You gotta watch Part 2 to see what it took to put this machine in top running order. I'm not gonna say too much more other than "SOME" saw dealers should look @ the bigger picture. Have a customer for life or try to #uc$ em one time for the sale. The LADY I bought this saw from was totally taken advantage of. Sad. Watch Part 2

I have an Echo CS 310 and its true precision piece of machinery. I am absolutely thrilled to bits with my Echo saw. It starts instantly every time, it is balanced perfectly and the engine has all the power l need and more. I am cutting extremely hard wood, Australian Iron Bark for home firewood. The saw never misses a beat. I would buy another CS Echo in a heartbeat.

I have a Echo 300EVL from the early 90,s , proably dosnt have a 5 hours run time , just trimmed a few limbs , stopped by a local Echo dealer and told him tune and new plug and anything it might need , it ran fine before i took it , he called me back , said the saw was junk , wouldnt start , asked me to give it to him for parts ! I took it home , it wouldnt run , talked to a neighbor that works on stuff , he checked and the carb screws were turned all the way in ! He turned out a turn and a 1/4 , it started and ran fine , the local Echo dealer i guess was trying to sell me a new saw , ill never go back .

I really wish you were the only person this ever happened to. Sadly unscrupulous people will do this and the real tell tale sign of never go back is when you machine goes in as a complete unit and comes back in a milk crate totally disassembled. Happy to hear you got it running again. Good job guys🍺👍

Love my cs 310, only dislike is the carb adjustment screw tends to back out easily. Easy enough to screw down but need to do this after every 3 uses.

Sorry to say that's the state of car repair too. I've had a few times that I've gone for an oil change and was handed an estimate for work I needed that the "mechanic" said was a safety issue, work that would set me back between $1000-$2000. This scare tactic frightens a lot of people that now believe they're driving a dangerous vehicle. Luckily I have a guy that knows what he's doing, works out of his home for quick work like suspensions and brakes etc. I have him check it out and those estimates get whittled down to as low as nothing and as high as $150. People with little knowledge of cars or are physically unable to inspect or work on their vehicle need to find a guy like that. Kudos to people like you that treat their customers honestly.
@ZombieDaveAZ
@ZombieDaveAZ 2 года назад
I couldn't agree with you more Joe. I have had guys bring in machines and ask me to put it back to "normal" after they worked on it so they can return it and get a new machine under warranty. The repair would be next to nothing but they want to be dishonest. I get how some people can be like that.

If you look up all the part prices its about a $600 or more saw. I have 3 of them all cs-310s got about 80 cords of mesquite thru them. Only complaint is the sprockets seem a little soft. But running and cutting they kick ass. Echo is the only equipment i will buy. South texas rules!!!!!

Echo CS-310. BEST saw in it's class. Dependable, reliable, and enough power to complete most jobs. I've owned and repaired them all. Husqvarna, Craftsman, Stihl, Poulan, etc....My humble opinion, Echo is the right choice. If there was something negative to say about it, you would find it here. For it's price range and size, nothing beats it. #1 in my book all the time. Don't waste your time buying a name, buy one that will last a lifetime with proper care and maintenance. Finally, feed it non ethanol fuel with the proper mix of two cycle oil and drain it completely after each use. Honestly, you will wonder why you considered anything else.

The price point is a blessing and a curse. Under $200 for new and repairs are priced high enuf by the stealership to justify buying a new one. It's a shame. I have a cs330T and a cs 310 of my own. They are very dependable. Thanks for the comment and you are absolutely correct. Very good saw for the money.

@@ZombieDaveAZ i wouldnt say price is blessing and curse in this price range. usually these things broke when people "dont use em right" like drops the saw or something. we have this same saw in our cottinge now about 2 years, nothing wrong with it, keeps going. and i myself bought maccullogh saw (-50% sale) and in year have felld 20+ trees and limped many more, not a single issue with it, good for the price, no need for carb tune up or anything.

@@ZombieDaveAZ California is banning the sale of all small engine equipment, 2 and 4 stroke. I have a fairly new CS-590 and now a spare CS-310, so I’ll be ok for a while. Despite what the news media says, there is a rural California that doesn’t like the way our state is run.

I just bought a brand new echo cs 400 and chain is getting loose very quickly and I’m on my second chain in a week or so! I have been cutting small stumps a lot ( 30 plus stumps) and getting into some dirt and chain is probably heating up quickly n stretching due to overheating etc and being dull already!! But still don’t see how it can get so loose!! Even came off a time or two! And yes I’m somewhat familiar with saws and echo! Been using my dads echo cs 590 timber wolf for several years!! But don’t remember this! In fact I bought my echo because I was familiar with his echo timber wolf ! It does start right up though!
@ZombieDaveAZ
@ZombieDaveAZ 4 года назад
Everything you are describing especially the chain derailing sounds like it's on backwards. I'm just saying. Stumps and dirt will fill it up pretty fast..
@burtonkephart6239
@burtonkephart6239 4 года назад
ulitepilot aka Zombie Dave DONT mean to be snarky but... absolutely not!! Chain is and was on properly on both chains !! But I’m sure dirt has dulled it fast and so a dull chain gets hot fast stretching chain I guess. My dads echo 590 timber wolf didn’t have this problem as much but it happens to them all eventually . Somebody said it could be the chain aka it’s a average chain and that when they bought a quality stihl brand chain it stopped!! Echo uses Oregon chains which are ok but under repeated stress with stumps and hitting dirt they probably won’t last very long so you need better!!

Question for you. I was thinking of purchasing a Stihl 180 at first, by my lawn guy suggested I rethink it for the use I have for it and go with what he uses, the Echo CS-310. As luck would have it, all the local Stihl dealers here were out of the model I had wanted, so I went to a local store and picked up the Echo CS-310, instead. However, in looking at videos on the Stihl chainsaw, some folk recommended an upgrade of the bar and chain to the saw. He used a 50ga bar and chain. Is that even necessary with this chainsaw? Thanks. I really enjoy watching y our videos, but I do wish they were somehow marked so that I didn't have to hunt through all the videos just to find the Echo ones I wanted to view. I was looking to find the finish of this video from after the second video was shot, but I guess I missed it. I wanted to see the final outcome on and this chainsaw repair you were making. I really do learn a lot from watching your videos. Again, thanks for posting them.
@ZombieDaveAZ
@ZombieDaveAZ 3 года назад
Hi James, thanks for reaching out, the new stihl saws are equipped with the new M-tronics. They are the next step before fuel injected saws make there way over here to the states. A Stihl 180 is probably too small but you never told what kind of use you would be using it for. Either way a 310 with a 16" bar and a good Oregon chain works just fine. It won't lug or bog down the engine and if the chain is sharp it will cut like a beast all day long. The occasional 10" tree for firewood puts this saw front and center to get the job done. It's not constructed to work all day every day bucking and felling 20-25" trees. I like echo and would have to side with your friend on this one. The warranty is better for the homeowner with the cs-310 as well but you might wait weeks if it goes out for warranty work. Try to buy from a shop that has a mechanic that comes in a few times a week and not from someone like Ace hardware or Home Depot that sends your machine out for repair. As far as the follow up on the complete rebuild of my last 310, the video was too long and I did not have enough space on my phone to have 2 copies. So it's lost dog gonnit! Any questions or particulars that you might have a question about, I can sure shoot that video and post it for you. Stay safe 🍺😷👍
