Thanks for checking out the video!
After taking Project Half-Send to the Track for the first time, it was very clear that in order to go back and put down a better time, we need some mods! Specifically mods that will help us stop faster and more consistently.
It's time to install Brake Pads and Rotors as well as a Rear Motor Mount!

For anyone looking at this in the future, you can use forscan to engage the ABS pump to bleed your breaks automatically

I upgraded my brakes on a 2015 Ford Escape, but I took a different approach. The pads and rotors are not the main problem when the brakes start to heat up. I live in Palm Springs area and the temperatures are brutal during summer. Is the brake fluid and brake lines. I felt immediate improvement with Hawk 600 brake fluid and stainless steel brake lines. Later on when was time to change the pads I got Hawk brake rotors and brake pads. I have 125,000 on my Escape 2.0 ecoboost awd. The brake feels great and it really brakes hard. I love my Escape because many parts are interchangeable with the Focus ST, especially when it comes to engine performance components

Love your videos, the discs are on the wrong way around. EBC say to mount them against the grain. Either way works but just saying :)

I love the CP-e stg 2. I tried the Boomba and it had a very noticeable amount of vibration, but the CP-e is really only slightly noticeable with the AC on and that can be helped with an idle RPM bump.

Did you guys only change the front brakes? My ST is my daily driver and I’m looking to do a track day this season (on a bud jet ofc). Should I just get the ebc red stuff or do you think the yellow is necessary for a track day? Also should I do SS brake lines or is that not necessary?

Awesome video gents. What's the approximate cost of this upgrade? Looks badass and functional as well.
@EdgeAutosport
@EdgeAutosport 3 года назад
For the Focus ST, the total price is $638.43 for the rotors and pads for all 4 corners. The lines will add about $100 roughly.

Honestly a little surprised you didn't go big break on these, looking forward to see you lap it on those. What is the break in procedure on these pads?
@EdgeAutosport

We'll be doing more brake stuff in the future so watch out for that... Break in is very fast and easy on most pads.

Theyre aiming for more mild upgrades so big brakes might be too much imo. However I am glad theyre doing this video to help me decide on a brake upgrade

I thought i was the only one that had issues with the stock lugs 🤣🤣. I effed mine up taking them off. And fyi alot of people dont use vacuum bleeders for bleeding, I myself just hook a rubber hose to the bleeder and drop it into brake fluid and push air out while sucking fluid in.
@DeathKillaGaming

When I bought my ST my lugs were stripped... Worst experience trying to get them off without stripping it more, then I just ended up buying new ones anyway haha.

@@DeathKillaGaming man them factory lugs were wierd. I effed mine all up bc I finally just got aggrevated and tapped the smaller size socket on to get a grip on it. I changed mine and haven't regretted it or looked back. About to be doing the brakes and suspension soon now that it's tuned.

@@richardlapoint1845 Yea I had one wheel that only one finally came off and I lost my cool and got a hammer and made a 19.5 go on 😂 replaced them and never have had a issue. I’m currently ordering Pad and rotors and a rrm for my ST also.

Mine got warped after 1k of hard miles in the canyons on my 17 si’ with yellow stuff pads, maybe 1.5k miles in. When they are cold it’s really noticeable but after they get warm and expand and it becomes a lot less noticeable. I daily it from time to time I have about 4K miles on the rotors now. Resurface or buy new? Since they are cheap I guess buy new. But I’d like to upgrade again to something that will last? Then again what really lasts if ur really pushing it. Would a bbk last the same? Decisions...
@EdgeAutosport
@EdgeAutosport 3 года назад
That's a great question. To be honest, it happens to all rotors depending on the situation. Sometimes it has to do with break in. I've had nice rotors warp because I used too aggressive pads on the street, they didn't heat up enough and were so abrasive when cold that it chewed up the rotor within a week and warped them pretty much instantly. I think if you bring in heat too quickly, it can cause it too. So getting them up to temp slower could help. The harder you use them, the more likely something causes them to warp because you're abusing them. If the rotor can stil remain within spec, turning them wouldn't be a bad idea. But the harder you push a brake setup, the more often you have to replace. I've done a single track day in a WRX with brand new yellow stuff pads and rotors and they were half gone at the end of the day.

@@EdgeAutosport that’s my thought, they are really good tho for the price and definitely better than stock. I appreciate your thoughts on the subject. I learn something new everyday! For keeping it simple, I’m sticking with ebc.

I got the Yellowstuff pads and the same ebc slotted rotors for the front brakes on my ST and they still fade just as bad as stock. I don't get it.
@EdgeAutosport
@EdgeAutosport 8 месяцев назад
have you upgraded to steel braided lines and flushed fluid? Over time the quality of your brake fluid degrades and can perform worse. If it still feels bad, maybe try going up to Reds?
