Hi hobo. I have a question. If you have extra lifepo4 batteries could you use the solar xt60 connectors to feed power into the unit thus lengthening run time? The voltage is within the parameters.

Why buy extra battery if you can buy another delta 2 max for almost similar price BUT charge them separately and you have double the ports available.

There is a difference between the Yellow 🟨 XT60 and Orange 🟧 XT60i plugs. The XT60 provides 8 Amps and the XT60I can do more than 8 Amps with EcoFlow. Test it out for us! I liked the phantom power loss test. Never seen it beforehand in a review.👍

@@HOBOTECH The Rivers have a DC Mode option to tell them if you want Solar or Car charging, but the Deltas do not. So you can use the XT60i to tell the Delta it is solar. Some people say the ecoflows can automatically determine if it is solar or car input, but I do not know how. To me this seems like a side effect of using one input port for two things.

XT60, no, it is XT60i. The former is yellow/2-pin and the latter orange/3-pin. You only get 8A on solar if you use the 2-pin, and you can only get (up to) 15A if you use 3-pin. Anyone buying cables from ecoflow for delta 2, delta 2 max (or these newer units with LFP tech), must get the 3-pin XT60i plug. Beware, if you order online, you could be sent the older cable with 2-pin/yellow XT60 plug when you actually need the 3-pin/orange XT60i plug. Great video otherwise and thanks for all the work you do!

Even if you don’t live in a hurricane region, ANYTIME you lose power, you need this. Refrigerator & freezers stay cold about 2 hrs IF you leave them closed. I lost power (~30,000 citizens in all) 2x last month. It was high 80’s first time, low 90{s the 2nd. If didn’t have one of these at the time. Has to throw out ice cream and other foods were thawing in freezer. No power..no air conditioning, my puppy was miserable & I wasn’t happy either. So no I own the Delta 2 Max, extra battery & 2 x 220 w bifacial solar panels. So now I power my freezer and internet all the time with this system. If no AC I have large fans to get us by til power comes back on. My refrigerator is about 20 feet away so I have a 12 gauge extension cord to run that as well. With 4,096 watts I can go quite awhile especially when I have 440 watts of solar charging during this time. Even if you don’t experience power outages, you can get “free power” and power many items in your house with the power of the sun. You don’t have to buy all I did at once. Start with the DM2 & 1 x 220W solar panel…add the extra battery & another panel down the road.

Thank you (again) for the in-depth review. My two takeaways are that using an EcoFlow product as the front end of a solar solution can’t be beat. The software and outputs are top notch. But, it seems it would be better and cheaper to use server rack batteries combined with a decent MPPT controller as a back end solution if you were hoping or planning to continue to expand you capacity over the years?

Great review Hobo. No additional ports on the Extra Batteries is my biggest negative for EcoFlow. That and their price. I do own the Delta Pro with extra battery, smart Generator (dual fuel), Glacier, River 2 Max and several of their solar panels. When I head out I am usually powering 2 amateur radios, laptop and 12 volt fans and light sources. The EcoFlow app does a fantastic job of monitoring all the power available/usage. A control room in your phone. Some adventures are in the sunshine others are in the rain or snow. I don't have to change plans because of the weather. 73, W1RKB

Great review as usual. Thinking of getting one of these to power a small travel trailer. However, I’m confused as to how I can get DC power from EcoFlow to a Blue Sea DC distribution fuse box. From reading specs there are only 2 DC 5521 outs and they appear to be capped at 3A/38w 😕. The only other one is the 12v cigarette port which does seem to allow 10A/126w but I was going to use that one for my 12v fridge. I just want to run some LED lights, MaxxAir fans, fridge, etc…

Sorry if I missed it but was the parasitic DC test with the 12V and USB circuitry on, or just the 12V? I was also wondering if you were more or less over testing solar panels? I know the panel tech itself is pretty much a commodity, but the accessories and means of setting up and using the panels is not. Based on this review I got a Delta 2 MAX with the 220w bi-facial panel as a prime day deal. After having experience with the shockingly easy to use Jackery 100w panel, I found that the Ecoflow 220w is shockingly unwieldy. It would have been nice to know ahead of time, and I'm not sure if I would have bought it if I knew the following: 1. The "stand" for the panel is just the case...which you have to place face down in the dirt/mud to use. 2. There are no real "handles" on the panel...which contains glass and is heavy, which is a serious dropping hazard. It's literally just one big sheer surface. 3. The cable that comes with the panel is only about 6' long, so to charge the $2000 Delta 2 MAX, I have to haul it outside and leave it there, out in the open, for hours to charge. 4. As you noticed with the power station, you need an XT60i cable to effectively charge from the panel. So to get an extension cable, you either have to find an MC4 to XT60i cable of decent AWG and length (which I have been unable to do) or you need to buy a PAIR of MC4 cables and run BOTH across your camp site to the Ecoflow MC4 to XT60i cable, and then to the power station... 5. Setting up the panel as one person is a b****, as the panel will not fold open and stay that way. It's covered in like a rubberized plastic coating, which remembers that it was folded, and keeps trying to fold back up, while you're using your two hands to try to unfold the four panels.

I appreciate the insight on its ideals vs reality! Got this to prepare for potential drastic weather in Canada in the years to come along with the Wave 2. I'm excited to back it up with a more DIY approach since I like the idea of a system where I'm able to swap about batteries, inverters and wires, never mind racking up extra battery capacity in case of weeks where the sun isn't shining through much.

Problem with external bricks are no UPS features and much slower charge rates. Modern units use bidirectional inverters that double as high speed chargers. If it breaks you have a 5yr warranty.

The 8A limit on the solar seems a lot like what the Delta Pro will do if you use the car charging cable. Does the Delta 2 Max use the cables with the XT60i connector that has the middle tab to tell it not to restrict current? Delta Pro will max at 15 A if you use the XT60i solar cable.

One thing I’ve never liked about EcoFlow is the shape of their power stations. They’ve put the info screen on the long end, so it would stick out too far from a house wall (or a tent wall if outdoors). I do really like the Wave 2 product though. I purchased 2 of the BLUETTI AC180 products. I consider the AC180 the “Goldilocks” of the power stations for having decent power without the Olympian weight. My only complaints about the AC180: loud fan even on silent mode, and failing Professor Hobo’s music amp test (prominent buzzing interference noise). Thanks for another great review Professor! Will the next video feature Cowboys from H*ll? 😉

LiFePO4 or LFP is in fact, one of many lithium ion chemistries. When the Chinese put "lithium ion" on the box, they are covering all the bases. You can be guaranteed that ALL Delta 2 products are in fact LFP. The original Delta series is NMC or NCM which is another lithium ion chemistry.

Is there and 12volt power supply you can put in line with this SG and get a clean signal? The Ecoflow just doesn't have enough power through 12v cigarette plug to power a radio that needs over 20 amps to transmit.

So if you can't exceed 8 amps per PV input you would need approximately 62.5 volts to achieve 500 watts. To get 62.5 volts VOC you would need to series two 32 volt VOC panels. This doubles the number of panels I had planned to use. Printed on the PV inputs area of the Delta 2 Max it clearly says 11-60V d.c. 15A MAX PER PORT. (Thank you for showing it will take 66 volts) I'm confused why the unit was unable to accept over 8 amps per port. Were the EcoFlow XT60i connectors used for the inputs? I've seen numerous posts stating a standard XT60 connector limits the EcoFlow to 8 amps and in order to achieve the 15 amps you have to use the XT60i. Inquiring minds want to know.

I was not given any solar adapters with the product so I used my own. Didn't know I needed XT60i at the time. I have since bought one.

@@HOBOTECH Thanks for the reply. This past Sunday I received 2 EcoFlow Delta 2 Max that I ordered from Costco. Each unit came with two 160 watt EcoFlow portable solar panels. The MC4 to XT60i cable is in the box with each solar panel. Since EcoFlow uses the XT60i connector it would have made sense to also include that cable with the Delta 2 Max. On a side note, since receiving the units it's been mostly cloudy down here in Mesa, AZ. Isn't that just how it works.

Something nobody ever checks is will this Solar+AC While under a load? i have an older Delta max 1600 and when using it, like under a load say with a TV, it will ONLY charge from either ac OR solar, not both. when it is off under no load it will charge the unit from both, but it wont power electronics down the line from solar+AC.

I have a question about the ac pass-through mode. I have the standard delta 2 that has a maximum charge rate of 1200 W when plugged in to AC power. let’s say I had a demand on the AC output of 1800 W, would it supply that 1800 W directly through the plug (bypassing the battery), or would it supply only 1200 W and pull the other 600 from the Battery to supply 1800 watts?

I always laugh every time you show the DC cigarette style adapters. You seem to always "finger" them good. Who knows? Keep that up long enough, you'll be fisting those adapters before you know it. Nice! LOL!

Regarding the XT60i and solar charging...if you wire the negative side to the center pin, it will go over 8 amps. Sorry if that was already mentioned in the comments.

Dear ECOFLOW - Just ‘BE ALL THAT YOU CAN BE” - Make and Charge for the all encompassing UNITS! - Every single option every single reviewers have asked for, including the separate battery usage and stand alone charging - and CHARGE $$$ for the system - it is ridiculous at this point that they have not done so.. I have to buy so many gadgets to get what should be a turn key operation. “JUST DO IT!” Let’s Go !!!

If the delta 2 max is connected to the grid and is being charged, at the same time it is discharging 800-1000w at the output, when we remove it from the grid does the EPS work? Does it continue to discharge without problem 800 - 1000w?

Great video. Do you know how I can plug a Delta 2 MAX into a Reliance 30-Amp Power Inlet Box or Reliance transfer switch? I contacted Eco flow directly and was told they would have to get back to me. They didn't even know what cable I need to use and they don't sell it on there website. Please advise thank you.

Perfect presentation. But I found that the station shows data of input and output power, which can differ from real data by 120 up to 210 W. Did you make any power measurements ? Thank you for your reply. Peter

Great review. I want to use this unit for critical load backup in my house. My question, is it possible to add an EG4 battery to recharge the Delta 2 Max. I was looking at this battery which has a 5120wh capacity versus the extra battery which only gives me an additional 1000wh for the same price.

Some info on the XT60i connectors and how the extra pin is being used to limit or allow more than 8A: Over 8A has the center "i" pin connected to the NEGATIVE lead of the XT60i connector (the side that is not square) The cables meant for car cigarette lighter charging have the center "i" pin of the XT60i connector going to the POSITIVE lead. (square side) This limits it to 8A. If you build your own cable and do not connect the center "i" pin to either positive or negative, it will default to the 8A limit. Same with normal XT60. I have tested the included "car " cable and some 3rd party solar cables to verify this as well as made my own cable. Hope this helps.

I have a 1 HP sump pump (specs: 750watts 120v 60hz 9.6amp) and was curious if this would power this during an outage.

Btw the pass through is not really reliable. On my 85inch TV it only works about 30% of the time. We had several power outages
