My guess is that with the size of the 2 pieces missing from the front and back cover, CGC would cap it at a 0.5. And only once in a blue moon, maybe one generous grader would give it a 1.0, but I doubt it. But if you conserve it, fix the spine split and leaf cast the missing pieces, you could increase the grade. But would the value be raised for such a conserved copy, to be worth your time doing the conservation? Hard to say. Great book regardless. Kudos!
Happy Friday, Jerry, and congrats on this book. I agree that I don’t think it’s worth the effort of taking it out and cleaning it for a bump in grade. It will come back the same grade still in my estimation. So your assessment, Jerry.
Congratulations on your pick-up, Jerry. Buying comics on ebay is like playing golf. It's always those great shots on the last hole that make you forget about the rest of the round and keep you coming back.
Always feels good to score something cool for a deal, but sometimes I have sold items for cheaper than fair market value to get them moving on. However, you got what you wanted for a bargain and that's what we like.
Interesting information on quotation marks. I believe you are correct. With quotations ‘minute man’ is considered one word or phrase by most search engines which may very well have curtailed the ability for comic book buyers from seeing this book in a basic comic book search.
Love seeing GA books. I don't know if trying to increase the grade is worth it. It's complete, which is awesome, but having those missing cover chunks won't let it go above .5, I don't think. But I'm not a CGC expert.
Appreciate your thoughts on the matter. Thank you! I tend to agree with you after much thought on the matter. Enjoy the rest of your weekend my friend. Stay tuned.
Nice pick up Jerry. I was able to find it right off the bat with minute man fawcett. Could be the cover that limited people wanting it. Same thing happened to me on a Tales to Astonish. It had a name written on the cover and went well under FMV.
@@jerrythejitterbugcomicbook4098 Something recently changed with those search alerts. I have certain books saved. Like it might say 3 new and when I click the populated search it will randomly show 40, 70 etc listings and the majority of them would not even apply to the search. I have to click the link again and then search by recent to the 3 "new" items added.
What is missing that has it graded at 0.5? I thought that a tear/missing of less than half the cover does not count as incomplete. Was it a coupon or mailer on the inside covers that is missing? Or maybe something on the inside? Still a fantastic find. Congratulation on your search perseverance. : )
Thank you Michael. The book is complete minus the ripped pieces of the cover. That is why I was toying with the idea of cracking the book and cleaning and pressing it for a grade bump. Would live to bring it up to a 1.0.
Jerry this would be a great candidate for marrying the original cover with a facsimile cover that you were thinking of doing with the Justice League of America 1.
You are right my friend. I am just happy to have such a wonderful book, regardless of grade, in the PC. Appreciate your support and thank you for stopping by. Stay tuned!
