In a concerted effort to boost adventure and eco-tourism in Meghalaya, the Meghalaya Tourism Department initiated a visionary project in collaboration with Trek The Himalayas. Beginning in January 2023, a team of experienced trek leaders, photographers, and documentation specialists embarked on an expedition to explore the lesser-known trails across the state. Working closely with local experts from the Meghalayan Age LTD., the team meticulously trekked through regions like Khasi, Garo, Ri-Bhoi, and Jayantia, uncovering trails intertwined with the rich socio-cultural heritage of the land. As part of the initiative, Trek The Himalayas also provided training to local volunteers to ensure the safe and sustainable management of adventure operations. The culmination of this endeavour can be thoroughly enjoyed in the recently launched "Echoes of the Hills, Trekking in Meghalaya" book.
