Minor error in the video: The Larry Bird game was in New Orleans. Teams used to play at an "alternate" home site like this a lot back in the day (Hawks played like a dozen home games there in 1985).

What a neat factoid! I want to know more about this, like when it started, ended, and how these sites were chosen, etc. I wonder what impact that had on building the league’s popularity, since it might have been easier to go to your favorite team’s game at a site closer to home, even if the occasion was rare.

@Gibran Camus limited game time would be a disadvantage for a developing player, not a seasoned vet with a championship under his belt. kyrie having more rest than every starter and most bench players on every other team is a huge advantage for him. doesn’t diminish this performance, but don’t pretend like he didn’t have an edge by having more rested legs than most other players. that’s why teams having back-to-back games is a disadvantage for them. by your logic, a team with back-to-backs has the advantage because they’re playing more frequently and are getting more game time while the other team is resting.

The thing is kd was on the floor.. and he was so unselfish he let his friend go bananas. I'm sure it was a business decision also seeing as he has to play at home by himself... But man. Now The question is; When teams are doubling Kyrie, most likely off Ben Simmons, What position will Ben be playing. If he's the 4 and your doubling with pg/sg & pf , that paint looks mighty open. And if kd is playing the five, at that point, I'm sure you could land a plane in that lane. This may possible be the best playoffs in the last decade [Fixed Grammar]

@esekay3648
@esekay3648 2 года назад
@@raeserec535 true. I bet that man gonna bust out a 3pt shot at some point. Ppl forget jkidd wasn't much of a shooter in his early days, he scored a total of 0 points in the finals.(if I'm correct against the lakers) Later in his career he became a clutch and deadly 3pt shooter. Ppl with the gift of passing like Ben and kidd, tend not to shoot because they understand patience and the concept of getting the best shot. Sometimes the best shot is that guy flying down court before the defense. Sometimes it's just to dump it in to the big, sometimes it's hit the guy in the corner , but usually if i cant get my team an easy bucket the lay up is the 2nd highest percentage shot. I maintain that Ben Simmons can shoot and is most likely going to be really effective at it because a part of being a good shooter and player in general is shot selection. Ben does not like talking bad shots. Sorry for the ramble but I just think this cat is an untapped well.

It’s so not fair when Kyrie is on pace for 60 and you still can’t help off KD 😭

@Thinking Basketball: Am I crazy or have there been an insane amount of games where players scored 40+ points over the last 3 weeks? Maybe it would be worth looking into :)

Kyrie has the prettiest game in the league. Not even close. With that said, I'm on record saying it's easier than ever to score in the NBA. To me this isn't controversial at all. Look at all the 50 point games this month alone and the fact that scoring overall is up. The freedom of movement and 3 point spacing. I've said 50 is the new 40, but nobody seems to agree with me. I feel very strongly that I'm right but would love to know your opinion Ben. I respect your basketball knowledge more than pretty much anyone on RU-vid

Freedom of movement, 3-point spacing, and the ability to palm the ball have made small guards much more lethal than they've ever had the opportunity to be.

I concur I’ve watched the NBA since 1979 and it is mad easy to score a bucket. These small guards don’t have to worry about a 6’9! 245 Xavier McDaniel, going head hunting at the rim! What ever happened to defense ?

I see a lot of Kobe's scoring style in Kyrie's scoring: the pull ups, triple threats and pivots

Orlando Magic fans literally always cheer for the opposing team. Tourist town so Im not shocked that kyrie felt at home scoring 50. Its sad if youre a fan of the org, but damn is it exciting as a visitor. Watched Embid and Harden play the day before this game and the amount of MVP chants
