Real-time view of solar eclipse and surrounding landscape, up to and through totality. 2017-08-21, near Weiser, Idaho, overlooking the Snake River. I was alone at my spot beside the road, until a little while before the eclipse started, when an ex-Navy welder joined me. You can hear our conversation as things move along. I had my video camera running, and was taking a series of stills with my SLR. The stills are shown in the lower corner, also real-time (you can hear the camera clicking for each still image). Unfortunately, the images of totality are overexposed, so there's not a lot of detail to be seen. Also, the video auto-exposure makes it seem as though it never got dark, though it really did. Totality starts around 5 minutes in. You can hear cheering and yelling when totality starts. This was from the people at the camp ground across the river in Oregon.
