As an FYI, this morning we opted out and already have 3 sales since. Again not saying this is the reason YOU are not getting sales but I suspect for some this may be why.
What I have experienced is my items do not even show up to international buyers unless the item is Buy It Now. Auctions do not show up to them. Auctions with a Buy It Now option do not show up. Also, eBay says international sale items have to, " meet certain criteria". For the life of me it does not say anywhere what that criteria is.
I have many of the same items on eBay and amazon for a direct comparison. I even have stuff slightly higher priced on amazon. Amazon outsells eBay at least 5 to 1 on those items. eBay has been slowly dying from lack of buyers for many years.
I've lowered all my prices to ridiculous levels, I've "promoted" my items (at totally unfair extra expenses to eBay) and I STILL can't sell stuff. I just want to get rid of all my stock and quit eBay, but I'm stuck because I can't make sales. eBay was not like this a couple years ago. I don't know what is going on there. 🥺
Im with you! In Jan 2024 I had 2600 listing and sond 12 item! TWELVE!!! I had 8 days of sales out of 31. Thats 23 whole days wothout a single sale. Ebay is just rotten!

I just opted out. Desperate times call for desperate measures. To all who keep asking for a screenshot and where to opt out from, simply go to your Account Settings then select Shipping Preferences towards the bottom left of the page. The opt out option is right at the top.

I definitely had a drop in both sales and traffic. I have some good data to go off of and I can say it matches up perfectly with the change. I was opted in on approx 850 listings. Just took off international so Ill let you know if that brings back the business. Great video! Thanks
Update: My traffic and sales tanked after I stopped international. Which is weird because I rarely had international sales to begin with. I left it off for 2 weeks and it really crippled my store. Created a new business policy for shipping that included ebay international shipping, ended and relisted all listings, and wouldn’t you know, my sales and traffic came back. As in $100 in one day which my average is $30 to $50 in low value trading cards. Its been better ever since. I end and sell similar every 7 days and usually get a little lift but I had 3 “zero sales” days in a row before I changed it and I rarely ever had a zero day. Ebay wants what its wants, we cant fight it. I call doing daily listings “feeding the beast”. More listing, more fees, do as I say. Still love selling on ebay though. After a few years you get used to their timely shenanigans. Still a ton of money to be made on ebay. Thanks

As a Canadian seller and buyer I have found that when buying from USA sellers that the cost of shipping is higher for my purchase when the seller uses the Global Shipping Program (compared to the lower rate of the seller shipping directly to me) because essentially there are two shipments being made, one from the seller to the Global Shipping Program warehouse location and then from there to the buyer.... therefore the cost of shipping for the buyer goes up, so therefore less buyers. Yes this is easier for you the seller, but worse for the buyer.
Due to your advice I have opted out. I’m a small store but still was making sells. I know the economy is bad so that might play a role. Everything is really dead a lot of views but no one buying. I will let you know if sales increase with me opting out. Thank you!
Something to take in consideration when you use the ebay shipping program the buyer will get to see the shipping fees and import duties they will need to pay before they purchase which is makes the item really expensive. Doing it the old way its all hidden alot of cases you have to ask the seller what shipping will be and you dont know what the import duties will be until the delivery driver is demanding monies before they will let you have the item which in the UK because we dont have any trade agreements with USA its roughly 1 third of what your buying on top for import duties.
I am trying to ramp up my store and was doing okay with sales and now that this system has been implemented my sales have gone to 0(zero) so I am with you on opting out of this setup as well. I don't believe they have worked all of the kinks out of the coding and is preventing our listing from being seen.

I got enrolled into it on May 6 and then on that day and May 7th I had my best 2 days of sales ever. I sold about 15 items in 24 hours in a store with only 100 items in it. But now I haven't had a sale since. Its so weird how ebay works.
When the new program went live my sales dipped at first. I have remained opted in and my sales are up 151% from last 31 days. During this time, I also increased my promoted listings to what the Quality Listing Report recommended.
My sales tanked and I’ve been selling for 20 years! I just opted out and fingers are crossed 🤞🏼 that this works! I’m hopeful this was the problem the last couple months!! Thanks for the video!
Followed your advice, had 3 sales overnight. Noticed traffic increase also. BTW when I was opting out of International, I noticed a lot of listings on the wrong shipping policy (such as books on Priority). One more thing to check regularly from now on
Any time you change a major policy on your listings, It takes a couple of days for the algorithm to pick you back up. You’re not waiting long enough. Being opted into international shipping will absolutely help your sales.
If it takes a couple days, eBay needs better tech or it’s going to go the way of the dinosaur. We live in a society of instant gratification. eBay still operates like it’s 1999.
@@amyhouck3273 that makes sense, I just wish eBay could be as agile as Amazon considering they have the money and talent to do a whole lot better than they’re doing. Many times their service feels like a relic of a bygone era. They need to evolve or be extinct. I’m for evolve!
I wrote off international sales so long ago. In the past two years or so, I am lucky if I get maybe one international sale every three months or so. I sell only clothing, all pre-owned, thrifted clothing at an average buy in price of only $2.50, my sales are through the roof but only because I am promoting. Many years ago, before all of the international shipping costs were driven up so high, most of my business was internationally. I'm wondering if other sellers have had a similar experience. Damn so this is the hold up?? I might opt out. I never allowed international shipping to begin with and actually was excited thinking this would actually open a huge pool of customers for me but you’re right we gotta pay bills in the meantime while this system gets moving. Thx for the info.
My international orders have hit the floor as well. I even called to have a rep check - she validated that I was good, again... even though since opt'ing in... I've had ZERO international sales.

I opted out but they have let 4 international orders go through in the past month. I updated all my policies. I don't want to use it because I found out the hard way thry do NOT protect us sellers. An item broke during shipping and they wanted the buyer in Spain to return it to me and have me pay $44 to return it. I said your new policy says it gets returned to you and you handle everything. Nope. Had to file a claim with this PIP insurance company and was made to refund the buyer the full purchase price. It took a month to resolve and talked daily 2-3 times a day to different reps who all told me different stories on how to do things. Nightmare is an understatement.
@@catita423 sort of. I did a few things so I can’t say what the exact cause was. I recently bought a store subscription and listed around 50 new items. I can say that I have a lot more watchers! I sell clothing so I know it’s a slow mover sometimes.
My sales went down from 6k per month to $500, not sure what ebay did but my listings not getting any views, their promotional % is now recommended at 16% + it's a joke, 100% rigged
you are totally correct. there is something major wrong with new EIS program we are a large seller of 26 years and since two of our locations entered the program their sales went from 5k per week to ZEROOOO yes ZERRROOOO. none of our other 17 locations have seen anything more than the summer time 8 % drop which is normal and they all opted out of the EIS since they sell clothing and many over sea countries it is illegal to send clothing to. and the seller gets the homeland security at their doors not ebay.
I was opted in and just opted out. Not sure when I've been opted in but I am currently on day 3 of no sales or offers. eBay notes it can take up to 24 hours for the opt out to process.
From my experience, international shipping means you have to spend 15 minutes in the PO line, then deal with the clerk entering the customs form info into the system. A big waste of time.
I've been doing ebay for over a decade full time now - and this is the slowest I've ever seen it... although, for what it's worth May has always been the month we go away because it is notoriously slow... Even the stock market has a mantra, 'Sell in May - and go away" ---- But still - It has been a slow trajectory down hill for the past year... I feel like ebay has shut down my sales for sure --- I pay way more than most are willing to on my ads / promotion e.g., 3-5% --- so like wtf?
Pretty much the same amount in my store and same sales rate. But on May 6 I sold about 15 items in 24 hours. It was ridiculous, I sold 2-3 weeks worth in a day. But now I haven't had any sales in 48 hours. eBay is so unpredictable its frustrating.

Choose “Shipping Preferences.” under “Selling” section 3. Select “Opt out” to the right of eBay International Shipping 4. Select a reason for opting out. 5. Review the information. If you still wish to opt out, select “Opt out.”
Steady and back to normal. I won’t be turning it back on until fall at the earliest and that is only if I don’t hear anyone else having issues. No need to mess with what’s working
I tried this idea about a month ago, as soon as I heard the rumor that the implementation from GSP to eISP was the root of the major glitch that started in early April. Opting out of eISP did not help one bit. My April sales continued to be weak. Things finally turned around for me yesterday. I'm already above what I did last week (which was the worst week I can remember), and Tuesday isn't even over yet. Everyone just has to wait. According to some, eBay had acknowledged that the problem could last a month or so, and that seemed to be correct. Now, I wouldn't be surprised if my sales go back into the tank tomorrow or later this week. People are going to opt out, and sales are going to go up, and they will assume this was a cause-effect relationship. It's not. It's because after a month of glitches, eBay is finally sorting out the problem.
Everyone's experience is going to be different with this program. I am not interested in waiting until eBay get's their act together. I simply opted out and have 3 sales this afternoon as compared to about 6 sales in a week. Coincidence? I don't know but I am sharing with you guys what I am doing to get ahead of this. I refuse to beta test for ebay. I will be glad to opt back in at a later time.
@@FlippinAintEasy After I opted out about a month ago, I have remained opted out. International sales have never accounted for much in my niche anyhow. When I say we just have to wait, I mean wait for eBay to fix their glitches. This will always be the case. I wish it wasn't. I would love to discover a way to be immune to these issues, but nothing ever works besides waiting (while also doing our best as sellers). Our only other choice is to leave the platform.
I think I'll try opting out as I don't think I've even had any sales through the program so far so why take the risk of having it tank my sales? Plus I sell a lot of Levi's and they're notorious for handing out VEROs if you accidentally sell to european buyers. I don't trust ebay to prevent this for me. I had a ukranian buyer inquire this morning about some Levis, thank goodness Ukraine isn't included in the new program. I occasionally sell to Canadians but I always do so using USPS first class international myself as it was cheaper than GSP for my clothing items. Is it possible to opt out of this program but have an option in your listings to ship by yourself to Canada? Right now my listings are showing both Ebay International Shipping and my own shipping to canada but I'm not sure how it's displaying to the buyer.
@@mayakoyama9130 Yes, you can select Canada as a destination, but just make sure that under "Services" you choose USPS First Class Mail Intl, not eISP.

That would be hard to opted out when the program has only been around for a few months. We are talking about the NEw International Shipping Program. This one at the moment ships to Illinois.
I never considered this, but now that you mentioned it my sales took a plunge about the same time I was auto-enrolled in the program. I just opted out, so let's see if that makes a difference. I only saw about a half dozen sales a year through the GSP program, so it wasn't a huge factor in my store.
what is more worrying to me is that I was selling steadily in Mercary ,about the same time in the last 2 weeks my ebay store and mercari store are dead
You wanna know the problem? I am a Canadian buyer and the EIS program is terrible! The shipping costs are way higher, the shipping time is way longer and you're 100% more likely to get duties, taxes and broker fees over a shipment from USPS for some reason. I've been letting everyone know about it because as a Canadian buyer, I wont buy from EIS sellers anymore.
None of my eBay stores (I have 3) are opted in international shipping. My sales are literally DEAD today! So this isn't it. Something is going on but it's not fixable unless eBay is going to fix it. What really pisses me off eBay wont admit there is a huge problem.
It's annoying they don't admit it, since we're all in this together, but they are working on it. My sales crashed after April 1 and finally returned a couple days ago. The drop-off and rebound were both dramatic. I have 32,000 items, so the swings wouldn't be this dramatic without some sort of glitchy interference. My worst days was five days ago. Really just awful. Statistically impossible without glitches. Then it got a little better, a little better, and then they exploded. I wouldn't be surprised if there is another crash though. It may be a bumpy ride.
There are many reasons for slow sales. For my second store things were fine until I opted in. Then nothing. 5 sales today since I opted out. Coincidence? Maybe but I’m opting out.
I happened to be on eBay working in my store last week and my whole store disappeared for about 3 minutes. When it reloaded my home base was the UK not the USA. It was saying I didn’t have anything list and no sells for the last 30 days. I panicked because I happened to be printing shipping labels at the time. It took me another 30 mins to get everything straightened out and my hime base back to the USA. (Or maybe ebay fixed something in their end.) because everything went back to normal and I could see my sells again. But sells are good for a few days then dead for a few days.

I get sales going to the eBay International center in Illinois too. I don't have any international shipping set up and I never "opted in". From what I can tell, it automatically opts you in.
Okay, I found where it is located and I am opted in. Not sure when this happened or if it was automatic, but my sales have been iffy in recent weeks. I guess I can try opting out to see how it goes.
Just opted out. eBay says it may take 24 hours to process my request. Also, fixed price listings that were committed before I opted out could still possibly sell internationally, I guess until they are renewed or ended. And, of course, anything that was already pending. But, we'll see if it helps!
Since they switched from the global shipping and I’ve been opted in to the new international shipping, my sales have been way down. Nothing else has changed with the way I list, so maybe this is the answer, I’ll give it a try and see what happens. Thanks! 😊
My main issue is that ebay have made me auto pay on offers, so now I can't do multiple offers with a single seller e.g. I would put in a second, third or fourth offer if the primary (first) offer is accepted. Buying additional items with consolidated shipping, but every offer wants to charge full postage and auto debit on acceptance.
I just had my first international buyer win multiple auctions for a few action figures. I'm in the US. I tried doing the usual process of sending an invoice for all items with the discounted/combined shipping but got the message "Invoices can't be sent for eBay International Shipping orders." Is there another way to combine shipping for multiple auctions wins to save myself and the buyer money? If the buyer pays individual shipping for each, am I able to combine the orders in one box and send them a partial refund for the combined shipping difference?
I believe you are only able to give a partial refund on the domestic shipping you collect to ship it to Illinois. With the new program, just like with GSP eBay won’t allow you to send an invoice to these buyers.

I have heard other people complaining about shipping policies, too. I have 0 views on most listings?, but random listings like completed, framed cross stitches, etc and vintage jewelry lots are through the roof, so I wonder if my other categories are all so saturated now that it's just too competitive to get any traction. Some listings are definitely getting views. I find it very suspicious that I get ten unrelated sales within an hour and then nothing for two days. I think mostly, we have to find better items and what people are actively looking for. It looks like the vintage sellers are having the most trouble with secondhand modern still doing well in some places. It's hard to put a finger on what is going on exactly and if the the so-called summer slump is coming very early this year.
I know this is late but I thought I was opted in to EIS but I guess I wasn’t totally as now my listing page state’s EBay International shipping .. so ALL sales stopped in both stores! So I’ll try opting out and see how it goes .. I’m dead with 1 sales in 4 days with 2 stores!
Thank you for all of the information. I am going to opt out and test this. When it was GPS my sales were continuously high and I did a lot of GPS sales. Since the new international shipping my sales did drop including my international sales. The first and only sale I had on the new international program got stuck in customs. Ebay said they filled out the customs paperwork wrong so it stayed in customs. Expensive item is still in never never land.
I watched this twice. Still a little confused. I did have my policies set to no international shipping and yes it has been dismal. So I want to opt out but still offer the service. However, can you do a quick video showing us how to correctly set up the policy? I get so mixed up on the international shipping box on the policy section as to what should be selected. QUESTION: Let me ask you this why is Ebay always a puzzle, I have been doing Ebay for 20 years and the last 2-3 years it has been very confusing. with this CEO from Walmart that they picked up it has been nothing but a problem, seems to me that the CEO is trying to bring down Ebay. Trying to make sales on Ebay is a fricking game everyone knows this that is a seller on Ebay , well let me change this or maybe I should change that or maybe that, why should I keep changing the way I do things that have worked before. Ebay in my opinion is a hassle and after 20 years of selling on Ebay I am done I have put all my stuff on 50% off and what I do not sell I will sell in a garage sale or donate, but I am done out and through with Ebay and wasting my time.
I really wonder if it's all the International stuff. It really sounds like people are broke and don't have money is all. The COVID days of free money is pretty much over. I've been lowering prices and accepting way more offers for sales at least.
What you said in your video resonated with me as I was using Ebay International shipping before they came out with the changes. I went ahead and upgraded anyway about 4 or 5 weeks ago. My impressions and sales started dropping immediately. So after watching your video I opted out and within 8 hours I had 6 Sales which for what I"m selling is a pretty good day. Todays off to another good start.. Might be coincidence but I highly doubt it. Thanks for the heads up!!

Selling on eBay has ALWAYS been disappointing. I've been on eBay for 25 years and never ever made not even a 10th of the money I made at my weekly Flea market. I can sell 1k a week there and it takes eBay year's to sell the same stuff!!!
Yeah, somewhere I saw eBay say that after opting out it may take 24 hours before it's effective on all listings. A morning until next night is still more than 24 hours, but at least they're honest (somewhere) that it's not immediate. I don't get that! Should be real easy to make the change immediately...
Oh wow. I’ve heard nothing but good and have had a ton of international sales since I opted in to eBay international shipping so I didn’t even know people were having issues. I had 7 international last week alone.

Oh my god. I just changed all my stock to international a week ago. This was just international postage it wasn't part of the program. My sales dropped 50%. I think you might be on to something.
My sales have been down more than 50% from last year (and last year was down from the year before than) since mid-Feb this year. January was a great month, however.
can the fact that the opting in changes your place in the new algorithm and therefore slows sales? and also with the financial industry going to all digital banking ending the value of the US Dollar and then further mandating how much other countries citizens can use their own money monthly make a huge difference in what is happening?? im almost fear what the global banking will effect us as eBay resellers
You hit on a point that I was thinking myself. Search has been broken lately when they launched this program. Overseas listings have been ranking higher than domestic listings. My thought is if you are opted into this program that your listings are somehow being pushed down lower in best match search.
Today I had a international sale. I shipped it then about 5 today i get a message from eBay saying they are canceling the sale due to that the buyer's account may be fraudulent. They took the money back out of my account after I shipped the item. What the heck is going on these days? Ebays message says I should contact the shipper to try to get the shipped item rerouted back to me. Who knows what that's going to cost.
QUESTION.... Do the loss in sales when opted 'in'... represent specifically Int'l sales.. or all sales in general? And were you in the previous ebay Global Shipping program?

I have never listed my items with weight and dimensions, I seldom know with certainty what a finished package will weigh. I was opted into the new program... and now my int'l buyers see a shipping price automatically... but the estimates would have to be high and incorrect because ebay doesn't know the weight and dimensions either.???? Most of my listings say 'ship worldwide' but buyers have always inquired re; cost individually. It's worked fine for years. Now, I expect they will see inflated int'l shipping costs and just move on and I'll never even know they were there🤔🤔I've already had one int'l transaction fall through. I plan to opt out.
Jon, I have 1136 items in my main store, been selling since 2000. I went completely flat on may 4th, and it lasted 7 days. I was told by two different Ebay agents that corporately sales were off 90% and they didn't know why, but we're adding me to the "get your Shxx together list". Today I finally am seeing traffic again. I made no changes, but saw the drop when the new recommend Promoted Listing amount literally doubled. Love to have a conversation with you. We could compare notes.
@lespi3162 , crazy. Check this out, mine would be 3.6 to 5.2%, I do 3.2% on everything, regardless. When they made the change, my recommendation is 7.2%. Totally random, if it was truly about getting impressions, you and I should be seeing the same recommendation. Very strange 🤔 John
Promoted listings is a jump the shark SCAM, if I sell an item does eBay make $...then sell it. It's bad enough when you ship items that cost as much to ship as the item cost(plus tax) that eBay pulls %25 right off the top, now they want another 10%(which =20%)? Naw, might as well throw it away. We sell one off stuff with little to no competition, if buyers want it they will word search find it. So heres the eBay progress to push sellers into promoted. They offer promoted, few bite on the culty bid against other members for listing position game. So they crush your ability to "make offers" 90% even when there are multiple watchers. Then they break the search engine so the word search doesn't even work so they effectively bury your items in absolutely unrelated junk. Watch your impressions, sales follow impressions. I've been on the phone with eBays play dumb reps(or actually are ignorant) and had them put in fix "tickets" to the Wizard of Oz "Tech Department" that will "get back to me in 24 to 48 hrs." I've done this at least 10 times, never hear anything back. 100% Culty ghosting. Promoted is just a scam, if it really worked, it would sell itself. We have had no uptick because of the few items we promoted.
I opted out. I loved being in it, but saw multiple sellers who sell a lot of products made by a manufacturer that makes up a lot of my sales that each said as soon as eBay automatically opted them into eBay International Shipping that they got bogus VERO violations on those items. They used their own photos and their own descriptions, so there was no IP violation. I guess the manufacturer says they have exclusive rights to import their products into Europe. What the manufacturer should have done is filed parallel import complaints, and perhaps those would have gotten handled by eBay like they claim it will. (Interestingly, their legal terms/conditions for the program still say the seller is responsible.) But, the manufacturer made bogus VERO complaints instead. Now those sellers have to choose whether to risk their account or stop selling one of the main product lines they sell. Interestingly, I shipped dozens of their products through the old eBay Global Shipping Program without a problem. So, I'm confused and don't know what's going on or if it's truly related, but I'm unwilling to take the risk.
I'm testing this out, opted out this morning around 9 a.m. and its already gone into affect. I only know because I've made 3 international orders in the last 15 mins. Most likely just due to lower shipping costs for the buyer. i liked the zero risk part of ebay international but if there's this kind of sales increase ill make up any loses with additional revenue.
I always have had Global Shipping Program and when it switched I kept the International Shipping. I have not seen any difference in sales but I sell brand new items. Maybe people do not want used items overseas unless you have really unique collectible items. I sold 1 item to China and 2 days later one to Hong Kong. Working now with a guy from Italy for 2 shirts. To me it just gives more eyes on your items. I don't think it hurts your business at all. Just may have been bad sales days for your items and you look for ideas of why things aren't selling and come up with International being the problem if you are new to it. But everyone's stores are different and it really comes down to the same thing every time... do you have cool items people want to spend their money on. And overseas pays a lot for shipping so they really have to want it to pay for it. Sometimes they pay more on shipping than the item alone. I always offer International ebay and USPS 1st class international as options worldwide. $5 more and you get the item over 1 month faster. Good luck with the sales. It is the beginning of slower season of sales too as we move into Summer. People want to spend money for vacations and not on items.
In my opinion with inflation bank failures and increased credit costs this is causing some sellers sales to go down because of the type of items they are selling
