of a someone selling an unopened BNIB £600 watch via the EBay forum who had a case opened against them by the buyer. The buyer claimed when the opened the 'unopened' box, it was empty and did not contain anything. The seller wanted help how to resolve the matter. Guess who EBay decided in favour of?

There can be problems with people not packing their items properly, the post office stealing items, the postman stealing items. housemates stealing items, the Landlord stealing items. I would be worried about selling very expensive items, and I always get worried by buyers with new accounts buying expensive items
Been hearing this is getting more & more common. Suspect Ebay will side with buyer this is because there were so many scammer sellers. i have a gopro7 & a sony rxm3 i dont use anymore & wanna sell on but wouldn't dream of putting on ebay anymore & or take paypal on fb marketplace. Seems Ebay/ paypal has become a victim of its own success...... Sorry i really do hope they can sort it out for you & in general, it was great when it was just people selling on stuff they don't want anymore
Its so frustrated to sell on Ebay . The buyer bought and paid for an item i listed , it was delivered and buyer gave positive feedback then 5 weeks later they requested a return claiming its not as described! And Ebay deducted my money from my paypal account and now i have to fight the disputed. Fucking ridiculous man!!!
I've ordered an rtx 3070 for a great price but the account was removed from ebay the day after I ordered and then the day after that it got dispatched, if anything comes I will be opening it on camera. And if it comes down to it I'm covered by the money back guarantee, if ebay doesn't help then I go to paypal, then the authorities / bank if really needed. I'm fairly confident I have a lot of things to fall back on. Hopefully my item arrives and is exactly what I ordered but I might be asking too much.

Still at a loss with the gpu market right now though, need crypto to take another massive nose dive then the market will be flooded with good gpus. Gonna try get an rx 6700xt in a couple weeks, was meant to try get a 3060 a couple days ago but lost track of time, before I knew it it was 30 mins past launch and everything was already sold out. I'm gonna need to be on it for the 6700xt which should be a better card than the 3060 so fingers crossed!
@@mothballjim No but I can explain it, I have a corner desk dual monitor setup with my pc sat behind my monitors, I run a dell precision t1700 with a xeon e3 1270 v3 (equivalent to i7 4790), gtx 970 and 16gb ddr3 1600 mhz. I have to run my pc with the side panel off because there isn't good enough air flow for my gtx 970 with the panel on. my pc doesn't look very good at all, there's no where to hide unused psu wires so it looks very messy, good job it's out of sight behind my monitors. tbh I'd happily run a test bench so long as it's out of sight, all I really care about is performance.
I would report to local postal authorities. Also the last one i got scammed i did a police report on the customer… and also with all the proof i had ebay did nothing. Sorry you got scammed also!
Well it's easy to prove isnt it as you have the reciept when you sent it with the weight on and on that box is the weight on the label this is why they weigh things at the post office for that very reason, it's documented evidence to safe guard people selling and people recieving items so all you have to do is show tge weight on the box labelbcompared to tge weight on your box when you sent it 😊

Just looked at this Video just today, I wish I saw it earlier coz I would have said few things that could have helped. Anyhow first of all stuff like this happening can fight back with few things in mind. First of all, for any electronics posted to any buyer make sure you record Serial Numbers of Items as Serial Numbers are Unique Number to that Product that's first thing including taking pictures and posting it along with the listing. Second, when you send out the Item surely you should have the Weight of the Item recorded and the item they send will also have the weight recorded. So, if the weight does not match then that is clearly one way of fighting it back. As the item they have posted back is lighter than the item you shipped in the first place. Another thing if at all possible, try to start videoing when the postman is at your door, that way eBay can see from the moment the item came to your house.

Ebay has by far the worst customer service in the world with their idiotic agents not understanding the issue and just copy and paste messages, to get ebay to side with the seller like in this case just film you packaging the item, i mean there still will be questions like you may have opened and changed the contents of the parcel after the video so the best thing is literally dropping off or selling face to face, hope thats usefull.
If you have your re ipt when you sent it then there parcel should near enough match your weight that's what I got my sca😊myers with the weight of the item they sent back didn't match the weight on the parcel I sent to them so I didn't have to give them there money back
