I wanted a Stihl for Christmas.....my old lady got me an Echo......I hadn't researched them ..... It's just there is a Stihl plant in McKinney Texas right by where I used to work. After watching many reviews.....I think my old lady outsmarted me once again . Thanx for your review!

She did good the 620 is the best 60cc on the market imo. Will last a lifetime without regular visits to the dealer and if it ever needs rebuilt parts are way cheaper and readily available online.

After multiple plastic parts on my Stihl's breaking (gas caps, run switches etc) I bought a Echo CS590 and haven't looked back. While I kind of wish I'd gone for the 620, with a muffler mod and some other minor upgrades I'm very happy. Best saws for the money in my book.

I bought a 620P back in May after initially looking to purchase a comparable Stihl of Husqvarna. The plethora of negative reviews on Stihl and Husqvarna's pro saws was very troubling to me. Most were related to these new electronic carburetors and poor customer service after the sale. That's when I learned about rave reviews of the Echo CS-590 Timber Wolf. I did some research and decided I wanted the 620P. A pro caliber chainsaw with a conventional carburetor, no negative reviews, a 5 year warranty and $200 or more cheaper than the other two brands. I ordered my 620P with a 24" bar and chain. I have been nothing short of impressed! The 620P has the torque you want in a work saw. I have fully buried the bar bucking and it will spit chips like a beast with no bogging. The 620P is a rock solid saw and easy to work on and tune. I recently tached it being broke in and it turned out to be set perfectly by Echo. The 620P can easily run a 27" bar as it has power to spare with the 24" bar. I do feel it is best balanced though with the 24". With a muffler mod and carb tune the 620P with a 27" bar will even out cut some 70cc saws running 24" bars. I watched a guy do it on RU-vid in a head to head comparison. My only complaint with the 620P is its on the heavy side for extensive limbing. But to be fair the 620P isn't designed to be a limbing saw, it's a felling and bucking saw as well as an ideal saw for large diameter firewood. The 501P (as good as or better than the MS 261) which I also bought is perfect for limbing and in most cases what I would consider the ideal all-around general purpose firewood saw. Most people could get by with just the 501P and if you only want one chainsaw, this is the one I highly recommend. If you want or need a two saw arsenal, which I think is best, (because no matter how proficient you are with a chainsaw, it sure is nice to have a backup not IF but WHEN you get the bar pinched) then I'd buy the 501P and the 620P or the 501P and the soon to be released 73cc? (I believe) pro saw Echo is about to unveil on the US market if one needs a saw bigger than the 620P.

@Danny Gonzalez 20" bar should balance fairly well. If anythjng it might be a little heavy in the rear. It rips with a 24" bar. An 18" would scream so that should give you an idea of what a 20" would do. The 620P will run a 27/28" bar no problem.

Saw arrived yesterday ru-vid.comUgkxfQm1wmg0ItKDLavxj1nXtQY9HP7EF504 and today I cut about 3/4 cord of wood with it. Make sure you get an extension chord that is at least 12 gauge wire, minimum. This is my first electric in about 10 years, and things sure have improved. The self-sharpener works great, and it just kept cutting through some pretty decent logs. Wear your eye protection, and ear protection. Excellent saw.

I just ordered a cs501p to use along with a older (with a whopping 10 hours if that on it) Husquvarna 350. I dont take trees down any more and sold my Husq. 395xp (that was a beast of a saw) but its the perfect saw for me to cut up smaller rounds. Just curious when you say the stihl saw seemed more "plasticky" with less metal components than the echo what specific parts/pieces are you referring too? I don't own an echo but have picked up many. I do own a stihl ms 261ccm though and considered the 361/362 but opted for 261. Both 2 and 3 series saws are really clos in build quality and features. That being said my flywheel cover/rear handle/top cover are polymer or plastic. As well as the handle bar. Everthing else is magnesium..I would say 70-80% of the saw body is magnesium or metal. I've heard this argument before from Husky and Echo peeps and from my experience the only difference is the handlebar. Husky and many Echo are aluminum or steel. I owned a 545 mk II and thought it was a great little saw but my 241 was the one I picked up 90% of the time. Really only grabed the 545 when I ran outta gas and ended up giving to my brother for his b-day. Anyway if Echo's have changed and are now made of 100% magnesium or metal plesse forgive me. Or if there are some components that I'm missing please elaborate. Other than that I feel you entire video was based on promoting echo saw. Not really a fair assessment of the two.

I’m not a fan of the 362 but it does have one notable feature that the Echo does not: captive bar nuts. That said the 620 is a better value and has more usable power IMHO. The 620 is the best choice all around in the 60 cc class. The only cons are the air filter and no captive bar nuts. It doesn’t have the rpm or throttle response of a 562 but has more torque in the bigger wood.

Not to be that guy but those chaps aren't gonna save the back of your thighs when you drop start a saw with the bar break disengaged. ECHO IS GARBAGE, just avoid Echo products completely. Their electric stuff is amateur hour crap. Do yourself a favor and buy a good gas saw from a REAL tool company like Stihl, Johnsereds or Husqvarna. I dumped a lot of money into their electric chain saw and hedge trimmer. While the appliances themselves aren't too bad - the battery packs are an obvious scam - they break instantly for no reason and they cost over $200. That's how they rip you off. Obviously the battery packs are carefully designed to separate suckers from their money as quickly as possible. Echo is Chinese scam-bait that isn't worth what it costs in either the short or long term. Don't throw your hard-earned money away on this absolute crap.
@justme-ij2qy
@justme-ij2qy 2 года назад
I stay away from ALL battery operated crap except for very specific tools. As for the chinese comparison I wouldn't know because I haven't owned a chinese made chainsaw. I have however owned just about every mid to top brand out there. 47 years ago I was born into a family of loggers so of course I got into it myself. These days I no longer log for a living, but I still use a chainsaw multiple times a week. This summer I decided to try the echo CS 4910 to fill the midsized hole between a little husky and a stihl ms 460. I am very happy with it, in fact it is a much better saw than many husqvarna and stihls that I have/had. I bought it to replace a husqvarna 460 60cc saw and I am glad that I did. The 50cc 4910 is lighter, more powerful, and just simply runs better. The only complaint that I have is the air filter, but it is okay by using grease around the seating ring. I GAVE AWAY the husqvarna after less than 1 year of use because it was too problematic from day one and spent too much time in the shop. ALL manufacturers have some issues from time to time, that is a given, but I can say that echo is far from junk and I will go further in saying that for the money others cannot compete.

It rarely boggs down even on even the toughest oaks. Though it is a little hefty with that big bar, once I law it down to cut the saw pretty much does all the work. It fire's right up no matter if it's 95° or 25° outside. I have nothing but respect for stihl saws, but on my budget I went with echo for all three of my saws (310, 4910, 620). Difference in wood, tree in open less dense, thus Echo cut like butter, the Stihl was cutting in a place not cleared out where water saturates and holds water longer making that tree more dense. I've owned several old (1978-1993) Stihl saws and they do run an cut nicely. However, working at an Echo dealer for 10 years now, the new Echo saws are beasts. The 680 you tested has been refined now, and we now offer the 80.7cc CS-800 which is a high-rpm monster of a saw.

I cut mesquite and oak and the saw gets it done I put a 20-in bar on it as soon as I bought it I might want to go to a 18 and see how the power is on them larger trees I'm getting to. I'm definitely an echo fan.

My first saw was/is cs352, love that monkey, awesome for brush work and under 20 inch trees. Second saw was Stihl ms880, I milled a 4 year drop Doug fir, 52 inch wide at center, hardest Doug fir I ever cut. Third saw is cs590, much heavier than C's 352(duh) but sets the field on fire. I even milled redwood with that. Fourth saw was a Stihl knockoff 90CC Ojenas, (copy of Ms 070), milled with it until the cheap throttle body gave way, intend to repair it with original Stihl parts, fifth saw was a PTDO(husky knockoff) worked like a cs590 until it too had throttle body failure, was able to get the wire hook back on, milled some redwood, it slipped out again. Not bad though for 105 dollars. Sixth saw was. MS190D, great for dumpster compacting if you don't hit metal. Both stihls burnt in house fire, but I have absolutely no complaints about the Echo. Next saw will be Echo too. There are a few videos on my channel.

I’m not saying Stihl is bad. I’m saying they rest on their laurels more now than they used to. Every professional government funded forestry service basically uses Stihl and so they can start cutting corners on making plastic parts and making things cheaper as long as ppl associate the name with professional use. Stihl, husky, echo all great saws very little problems with any of them, just go with a good dealer that’s close to your home and you’ll be fine. I’m lucky enough to have all 3 dealerships close to me and they’re all great to work with because they know if they aren’t then the other 2 will take all the business.

I inherited my grandfather's echo Cs600p. He ran that thing with a 27" chain and beat the orange out of it. Before he lost his ability to cut wood when his health decline rapidly he had a salesman talk him into a Stihl MS 362 and it is also a great saw but It seemed to lose power after a hard day of abuse. Since his passing my uncle has had it get worked on seems like every time he needs to use it.

Got very sick w/covid and haven't used my Echo in 3+ yrs. Last week went out to the cold barn where it stays, but a bit of fresh fuel on top of the old and it fired like I ran it Yesterday. Unbeatable reliability and great power. Starts perfect in -10° to 100°f, every time. I run 32" bar on mine sometimes 😉

I have found that Husqvarna saws are alot easier on the hands with their vibration control. ECHO battery operated appliances are complete junk - at least the battery packs are. I've owned this saw for just over a year and I've already had 3 battery packs die on me. Wouldn't be a huge deal if the battery packs were inexpensive, but they cost over $200 and they are virtually guranteed to appear as "Defective" on their charger in a matter of a month or two...just long enough for the warranty to expire.

With a new chain and a running engine both should obviously cut. The differences are in the little things. Sthil is the best saw on the market when it comes to maintaining and heavy professional use. In the last three years I have been through one 362 and one 562 XP. The Stihl was in and out of the shop since new. It would bog badly in the cut, was a bugger to start and whenever it decided it would flat out not run at all. Got it back from the shop, it’s seventh time, after a carb and coil/microprocessor replacement, which was out of warranty buy a few weeks. Keep in mind the shop has looked over this saw and just came off warranty. No happy at all with dealer. Always going to do all before the sale... Anyhow took it out in the woods, I always burn non-e gas and Schaeffer’s two-stroke oil. Got the saw into a 20” or so oak tree and about halfway through, she seized. Couldn’t believe it. It had run lean and burnt a hole in the piston crown. Stihl did nothing to assist. It’s in the barn in a box aging. The Husky story is similar, different shop. The 562 ran well for two years and then had starting having bogging issues off idle. Stumbled, erratic acceleration. You know, all the things a pocket screwdriver fixes in a few moments. Decided to get the 620PW. I can tell you it’s a great saw, starts easy, cuts great, decent on fuel. A five year warranty to boot. I sell firewood so my saw is used everyday. I have had the Echo just over a year it’s gas, oil, one pull and I’m cutting. Not to mention hundreds cheaper than the other two offerings. Two piston rings, a Japanese built two-stroke, it all makes for one reliable saw. Some say not professional-I beg to differ!

The horror stories I've read and heard concerning those electronic carburetors are what drove me away from buying a Stihl or Husqvarna pro saw and lead me to Echo. It's nearly impossible now to find a Stihl or Husqvarna pro saw with a conventional carburetor, as the vast majority of those models have been bought up. I looked for the MS 261 and MS 362, but the only ones available are the M-tronic versions now. I own the 501P and 620P. I couldn't be happier. They start reliably and easily, run smooth with great torque and power and are easy to keep maintained and serviced. Plain and simple... they are rock solid chainsaws built with the K.I.S.S. formula in mind. And they cost a great deal less with a far better warranty than the competition. The key is to find a good local Echo dealer. Dolmars (Makita) are more comparable to the Echo's build quality, but they too are just about as expensive as Stihl and Husqvarna, and parts/service dealers are far and few between in comparison to Echo.

These early renditions of electronically modulated carbs seem to have a lot of issues. Husky has seemed to have gotten it spot on with the 572xp but the 575/576xp and early 562xp were all pretty lousy reliability wise. My uncle has a non-mtronic 362, and it's a decent saw. Had a 361 prior, as did my brother. And to be completely honest, I prefer my echo cs590 over the stihls. Nothing really against those two stihls but just not real impressed. The echo definitely has more bottom end torque in bigger wood or buried. The stihls like to rev for sure, but don't quite have the snot down low when 'the going gets tough'.

There was more plastic features on the Echo saw? The cover on the chain side is the only piece of metal on the body, while practically the whole Stihl is metal. I had it for a less then two months and the spline by the front vibration dampener, that's part of the rear handle broke. I've worked with Husky's and Stihl's for over 20 years and I've never busted one so easy. Now I'm in the middle of taking the entire saw apart to replace the rear handle. The worst part is the adjustment screws on the carb are plastic. I was trying to adjust it last week and they were frozen, so it stripped right away. I got new screws on order, but wish they would just send me real metal ones. And this is supposed to be a professional series saw. On the plus side it is well balanced and has decent power. I got one of these instead of a Stihl or Husky and I totally regret it. If you're just using it to get firewood once in a while it will be fine, but I wouldn't recommend it for daily professional use.
