Since the prophecy found on Ulaan mentioned the Overmind, Zeratul departed to Aiur to the creature's death site in order to gain access to its memories. To do so, Zeratul had to make contact with four of the Overmind's tendrils... Zeratul was unable to connect with any of the tendrils. He was confused to experience feelings of death, fear, and joy, at the tendrils. The prelate moved to the Overmind's cortex and met Tassadar's spirit. Tassadar explained the Overmind's motivations during the Great War and revealed its apocalyptic vision of the future where the Dark Voice and the hybrids were victorious. Not gonna lie, I prefer the overmind as the main antagonist and the Xel'Naga being an unknowable entity in SC1. The Xel'Naga in SC2 being the bad guys are just the usual ROAR I AM A BIG SCARY SPACE OCTOPUS

Not really. It was only 1 Xel'Naga was evil.

Imagine standing in the fields and see 100s of giant floating crabs darkening the sky and millions of zerg just running towards cities. I picture every single protoss citizen being eaten and torn apart alive. You a lone survivor look for shelter, only to realize the whole fucking planet is overwhelmed by cannibalistic monsters. Every zealot pull their plasma blades before a single zerg consume your alive

You think this is a good thing? Am I the only one who actually noticed that Tassadars original voice actor, lends his voice to the Immortal unit instead of Tassadar HIMSELF in this game? Fuck this game, they really screwed everything up in this game. Starcraft 2 are made from a bunch of idiots that kept making mistake after mistake... So many stupid decisions

W-w-w-wait a second! If Tassadar is a Xel'naga, he surely knew WTF was happening from the begining. Why didn't he simply tell everything? This would've prevented so much pain.

So, the Overmind was a good guy?
@Mikanoes
@Mikanoes 5 лет назад
I mean, technically he just hated being told what to do and wanted to create something to act as a giant, "Screw you and everyone near you," to Amon. The Overmind still wanted to kill everything, but on it's own terms. It just didn't want the Zerg to be used by Amon and the Hybrids. To borrow a saying from Dany Pink, "I died saving the Zerg. The rest of the universe just got lucky."

@@Mikanoes I don't think it wanted to kill per se. The original idea that got completely retconned for SC2 was that both the Protoss and the Zerg were created by the Xel'Naga, with the Protoss being "smart", somewhat individualistic psionic beings, with the Zerg being the "strong", pretty much unthinking. They called it purity of form and purity of essence. As the Overmind itself explains just before the final Zerg cinematic in SC1, it's purpose was to assimilate the Protoss, because "Indeed, our two species are but opposite facets of a greater whole." This is the Overmind's purpose as it's always been. After it's death, Duran had no choice but to work on the hybrids artificially, since the natural way of creating Xel'Naga failed. It's actually unknown in BW if Duran is a Xel'Naga. He only said he is a servant of a far greater power. It's vague enough to allow for anything at that point - he could be a (much) lesser Xel'Naga (like in SC2, pretty much, although they never bothered saying why is Duran lesser) or a completely different faction altogether (with Xel'Naga being definitely gone with the Overmind). Or not a Xel'Naga, but some kind of a failsafe specifically for when Overmind fails. Only in SC2 they decided to go for the by then old crap of an old god corrupting everything because reasons. Of course, the overused "they're good guys, but have no free will because reasons" must be present. They used this bullshit storytelling for the entirety of SC2: the Overmind in WoL, Kerrigan in HotS and the entire Khalai Protoss in LotV.

I liked the story of SC2, but Amon is really bad villian. No personality, they did not show how much he believed in his cause. Mengsk in HOTS is far better villian, than Amon.
