This is an original early 500lv that i bought from the original owners son. The bar is obviously not factory but the saw is mint. I also have the original case and tool kit. This saw is a survivor from the recall.
A little story on the recall, this saw uses a points ignition system, to get at the points you have to remove the flywheel. If someone improperly removed the flywheel and damaged or stressed the flywheel, it could potentially burst causing injury. So basically if you turned one of these saws into your Echo dealer they would give you a brand new cs-510evl or equivalent. The 510 and models after that had electronic ignition so removal of the flywheel for normal maintenance was not required. This is still an open recall from Echo!
I chose to preserve this one instead of cashing it in for a shiny piece of plastic, It may even be the last one out there! So here is a video of it cutting one last time before it goes into storage. Keep in mind the wood I am cutting is frozen and the saw's gaskets / fuel lines are 40 years old.

I have an early serial number one that hasn't run in over 30 years. It was my father's, and has just been sitting in my shed. I finally broke it out yesterday, pulled the carb out, and checked it over. It needed a new fuel line, and the jets needed a bit of adjustment, but it runs great!

I have just bought one off a guy for $40, I knowing it was one of the recall numbered ones and it runs great but the issue is with the clutch hub assembly ,it can fly off and we all what could happen with that and I guess has! It supposed to take some special tool to take it or flywheel off. I am in process of having mine replaced with an equal sized brand new saw valued right at about $500 for the $40 saw I bought with a bad and striped out clutch and gear assembly. No sentimental value just a score of a deal. I'm curious if you ever found an issue with this one or opted to trade it for the new one, because I can litteraly hear a metal tinging sound coming from this saw that would have me a little concerned on using it!

Actually, I have an early cereal saw myself still running and still using it so, I don't believe it's the last one out there and I choose to keep mine as it was handed down from my father
