Eco-anxiety is a fact of life for many people - especially young people.
It’s normal to be distressed when you hear bad news about the climate. That distress motivates people to take action.
But you can’t act if you feel overwhelmed. So how do you maintain a balanced outlook?
CBC Kids News contributor Isabelle MacNeil spoke to researchers in public health and in sustainability to unpack eco-anxiety and how to deal with it.
Here’s who she spoke to:
Dana Rose Garfin, assistant professor in residence, department of community health sciences, Fielding School of Public Health, University of California, Los Angeles.
Sarah Kennell, policy director, Canadian Mental Health Association.
Gail Whiteman, professor of sustainability, University of Exeter, UK.
