Who do you mean by 'they'? Byzantium fell along with the Aya Sofya when Fatih Sultan Mehmet conquered İstanbul in 1453. Since then European powers in ww1 tried to take it back from us but failed. Elhamdullilah it is a mosque and by the will of the Almighty it will remain a mosque.

It is in the good hands... If it was anybody else beside muslims than there would be no Hagia Sophia today.

Apparently you dont know what paganism is. Also, Christianity is a monotheistic religion. Its like you put words to other people's mouths.
