this is literally a "phone bad" song. there is absolutely no value in such superfluous and platitudinous rhetoric. the belief that symptoms of disillusionment -- like chronic loneliness, widespread mental illness, and addiction propensities in young people -- are a result of the purportedly negative influence of common superfluities such as smartphones and social media and NOT necessarily occurring symptoms of capitalism reaching its late stage is abhorrently braindead and unepmirical. welcome to the bleak hellscape that is our current reality, this is nothing new. smartphones are fascinating and monumentally groundbreaking communicative inventions, and they should be appreciated and valued as such. mass, instant communication is not the progenitor of loneliness, dissatisfaction, disillusionment, and unrest in new generations, late stage neo-liberal capitalism is, or is at least predominantly responsible. you phone bad smoothbrains really knot my neurons, if i were as unobservant as you id just give up hope, and thats to say nothing of your profound inability to deductively reason. if you find yourself agreeing the themes espoused in this song, then you desperately need to sharpen your sociological knife my friend, because its dullness will get you nowhere.

@@nothingissacrosanct with respect. I think you yourself are being simplistic about a complex problem. Yes, some of our worst social problems are due to late stage neo-liberal capitalism. Sure, phones, computers and the internet have created marvellous possibilities unimaginable when I was a child. But when I was a child, kids played outside relatively freely, which contributed to things like creativity in play and physical fitness, even perhaps to a general feeling of carefreeness. Kids being bullied at school would at least find refuge at home, instead of being subject to 24/7 distress on social media. People tended to be focused on the moment, rather than worrying about missing recording it. People engaged with other people in real life, whether with their friends or in casual encounters with strangers. We weren't just glued to a phone screen. One's friends were real physical friends, not thousands of cyber-pseudo-friends. We didn't all have devices in our homes and pockets which could be spying on us. Misinformation and disinformation could not spread across the nation and the world almost in the blink of an eye. Need I say more?

It's worth noting and really cool to know that this music video is actually a bunch of short clips from the upcoming unreleased music videos from the new album put together so not only is it teasing the other songs in the album but it's every song in the album put together! I love how 80s influential this is and the message. Technology is good and bad the way society has made it become is why it is so bad. If we weren’t so reliant and so distracted by it we could get back to why it was invented in the first place to communicate but not to control us and consume us.

This song is just--wow. It's just so true for the/our generation. The part that hits me the most personally, is whenever Sydney sings: "I've disconnected now I'm by myself." Because, the way I see it, is we're online so often and we talk to people we might know in person, we might not. In reality though, once we disconnect ourselves from the online world, we realize that we might not/don't have any real people there for us.

This is really amazing! The little vignettes from the 12 musical videos are awesome. You must have had so much fun creating and shooting the videos (besides all the hard work)! What a great sneak preview!!!! And what a great album this will be!!!!
