When that funky middle part comes in, ordinarily you'd play all these notes in a funky jam but not in this case. You draw out everything into these long notes and dyads to let the staccato of the organ come through. That's what Gilmour does but I feel compelled to do the same. It's almost like a reversal of roles. The guitar solo has all these long drawn out notes that sort of provide a foundation for the funkiness of the groove. It's a really cool effect and I'm not sure if I've heard anything similar anywhere else. But the groove becomes so overwhelmingly infectious, it just moves you like a man possessed back and forth in that 1 2 1 2 feel. So powerful. It's not so much dancy as it is, just driving and relentless. So great. Pink Floyd is so genius. There's so many cool little things like that to discover in their music. There's a quality to their music that you just don't find anywhere else.
Overhead the albatross Hangs motionless upon the air And deep beneath the rolling waves In labyrinths of coral caves The echo of a distant time Comes willowing across the sand And everything is green and submarine And no one showed us to the land And no one knows the where's or why's But something stirs and something tries And starts to climb toward the light Strangers passing in the street By chance, two separate glances meet And I am you and what I see is me And do I take you by the hand And lead you through the land And help me understand the best I can? And no one calls us to move on And no one forces down our eyes No one speaks and no one tries No one flies around the sun

Very good backing track. The most obvious way to tell that it's not from the band is because no drummer in the world sounds like Nick Mason. Try to copy Mason's unique style (good luck!) and this backing track can be passed off as original. Anyways, this is one of the best tracks out there because the organ sound is eerily similar.
Nick Mason is quite limited in technique, but his groove is inimitable. First, he is not precise in keeping rhythm. Second, his style is quite musical and he doesn't hit hard. It's this combination that gives a very hippie feel. His drumming is so recognizable that you notice how different a song is when Gilmour or Waters get someone else to do a famour Floyd track.
fisheatingdog Why did Pink floyd need a second drummer in 80th? Maybe because Nick was too busy to train a bit his technigue? You know, cars and all that stuff...
IN CRE DI BLE i never had such a great time playing a song, its just increidible, and that last picture is really hard, to see syd that way thanks a lot dude!
A fantastic video, thank you for uploading it. Could you possibly do the same for Echoes part 2, If it isn't too demanding a task, or let me know how it is achieved and I will do it. :)
how can anybody mistake this for the original? It's far too clean-sounding haha. It's sick, but Meddle has that dusty pre-DSOTM sonic haze going on. This is great though. Loving the organ sound. And it's revelatory to hear how the song is mostly a series of 2 chords repeated before introducing another for the shift...
Is this the actual backing track by Pink Floyd? Sure sounds like it. Where do you get these? Do you "unmix" the vocals and guitar out of them yourself?
