EcoFlow Delta pro product review, watch this before buying

So far I've been happy and didn't have the issues you describe with the app (both on IOS + Android) but respect the fact that you did --- very unfortunate. Same with the percentage issues. I have 2 sets of delta pros and 2 sets of delta maxes and thankfully I haven’t had any of the issues you’re having. I’ve had the maxes for 2 years and the pros for a year and a half now and they’re still going strong.

I have 2 delta pros as well along with a smart battery. I have had several problems with mine too. I sent back one of mine for replacement because of overload error code 121 which left me dead in the water. Ecoflow sent me a new one in November 2023 which works fine for maybe a week and started the same issue all over again. Now im getting error code 022. The unit won't turn on unless it is hooked up to my solar. As soon as I unplug my solar it turns off. I have spent more time messing with them than using them. I just sent tech support an email about the issue. I would be more than happy to send them back for a credit and start over with another product! Good luck to all.

Great video! Backup power is essential, especially when camping or spending quality time with family outdoors. Have you considered the Segway Portable PowerStation Cube Series? I've paid for the same setup which had a similar problem, one of my EFD2's would go from 30% charge to 0% instantly. I had to send it back for repairs, it only took a week or two and now she's running properly.

I have a Delta Mini, a River 2, and a River 2 Pro. I've not only never had any problems linking them to the app, but they automatically synced themselves when I turned them on. I did have an issue with my Mini dropping down around 70% before charging. All I did was update the firmware. No problem since.

Sorry to hear all the problems. I've had my tow pro's now for about a month and I've had none of the issues you speak of. I only use solar panels to charge the system. I installed a Micro-Air Easy start on my ac, which allows you to run the house ac by reducing the onrush current from 77 to 23 amps. I've run everything in my house, even the dryer that pulled 6kw. I just received my two new smart batteries to add to the system. I don't normally use a cell phone and I was able to connect fairly easy to the app. I haven't seen any other videos of people having these issues, but many of the features you're trying to use, I haven't.

Sorry to hear about all the trouble you guys are having hopefully you get all these issues resolved. Im thinking you could have built a really good diy system a much better system for the cost of all those ecoflows . But i understand you wanted simple plug and play. If i were you i would get that one ecoflow that was smoking out of your house asap i wouldn't trust it and id want a replacement no way i would keep a system that's been smoking obviously its overheating

I think your issues are related directly to two essential factors. 1. Internal hardware failure in at least one of your two DP's (One of your units began to emit smoke you wrote.) 2. Lack of proper firmware updates and operational setup. I have noticed many other folks have had issues with their Delta Pros early on after initial release of these units to market, but many of the bugs have been progressively worked out with firmware updates. You should always check to see that your solar gennys have the very latest firmware updates installed before trying to set them up and use them. One of EcoFlow's major failures has been with direct customer support and manufacturing products which could not be reset properly by the end user if they accidentally overloaded an input and blew internal fuses. Units have to be constantly shipped back and forth for servicing by EcoFlow, which probably costs them a great deal of money in shipping, and a great deal of inconvenience to the customer in wasted time and aggravation. I honestly am thinking you may have got at least one defective DP straight out of the box (??). I found my EcoFlow River 600 MAX to work great, but at the same time I have to say these products very unforgiving if you accidentally do something wrong. I had a firmware update suddenly begin because my cell phone happened to be close to my River 600 and started a firmware update just at the point I was plugging in my Solar connection at the same time ! This situation resulted in a totally screwed up unit and a long shipping nightmare to get my River 600 MAX back and fourth for repairs ! I got a refurbished unit back from EcoFlow, but then I screwed mine up once again because I accidentally connected a 12 Volt DC tire inflator pump to the car interface on my EcoFlow River and the electric pump actually drew more amperage than what my EcoFlow could supply and it blew a fuse. However that fuse is internal, there's no external breaker on the unit I can press to reset the circuit, and all fuses on EcoFlow products thus far seem to be internal (??). There's no way for the end user to reset this kind of failure. May I suggest EcoFlow needs to make all of their fused circuits either externally refuseable by the user, or use external relays to be able automatically reset key circuits if they overload ? I'm sorry to learn of your difficulties. These are very expensive solar generators and external battery technologies.

I really want to adopt an all-in-one system, but it's issues like this that keep me away. I've never had any problems with my DIY setup. If i do, i just replace one of the components. The Honda EU2000 on natural gas is the backup. Thanks for being transparent with the issues

EF is having issues with the firmware and reflecting the “real” state of charge. I have the same setup as you plus 2 smart gens and the smart home panel. While I was testing mine I noticed the imbalance between the units. Here’s what I did. Disconnect unit from ac and dc input. Turn unit off. Do a battery BMS reset by pressing and holding the power button for 20 seconds. Turn units off and let them sit over night. Next turn unit on and add loads and completely kill all batteries. Once dead plug in the ac and let the units completely charge. I like to charge at 300w which silent. Fans don’t come on until you go to 400w or higher. Once I did that all units were showing 100%. I expect this will need to be done when ever the state of charge gets out of wack or until they can fix the firmware.

I’ve seen and heard a lot of the same issues with the Ecoflow brand. I own 2 River Pro’s with the extra batteries. I wanted to test the waters before going all in. I haven’t had many issues but I don’t use them much. I decided to go with different brands when I purchased larger units. Shame really, they make very innovative products.

Once it started to smoke, it needed to be removed from your system and sent back for a replacement. Anytime any electronic equipment emits smoke, damage has occurred in the device. Even if it still seems to function, it's still damaged to some extent and requires repair or replacement.

I'm having the same problem. Mine quit logging 10 days at 100% Charge. They all started showing 9 days @ 100% charge after performing the fully drain and fully charge procedure per EchoFlow's suggestion to calibrate the batteries and syncing them. Echo-flow is beginning to show their true colors I believe.

I was excited to get my Delta Pro last week. I charged it and put a 22 watt load on it overnight. It failed with codes 001, 077, and the battery failure icon, and won't boot up. I've shipped it back for a refund. It took customer service 3 & 1/2 days to respond to the issue. I think I'm, going pay more for Victron and get the reliability. Maybe I just had bad luck with Eco Flow? But I need better assurance that when the grid fails, the system will work!

This is a tough one to listen to. So sorry you are experiencing so many issues right out of the gate. I have two Delta 2 units, and one Delta 2 Smart Extra battery. All work like champs out of the box, as does the app. In fact, I've owned one of the Delta 2 units for a year now, and just recently added the second Delta 2 and Smart Extra battery this past month. When I fired up the new Delta 2 with the Smart Extra battery, they connected to my app pretty much on their own. Have you tried running the app from a different phone or tablet? Just thinking maybe there is an issue with whatever device you have it currently installed on. Then once you have it working on a different device, see if there is any softwary updates for your units waiting to be installed. Hoping the best for your system and getting it functioning correctly. 😊

On my delta2 I can keep it plugged in charging while I have the AC plugged into other things and having those run off the unit. I’ll test on the delta pro today to see if mine doesn’t work while plugged into the wall

I ended up buying mine at Costco just cause I didn’t want to deal with shipping them back I just wanted to roll them into a store and go here take them back if I had issues. It does sound like a big issue there’s no external fuses

I was thinking about ecoflow but i wanted to be able to fix my own unit. So i decide to go the do it yourseld route and maybe get 1 delta pro later for moving power around.

When using the hub to get 240 volts these units aren't even designed to charge from AC just DC. And all front panel 120 volt recepticals are disabled leaving just the two on the hub available. Plus the 240 volt, 7200W receptical.

I belive you said you wanted to charge with 240v plugged in to the unit, that will disable the output.. Just a whole lot of stuff happening here that is cause for concern.. How are you tied in to provide power to appliances? I suggest unplugging the ac power going in to them and trying to use them to eliminate some potential issues...

You made a brief comment saying, maybe there's a firmware update I don't know. Do you think maybe you should have started with that?!

Are you sure you don't just have a shunt issue? A shunt is just a meter on the negative side of the battery that measures watthours in and watthours out. I've found (on many different solar/generator stations) that the shunts on these units sucks. The shunt "controls" nothing...energy only passes through...in and out. The battery bank BMS is the controller. So, if your shunt shows "77%" but your battery is still charging, your shunt is just not reading properly (that's why manufacturers tell people to run the unit down to zero and fully charge..."reset" the shunt...this usually doesn't fix the issue). It wouldn't [necessarily] mean your batts are not charging up to full snuff. A crappy shunt is a bit of a pain in understanding where you are on charge but does not indicate your batts aren't charging to full capacity.

Well, the good reviews, mostly if not all, are some form paid advertisement. Mine works so far as their book said but they have couple "miner" issues, It's currently plugged into an electrical outlet and give power to some appliances, I would like to program it so it charges at off-peak hours (from 9PM to 4PM next day) and does not charge during on-peak hours (from 4PM to 9PM). Is there a way to do this other than manually unplugging the Ecoflow Delta Pro? I tried to use Automation on the app and did not see a way to do this. The reason is power consume at off peak hours gets bill at $0.146/kwh and at on-peak hours gets bill at $0.263/kwh. I would save almost $0.12 for each kwh, but the hassle of plug and unplug it manually. Decades ago we can program our VCR to record TV programs and watch those recorded later. The Ecoflow Delta Pro does not have that feature and technical/customer service don't have answer for that, may be software update later. Bummer.

Mine bricked itself last night. 7 months old. No 120 output. Stuck on 50 HZ error 105 and error 119.

This is disappointed to watch. Sucks you have had so many issues. I just ordered a single DP and EB along with the smart generator and some solar panels during the Christmas sale. I was thinking about building it out more with another DP and all that to hook it up to the house to deal with outages (currently going through a big one up in Maine), but maybe that's not such a good idea after all. I have other uses for the single unit in mind so it won't go to waste. Maybe I will pick up the Delta Pro Ultra that's coming out in another few weeks and the smart home panel 2, and try tying that into the main house for backup power.

AC Input is not compatible with double voltage hub. I don't know why EcoFlow doesn't make that obvious in their info.

If you were told you can AC recharge and draw power at the same time, that is incorrect. You can only charge from a DC source and draw AC power at the same time.

You were told wrong by tech support. When using the hub you can only charge from DC.

Ok Stupid thoughts: When the unit was smoking, that is probably a short of some type. Clearly not wired correctly on that unit, and the app having issue is another potential assembly problem. To top it off, only being able to charge to 80% suggests that 20% of the battery is now offline(see previous smoking issue). So from this keyboard warrior position, you have one defective unit and they need to replace/repair it. Issue 2: can you charge from the grid while using the double hub system? No, their literature says that it can not be done(telephone help is wrong on this point). You can charge with the DC voltage port(Extra battery, solar panel input, or Ecoflow smart generator), but not from the 120v power source. I think that it comes from the concept that if you have 120 voltage to charge the battery, then you would never need a 120 V output, kind of seems reasonable except if you are powering a 240V house. Now if you had the smart panel, you could still add power by the DC ports, but as soon as the main power comes back on, the batteries would charge from the main power supply, but not supply the house from the batteries because main house power would be on. From an engineering standpoint it should be obvious, but practically, it kind of isn't. Others may have differing opinions, please add them below. I want to use the double hub and create 240V power for my house during an emergency, and charge the batteries at the same time with my 120V inverter generator(3600W), but from their website, it is not possible. So, I would be kind of stuck too. If we could supply DC power, then we would be in a better place with this system place

Your written description says customer service is great but your video says everything sucks. So which is it? Based on your video, I wouldn’t buy that system and they couldn’t even give one to me for free. Nothing great about it.

I am sorry to hear this as you have most definitely been MISINFORMED by whoever you spoke with at EcoFlow. A Delta Pro ( DP) CANNOT be charged via AC power while it is connected to a Double Voltage Hub (DVH) For 2 DP's to have their batteries charged WHILE 2 DPs are connected to a DVH which is supplying 240 volts of output, the only way other than using TWO EcoFlow Smart Generators charging DPs with DC power via XT150 cable or using solar panels is to use 2 Switched Mode Power Supplies (SMPS) connected to the DPs solar input port. Keep in mind there are power losses with using SMPS as each of mine require 1,875 watts of AC to output 1,600 watts of DC into the DP but the benefit is that my DP's can output their full capacity of 3,600 watts rather than the reduced 1,800 watts which is limited by the "pass through" mode that occurs when a DP is connected to an AC source. If your DP + 2 EBs are NOT connected to the DVH, when attempting to charge your DP, the DP goes into "pass through mode". This means all the loads from are being powered by the whatever you are trying to use to charge your DP. (the Grid or Gas generator?) In "pass through mode", your DP's output capacity is decreased from 3,600 watts to 1,800 watt MAXIMUM to power the loads PLUS charge the DP. So if your loads are 500 watts, and you have the AC charge speed set to 1,800 watts in the EF App, the DP will trip as you are trying to draw 2,300 watts which exceeds the DP's pass through limit of 1,800 watts. If the loads are 500 watts as an example, the max you can set the AC charge speed in the EF App is 1,300 watts. (500. watts + 1,300 watts = 1,800 watts) but I would NOT recommend setting it this close to the limit. I have returned 3 Delta Pro's, one Extra Battery, one Wave 2 and two Smart Generators. One of my Delta Pro’s, EF actually sent it to back China to examine it more closely. With 5 of the 7 returns, I actually received the replacement product BEFORE I even sent back ANY of the defective products but EF as since changed their policy because some people did NOT send their units back after EF sent them the the replacement products. Sometimes by merely posting a question about an issue, one of the EF members, moderators or Admins on the EcoFlow DELTA Series Official Group FB Page will initiate action by tagging one of the admins. Each and every time I have sent a DM to one of the EF admins, they have PROMPTLY addressed and RESOLVED my issues without fail. Notwithstanding the above, EF customer support via email has been MUCH weaker than the support I received from the Admins on the EcoFlow DELTA Series Official Group FB page via DM. In my case, I quickly realized going the email route was much more time consuming and less effective. So yes, EF still has some work (training?) to do with their customer support personnel as we have seen some advice provided by email by EF support which is not congruent with what members have experienced or resolved. Not to make excuses for EF but EF users have increased substantially in the last 22 months so there is bound to be some growing pains. If I may make one other suggestion: Please chime in to EcoFlow DELTA Series Official Group FB page with ANY issues you are having as the members in this group have been super knowledgeable and helpful for me personally with resolving issues about EF products as well as other ancillary products we use with our EF products. When using the double hub to get 240 volts from your 2 Delta Pros, all front panel recepticals are disabled and you can only charge from DC with the hub connected. Regardless of what configuration you want to use your 2 Delta Pros, they can't be charged from 240 volt AC when the hub is connected. When using the hub, you're configured the 2 Delta Pros as 240 volts split phase. One Delta Pro is outputting one 120 volt phase at 3600 watts, and the other is outputting the other 120 volt phase 180 degrees out of phase to create your 240 volts. Here's a video showing that it's not even possible to charge with any AC when using the hub. Never buy any solar generator from any manufacturer until you've confirmed that the solar generator uses a low frequency, transformer based inverter in its design. None of the Ecoflow units use high performance, low frequency, transformer based inverter technology. Instead, they use lightweight, transformerless inverter tech. High frequency inverters run much, much hotter which can lead to early failure, especially when powering high inductance loads. They also offer a much lower and shorter surge capacity to start your high inductance loads. Another major consideration is that without an iron core, copper wound transformer to isolate the DC input from the AC output, a high frequency, transformerless inverter can send dangerous, high voltage, high amperage DC current straight through to your AC loads which can not only damage those appliances but can also set those appliances on fire.

I have read all these post from the past 2 months to 6 months post. EcoFlow Delta Pro is actually a very good product that has a lot of potential. The product is not perfect. I think the product is in the perfecting mode and needs some tweaking. They do need the ability to troubleshoot the product over the Internet which would save money and time for many of us. The automation needs to be improved by opening up a dialog with the customer base and getting their thoughts. There are solutions and it is going to be by better communications with the customer. I have 2 - DPSGen, 3 - DPEB's, 1 - DP - DFGen, 1 - SPan. 8 - 400w DC - EF panels. My total Ga Power Bill was $43.11 last month. I am total electric. Heat Pump, 2650 sqft facing a South in GA. (BUT - It's going to take more management than just installing it and let it run on its on to get that kind of results.)
