@@sithddy7208Yes we can blame him. Just like this being Echo’s show, that was She-Hulk’s show as well. There’s nothing wrong with looking forward to DD, but when you’re constantly moaning about him not showing up each episode until he finally does, THAT gets irritating. The titular character in any movie or show should be who we look forward to.
Hate to be that guy rn, but Daredevil isn’t a “distraction,” in fact he’s the reason y’all give a crap about this show in the first place. If Marvel didn’t rent out DD’s villain and those three seasons of DD didn’t happen, what would this show be? Complaining about DD in Echo would be like complaining about Toby Maguire being in No Way Home. How can you possibly have the “Get out of the way boys, it’s Echo’s show 😤” attitude when you’re literally using an established villain from HIS show as your main villain? Just stop it, you silly people.
Stan Lee emphasized that the first and most sacred rule of writing any Marvel hero or villain is to make us care about the characters or the rest of the story suffers. And right with the first episode I am absolutely invested in Maya Lopez. This woman has been through as much trauma and loss as any other major MCU character. I really liked Maya in Hawkeye, but I LOVE her in Echo!
As a member of the Choctaw Nation, I'm overwhelmed with excitement to see representation of our language and culture on screen. Thank you for a great review and for supporting the show!
The way the fight choreography and camera choreography worked together in that fight scene was really impressive. The way they would swap the actress and stunt person in and out using edits and camera tricks was super well done
Did they swap out the actors with stunt people because if so it was very terrible. Most of those hits were so bad you could see clear as day that they weren't even coming close enough to look real.
I agree it was weird the Kingpin seemed to be one of the only people that didn’t know sign language. But the more I thought about it, yeah he’s probably doesn’t have much time to learn. But I think the better excuse is that Maya doesn’t mean enough to him to take the time to learn.
Just happy to see marvel is going back to it’s grittiness and darkness. Love the representation and Alaqua Cox. Just seeing daredevil in the original suit made me scream 😂🔥🔥💯💯
I wonder if daredevil went up against Ronin, as much as they were going up against Fisk I feel like those interacting is like Punisher and Daredevil from season 2 or similar to it. Soon as they did the one shot, I knew daredevil was popping up. I also like it from echo pov cause in Netflix daredevil obviously it’s been from daredevil pov. So it was nice to see a different pov of that.
Yeah this confirms he wasn't blipped as Maya's dad was killed during the blip and her first mission was likely not long after and Daredevil is there. @@hamhockbeans
They handled the ASL lines nicely. Quick but informative enough to keep a steady pace and not force the viewer to read too much. Most of the protagonists emotions and motivations come through her visual acting so it's all balaned rather well.
They handled daredevil perfectly. He still takes hits and Maya held her own but in the end he would always be on top with his insane skill and experience. The way he quickly reacts to things the moment they’re about to land is so satisfying.
Does it feel as though Daredevil was holding back to you? His fighting abilities has always been raw & it seems as though it was toned down. The episode is still amazing but Daredevil could’ve went harder in that fight.
I finished the first episode then I watched your reaction to it and you guys are having the same feeling for the episode as I did halfway through the episode I was thinking to myself that this feel this particular episode, especially the end, music and credits, and everything involved feelsso much unlike a Disney+ channel show and honestly the first feeling I got was oh this is an FX show very much felt like a show that would be on FX enough. Thanks guys gotta watch the rest of the series and then catch up with you for your reviews. Bye.
I loved the fight between the two. Daredevil dodging without looking, him using the connection between the batons to throw one and recall it, Maya doing the wind up kick. Not to mention the part where he hits her leg and she doesnt reaction, and daredevil quickly looks down and realizes its a prosthetic leg
I still don't get y'alls issue with Kingpin in Hawkeye... Other than him wearing a Hawaiian shirt for 2 minutes he acted exactly the same... Still think it's such a weird criticism even after rewatching it. But I love Hawkeye so🤷🏻♀ But I am looking forward to watching the rest of this as well
Yeah. I feel like some people act like Kingpin’s not himself if he doesn’t brutally kill someone in each appearance. But at least for me, while he didn’t kill anyone on screen in Hawkeye, what’s important is that I still felt like he COULD’VE at any given moment. Like he still felt intimidating as all hell.
@@ceramiccoconuthe has always been powerful.. the dude goes toe to toe with Spider-Man.. SPIDER-MAN alike come on lol ..he took punches from an enraged Peter in the comics .. he’s three ppl like rag dolls ect . How he is now is how he is in the comics he has damn near super strength.
@@shadowx8145facts in daredevil he was grounded an weak as heck to be more realistic.. now he’s in the mcu so they can display his strength more especially in a world with ppl like thor an hulk and captain America so on
This episode showed perfectly the “two worlds” Maya has to live in, with how the people who know Sign language and those who don’t. This concept also shows in other parts of her life with the two very different settings, Oklahoma and NYC (two worlds) and later in the second episode her somewhat mystical heritage coming into play. Her being skilled in hand to hand street level combat and criminal history compared to that “mystical” heritage that makes her special and larger than life (two worlds)
There was also a mini twilight reunion with the wolves. The chick in the beginning played Leah in twilight and the deep voice guy that owned the skating ring played Alpha wolf Sam. Maya’s grandpa was in twilight. Cool little fun fact :))
I died, laughing at how quickly Greg out of the corner of his eye saw John subdue Ayan and just called him out on it. I was laughing and dying through the whole conversation you guys were having about it you guys are awesome. I love you guys so so much.
Really? Cause Disney still control the woke media message throw in M-She-U movies and tv shows on more women then men in this decade. All except for Deadpool 3, which star Ryan Reynolds saved the day which his thinking skills and great luck.
@@edwinguaman5257nothing wrong with women In lead roles. Not all of Disney is woke. As Loki once said not all good people are good and not all bad people are bad.
This episode was such a joy to watch, but I had the same reaction to the opening scene. I thought I was watching the wrong thing. 🤣 That fight in the backroom was pretty good to me for the first episode. Also that surprise appearance during the fight was off the chain. I saw some stuff in that fight I've never seen in anything else before. I need to get back to watching the next episodes so I'll just say I'm looking forward to all of your reactions to this. I'm just wondering if anyone else might make a surprise appearance in the show now. Greg had the same thought that I did at the same exact moment about "Queenpin". This was possibly the funniest breakdown segment I've seen on the channel. I was laughing so much I had to replay parts of it a few times. Personally, I enjoyed the Hawkeye series. Both Daredevil and Hawkeye are two of my favorite Marvel Heroes. I really wish there was a way to have both of them in a Marvel project where they meet each other and initially fight after which they team up against a common enemy. Enjoyed the reaction 👍👍✌ out.
That whole scene from when they pop the dude on the head. Till they go back to kingpin saying “nobody has held there own against him”. Is no FUCKIN joke. One of the best fight scenes in the MCU. Camera work, audio work. Everything
Hey guys👋🏻. The man at the skate place that send the message was in Agents of Shield. Bonnie the cousin as an adult is play by the girl who voices Kahhori.
I loved the opening scenes where we get to see young Maya and her interactions with her family and how her mother died. The moments were able to convey a really great blend of being heartfelt and emotional and traumatic. I also really liked getting to see several of her scenes from the Hawkeye series, I think they were able to do such a great job at bringing us up to speed with where Maya’s character last left off. And I absolutely loved the fight scene in the warehouse, even before Daredevil showed up I thought that fight scene was incredible. The camera work, sound design, the brutal choreography and how violent it was really came together to make this such an impressive and amazing fight scene. And I feel like the choreography got even better when Daredevil showed up, each movement just felt so fast paced and intentional and their fight styles felt so true and accurate to their characters. Just getting to see Maya and Daredevil fight was so awesome and I really hope these two get to interact again.
The show is freakin' good so far! I'm only two episodes in, can't wait to finish it. I actually had to check a couple of times I was watching this on Disney Plus and not on HBO Max, LOL!
I can not believe people were crapping the fight at the beginning of this episode…saying it was terrible. And they ruined Daredevil blah blah blah. THEY ARE JUST REACHING SO HARD WITH THAT ONE…and I agree with them from time to time with issues in the MCU. BUT THE START TO THIS SEASON WAS FANTASTIC!
I wouldn’t say they were “reaching” with this critique. In the Daredevil series, he’s fought against Bullseye and a whole clan of ninjas…but, struggles with fighting against her? I can see their frustration.
I enjoy the street level stuff far more than the cosmic stuff. Gritty, bloody TV MA stuff. Loved it. I just wish we had more street level type projects coming. As of now there’s only Echo, and DD: BA, until SM4 whenever it comes out.
No matter which reactors came up first in my notifications I always watch you boys first!!! Coy has so much wisdom (and also very cute!!) and John and Greg are just awesome (especially John 😉) another great reaction guys….
The series is solid, very flawed, but there’s a lot to love & this is a huge step in the right direction for the MCU. It doesn’t reach the highs of Daredevil or The Punisher, but it’s definitely better than some of the lesser seasons of the Netflix series’
@@jordanpostle8641 Wtf are you talking about. Things can be good and have flaws. Netflix Daredevil was great but had flaws. Now if they said perfect instead of solid you’d be right. Please don’t be deliberately obtuse.
@@randellhicks4924 haha no things can't be good and have flaws. If I buy a vehicle that has flaws causing issues then it is not a good vehicle. If someone is flawed and does bad things then they are not a good person.
Nice detail at 10:47 that she notices the police sirens by looking at the flashing lights on the walls, while other characters (and most of the audience) would be reacting to the sound.
@lilbubblegumleaks8104 I think it's terrible and has nothing to do with politics. It was supposed to be 10 episodes and Feige said it was unreleasable so they removed half of it and chopped it all together and you can tell
Just finished ep two and I'm loving it. Maya is one of my fav female characters in the comics and I think so far they're doing her justice so I'm happy lol
I really liked this show, straight up. I really don't get the hate behind it before it even came out. I thought it was amazing, and I didn't have any complaints besides a small scene in the finale, which to me says a lot.
Its because people are legit being racist saying this is woke but the show doesnt push anything like when She hulk came out and was just a mess This is just Maya and her culture but they dont over due it to the point its consider woke culture
I love how Coi’s mind works lol. Even though he way over thinks 80% of everything that comic book movies/series only wish they had the imagination for. Coi be like that street sign is a reference to Avengers number 120 making me think this will tie into a Galactus variant.
I really like the tone and the cast. Can't wait what's gonna happen in the next Episode. My only criticism are the Weird editing choices in the first half. Felt like a Trailer in parts (and it didn't need the trailer before the credits).
as of right now. i have only seen ep 1.. and i loved it. yes there was some CGI stuff that was video gamey.. but i didnt even care cus they kinda nailed the vibes. aslo i got to see Charlie Cox again.. so im happy.
Sorry guys couldn’t wait to let you guys know not spoiling anything. I am up to episode three right now and the pacing of the episodes are great. I am flying through the episode not even realizing I am at the end of it because I am so entranced by what’s happening I am hoping the really hoping you guys, enjoy the episodes as much as I am nothing feels slow nothing feels out of place. I think they actually pulled us off. We’ll see ya by the end but I think they did a good job so far. See you guys later I mean watch you guys later.
So happy to see that you guys reacted to that awesome delayed kick the same way I did. Been seeing a lot of people crapping on the fight especially that delayed kick. I don’t understand it. lol.
One thing that stood out for me as part of the fight choreography was that I couldn't tell when Alaqua was in the fight and when it was her stunt double. There are some spots where I assume it was her double, but I'd really like to find out how much stunt work Alaqua did herself. The editing has me believing that she did quite a lot of it.
This wasn’t filmed here but it does a great job at making Georgia feel like Oklahoma. Btw Oklahoma is a 2 day straight drive to NY. Can easily be a 3 day drive.
