I have the Ryobi 40v power station and ECOFLOW Delta. Having a lot of ryobi batteries made it an easy choice for me. The ryobi is my home backup, while the delta backs the ryobi. The delta keep the ryobi batteries recharged using solar panels.
I'm less than 5 minutes into the video, and already I have decided that the Ego is way too expensive and way too limited. If I spend less money I can get the Ecoflow delta max which is more equal in watts to the Ego. The lack of a DC output, usb c ports or high speed usb ports is a deal breaker for me. Thanks for the video. 👌
Amazing what you provided, very well done and so thorough. I bought the Ego yesterday but will not keep it. I will go with the ecoflow! I just need this to run two fridge when I have power outage. More and more frequent now our days. Need the pass trough, solar and quick time to recharge. The EGO is a product not ready for market. Again bravo for this video!!!
Great review. I've been checking these two and a couple of other brands and I think it's down to either of these. And I am leaning to towards the Eco Flow for the reasons you mentioned. But if I ordered now, it would be at least a week to get one. The Ego ones are carried by Lowe's and Ace Hardware, some of the Ace stores near me say they have it in stock. The Eco Flow with a pair of 160w solar panels would run about $2,000 from Amazon. The EGO with two extra batteries would be about $1700, plus the solar panels and that charger you need for it, would easily put it over $2K.
As a portable power source I don't think you could go wrong with either. I have the Ego and love it! IMO the Eco Flow is one of the few power stations that can truly compete with the Ego. I think the solar charging for the Ego is a joke and not at all worth it so if you do plan to utilize that feature then the Eco flow is a clear winner. My concerns with the Eco Flow is that it is a closed system so what it comes with for battery capacity is all you will ever get and when the batteries need replacing the entire unit would need to be replaced. For the Ego you can easily buy additional batteries either for extra power or as they need replacing. If you are at all considering buying into the Ego line of lawn equipment I highly recommend you get the Ego. I have several Ego products and absolutely love them all. The 2 stage snow blower last year was fantastic. With all of the Ego batteries I now have it makes the power station that much more useful. I think you will be very happy which ever way you go.
Should have left the refrigerator doors open to get the compressor running. Doubt that 100 watts is its startup or surge wattage probably more in the 400 watt or higher range. Good review of the two units. I have very efficient 12v small refrigerators and your talking 60 watts while the compressor is running with the surge being in the 300 watt range.
Great analysis. I like to Ego but the time it takes to fully charge is bad. Plus no pass through which is a bummer. I'm going with Delta on this one. I actually ordered the Delta Pro as well.
For all us Nexus Power Station owners, I’d love to extend the life of the battery to a LiFePO4 battery, ideally a 5KWhr 48v Server Rack. If you take your EGO Link backpack adapter (BH1001), and remove the connection cable from the backpack (or simply buy a replacement cable ARC1500), can you connect the backpack adapter to the Nexus slot, and the other end of the cable directly to the + & - leads of the LiFePO4 battery. Thanks much, love the content.
Good video. A few things to consider when doing these test. There are basically three types of loads. Resistive, inductive, and capacitive. Resistive are loads that deal with electric heat generation, think toaster, heat gun, electric heater. Inductive are usually loads using electric motors. Fans, washing machine, air compressor. Capacitive loads, are normally, computerized loads. TVs, video games, and computers. In my opinion you should run your test based on these three categories. So running three separate test using a toaster, heat gun, and space heater. Is redundant. A toaster, big screen TV, and air compressor or washing machine would be better. And just those three test would cover what needs to be measured. Just food for thought. Good video.
The ego is better because you can use the external batteries for a variety of tools and is otherwise about 95% comparable. The Delta was very specifically built for one job and one job only.
Good review, thanks. The thing about the EGO is that it's always new, just plug in new batteries. Since I have tons of other EGO lawn products I guess it's a given for me. The EcoFlow is a nice machine but, again, EGO batteries are very highly rated and you get a 5 yr. warranty.
Thanks for the great review, I have a collection of EGO yard tools and EGO 3000W Power station. I am researching and shopping for EGO Nexus Solar Panel Charger CH1800 for outdoor activities. The only wish I have is EGO PowerStation has charging and using in parallel feature.
Thank you very much David, so I did a 3 part series on the charge controller, here is part 1 links are in the description for 2 and 3,happy holidays ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-PJSGA5ydHDY.html
I have the ECOFLOW Delta Max (2000) in my van life van lol Ran it for 2 years. It straight up died on me right at the 2 year warranty mark. I called customer service and with in 2 weeks it was replaced with a new one. Great service but the life span is scary
Based on the differences of wattage draw between the same items, it seems the Delta has a more efficient inverter. The inverters use power as well, to convert from DC to AC. Plus the Ego is broadcasting Bluetooth, more used power from the unit.
That Ego Nexus would make a good boat anchor, expensive and cumbersome, and the Eco Flow is a good choice but not the best out there, the Eco Flow needs the on/off switch on the front, watching you fiddle with it every time was tough lol, very in depth review though thanks
Thanks Youngblood, I hope EGO comes out with a new model for sure, the ecoflow has a power button in the front but if you press it lightly it will turn the display off. The newer models also have an app so you can control the display and more.
@@TechMadeEzy Agreed trying to keep up with the competition by adding on features that add complexity, parts, and pieces gets old, I am new to your channel and I appreciate your interaction with supporters
Thank you I definitely try to stay in touch with everyone I'm not sure how long I can do it but for now I really enjoy it have a great night and thank you for staying with us
For my situation, it looks like the EGO works. As we know it is t cheap to buy EGO batteries, it’s cheaper to buy tools with batteries. I have a 3000 watt inverter in a work vehicle. I could leave for work and leave some of the batteries in the Nexus and charge the others in the van while I drive. Come home and swap batteries. Also use them for tools.
It’s great to have the batteries and all the products that’s where the power station becomes really valuable as well if you ever need it one day thank you for watching Crawford
I have the EGO z6 mower so I already have four 10Ah batteries along with two 7.5Ah to complement the six slot holder. For me, it should be a no Brainer to go with the Ego...but I just seem to gravitate toward the Eco. I guess I'm holding out for a EGO 2.0 version. The pass thru feature is a big deal to me.
I have an EcoFow Delta 1300 it stays on the kitchen counter. I have an off grid diy 4500watt output with 3800watt hours of batteries and 2000watts of solar panels system. I also have a Chevy Volt that has a 1500watt 120v ac inverter. I have an Ego z6 riding mower with 4 10amphour batteries and a Ego walk behind mower and an Ego blower. I have all the Ego batteries so for me it makes sense to get the Ego power station without the batteries for $549. Both the z6 and walk behind mower come with quick chargers that work fine with either the solar system or the Chevy Volt. I can use the Ego power station in my outbuilding shop.
Not likely to see the pass through charging soon as the EGO charges one battery at a time but draws from all four batteries simultaneously. I don't know of any configuration of diodes that would give you the benefits of both simultaneously.
get a rapid charger while your using the EGO your charging two battieries. when full you remove two and add the full charged batteries so on. pass through done.
10:25 Man I have all the other tools and definitely getting the EGO. Seems like such a smart but since all the batteries can be used from the other tools.
Hi Darrell, first let me say thank you for watching It all depends I would have to say if you have a bunch of ego batteries then this is a good Power Station if you don’t then it’s really up in the air they’re both good PowerStations but the EcoFlow has a couple of cool features that the ego does not have. Let me know if you have any questions I’d be glad to help
@@TechMadeEzy i just dont understand watts and amps. some machines say 1000 watts then it says in the specs that its 2000 peak and 250 amps? so im just confused
The Delta will be a better choice since it's relatively cheaper than the EGO wherein you have to buy a lot more stuff aside from the power station itself.
One thing to be aware of with the EGO Nexus Power Station is that the Android app only works properly with Android 8.1 - 10 right now. With Android 11, bluetooth will work, but wifi doesn't. With Android 12, neither bluetooth or wifi will work. I have reported this to Ego after trying to get them to fix this for 3 months. I finally found an old Galaxy Tab S3 (Android 9) and was able to get it to connect to both bluetooth and wifi.
Awesome video, I was wondering about how those two would compare with each other. Now I do want to point out that both of your rare batteries are blinking red when the power station is on. Are those batteries okay?
James thanks so much for watching Yes that is actually normal they are just flashing through red yellow green because they’re being used on the power station. They would act the same when you were charging them on the charger. Now when you’re using them on a tool like a mower they won’t do that.
@@TechMadeEzy Ah I see. The Z6 actually fast charge the batteries (4 10Ah in 2 hours) so I never really used the power station to charge the batteries. Good to know so I won’t be worried when it does that to me.
FOR POWER OUTAGE. Buy a nice generator. 6500 watt. 3 5 gallon gas cans and fill them with 93 octane gasoline. Save 300 bucks and have real power. For sustaining your tv and fridge if you already have heat these are fine. these power stations won't even run a microwave which during a power outage any kind of electric heat should be your last resource. Power stations are great for camping.for an outage they are great for TV, plug your fridge in a couple of hours now and then so your food don't spoil and keep your electronic devices cool. Cell phones are important because if you have a data plan and wifi in your home your good to go and don't lose your entertainment value due to down lines. I have gas heat but obviously the furnace won't work with no power for the blower and igniter. If you want your gas furnace to work you have to make sure you have your electric supply plugged into an outlet instead of directly to your breaker box like most are. it take on;ly 110 volt 20 amp circuit to run your gas furnace but it won't work with no power to your breaker box. If you have it wired to a 110 plug you can run your blower from a generator. that blower will not run long from one of these power banks. Best to have a secondary heater in your hoke like 22,000 BTU vent free wall heater. that will heat 3 homes even the blower does not work and that blower is simply fan that you could run from a power bank for hours easily.
Love my ego nexus. A little disappointed in ego though. I have a 7.5 ah battery that is under warranty. Been waiting 6 weeks and still they claim its back ordered.🤷♂️
@@TechMadeEzy The Nexus really looks awesome but at the end of the day versatility and portability are at the top of my list. The Delta is still the better of the two.
I see that ego 7.5 mah batteries are $350. What's the cheapest tool they sell that comes with a 7.5 battery? I'm trying to see if it pays to buy a battery or a combo of something.
@@TechMadeEzy Never seen that before. I have 2 5ah and 6 12ah ego batteries and use the power station, none of them do that, and the manual says flashing red means call support/defective. But if its some old version quirk, ok!
I need something like this for my sump pump to serve as backup to the backup battery once it's depleted. Start up wattage on pumps are high and wish I knew if either of these can handle the load?
@@TechMadeEzy start up is 745 watts and running 410. So then the EGO should easily run the pump. In a worse case scenario the pump kicks on and off every 30 seconds if we have had days of rain.
@@TechMadeEzy One of the nicest side by side comparison I have ever watched. Size is the most pressing issue for me since I will be using it mostly in my RV. So the Delta gets my vote.
Karl thank you so very much I really appreciate that I just started doing Power Station reviews and it's addicting. I totally understand what you're saying concerning size I also like the capabilities I'm hoping ego comes out with some new models one day
Honestly never heard of this brand. Looks promising though but it lacks the versatility of a Delta, although the option to hot swap the the batteries, albeit slow charging, are a plus.
I tried to connect my commercial backpack to my power station it will not work 28ah plus 3x 7.5ah would be nice run time Do you know if there's any hack to fix this
If you get the ecoflow home panel the Delta pro and the EGo, can you tun your house if you connect them all together. I love the ecoflow system but I have a stack of EGo and milwaukee batteries
@@TechMadeEzy I want to use the system to offset my energy costs. My electricity costs during day is 19 cents and 8 at night. I want to chg everything at night and utilize during the day
I have to do the math on it though because I just realized the system will only last a few years like that. It might save me 3-5 bucks a day. So it might only just pay for itself unless electricity prices go up dramatically which there is a good possibility
ego is not a solar charger at base unit... 1.. you must include batteries and 2 you must have the adapter.... and prices for both in doing comparisons.
Buying the batteries on their own is not cost effective......I just got the Nexus with two 7.5 batteries for 1299 CANADIAN dollars. Already had two 5.0 and two 2.5 batteries from other tools. I always buy a tool bundle because you literally get the battery at a discount and a tool. Next purchase will hopefully be the two stage snow blower.....haven't decided if I will go with the two 10 AH battery kit or just the blower because I don't know if I want 8 batteries. Would be nice though
The EGO only really makes sense to get if you use a lot of their tools imo. That also lowers the price of the batteries and gives them another use. Solar charging on the EGO sadly is basically a joke. If you plan on using solar charging there are better options than either of these imo.
@@Texasprepper Well that goes along with what I said. You have the mower at least and it makes sense as I said if you have the other tools. I have the EGO Nexxus as well and am very happy with it even with its shortcomings.
No pass charge. Separate things to buy for standard things on comparables have to use an app to know what should be on board especially at the 2k price range they really messed up "ego" in my opinion😎
@@TechMadeEzy I am well. Hope you are too. Yeah the pro with the battery for 699 is the best $$ per watt hour there is out there right now. Keep up the good work I watch all your videos!
@@chrisanderson8553 it was a steal for $429 so I grabbed it. Didn't get the extra battery bundle but that's a good deal also. You got me interested in power stations so thank you, the tech is amazing and I like being ready if something goes down.
I have the ego. Runs everything I need in my home. Will even run my rv ac. I just hot swap the batteries and use my rv solar system and stand alone ego charger. It generates very clean electricity. Great video my friend!!

Depends on application....i am showing movies using a projector, inflatable screen, blueray player and speaker system in my back 2 acres all night long. Only power is the nexus......(2x) 10 amp batteries will run 2.5 hours......i can charge (2x) 10 amp batteries in 1 hour on my mower. I just keep hot swapping them out until everybody goes to sleep!
@@Texasprepper Exactly. The delta flow is useless when it is depleted as you have to wait for it to recharge. For the Ego just switch out the batteries on the fly with no interruption. Solar is useless at night.
@@rjakiel73 You could get a few Ego batteries for the cost of a Delta but 2 Deltas would be great! One of my concerns is if the Delta battery depletes over time without use. If that is the case and you have multiple Deltas you could end up with dead batteries when you need it since the Delta is only used for one thing. I am constantly cycling through my Ego batteries for all my lawn tools so they always get recharged and are ready to go. I really like the Delta and I agree it is a better powerstation but it is only a powerstation. Ego batteries are expensive but I use them in multiple tools so I feel like I get more bang for my buck.
Great video I already have the Ego batteries and one regular and one fast charger. The only thing I think you should have mentioned the Ego can be used outdoors.
The best way to collect any batteries are to buy the tool kits. If you want 4 10ah batteries. You go buy 4 Ego lawnmower kits with 4 10ah batteries at 3,000 dollars. You can now sell the lawnmowers and chargers separately to recoup your loss. You could have a dirt cheap power station.
Great video. Thanks. I have the EGO because I have all the yard tools and love them. The way I get around the lack of passthru charging is to charge a battery on one of the standalone chargers that come with some of the power tools. They also offer a fast charger. You can do this because you can actively swap batteries while the EGO is running, as long as you leave 1 or 2 batteries on the unit (*depending on load).
It cost to much just buy a Bluetti AC200P or Max for cheaper and it's a real solar generation or power station. This is something you buy if your already have Ego tools and batteries.
The better inverter, the eco, is running the appliances more efficiently. That’s why there are differences in wattage and run times between the 2. To your comments about ego updating the nexus to pass through charging. In my opinion I don’t see that happening anytime soon, and I may be completely wrong on that. The is apples to oranges. ego isn’t competing with ecoflow. Until either Milwaukee or dewalt update their system ego isn’t going to move. Ego makes lawn tools and made an attempt to use the power from the batteries when you need it. Ecoflow is in the business of backup power.
I live in Alaska and you can’t ship lithium batteries so that means I can’t get the Eco flow I learned about the E Go from the a worker at Ace Hardware , that sells the parts to it . So, I can get the batteries from the store and ship the power station. The E Go has too many parts and Eco Flow is so simple. The good thing is that I can slowly buy a part are I get the money, but it won’t work until I get most things like the at least one battery, charger, and power stations at minimum 😢.
Great comparison but I would loved to have seen each pushed beyond their limits and see how accurate their claims are for maximum output. Maybe run some high output tools like table saws, circular saws or a miter saw.
Wow, what an amazingly helpful video. Thank you so much. I just subscribed and am excited to see what other helpful content is here. My personal read is that standalone, the delta is the “better” machine. However, I went with the Ego Nexus and am very happy so far. I went with the Ego because: 1 - It seems to power my primary need just fine (needed an emergency backup power source for Zoeller M267 sump pump, to avoid basement flood when power goes out. It cycles every 30 min ish and needs 1200 watts (115 volts, 10.4 amps). With the two 7.5 batteries that came with the Ego, I’ve been running it all day and it looks like I’ll get 24 hours of use, which works for me. 2 - I already use other Ego tools and love them all. They are legit awesome. The blower and edger work just as you’d expect, nothing too exciting. But the 14 inch Ego chainsaw is a legit game changer. More than enough for any suburb household need. Also my parents live on a farm and that chainsaw has tackled much larger jobs than I ever would have thought possible. Giant diameter trees it cuts without any problem. After a huge storm I cleaned up big trees the entire day without issue, and only re-charged it one time at lunch time for about an hour (5.0 battery) 3 - Where I live the delta max was a few hundred dollars more expensive. And no reason to pay that if the Ego does the job 4 - I like that the ego batteries are separate. So if they ever die or have any issue, can just swap them out without having to replace the whole unit. 5 - I already had a ego 5.0 battery from my other tools, which seamlessly fits right in with the 2 7.5’s that came with the nexus. Bottom line - the ego power station is ten times better for my use than any giant traditional gas generator that would have to stay outside. Very happy with it. Also it’s very VERY easy for my wife, mother and daughters to use. Very happy with the Ego.
I completely agree that batteries are expensive BUT it is not just Ego batteries that are expensive. In comparison I think Ego batteries are lower priced than other brands. A Dewalt 20v 8 amp hr battery is $200 locally. That battery only has a capacity of 160 watt hrs so it comes out to $1.25 / watt hour. The Ego battery that you reference however is a 56 v 10 amp hr battery with a capacity of 560 watt hrs which is $0.80 / watt hr. The cost is high because the capacity is a lot more but it's considerably cheaper per watt hr. Also in my experience my oldest Ego battery is 4.5 years old and it still has at least 93% of it's original capacity which I think is respectable. Warranty on Ego batteries is also quite good IMO.
Great videos man. Have been watching yours for awhile now and you always have a video covering what I’ve bought/ will buy. And right away! Thanks By the way, Have you ever watched F is for family? You sound extremely similar to Goomer.. do you voice him? Lol Check a quick video out and tell me what you think..
Thanks for the video. My concern is with the supply chain issues and the economy in regards to these two power stations. Presently, the Russia-Ukraine invasion is ongoing. In addition and more apparent than ever, China is not a friend of the United States. I believe the EGO is made in China, as for the EcoFlow I don't know where it is made. More than ever, these facts encourage me to completely avoid purchasing anything made in China.
The day China takes over Taiwan the USA will be back in the dark ages as far as tech. About 80% of the advanced semiconductors are made in Taiwan semi factories.....unlike the Russia/Ukraine debacle, China will takeover Taiwan in less than a week assuming of course nobody tosses any nukes So to reiterate, China will have almost all meaningful semi production (micros) and they already manufacture almost everything else the USA consumer buys. Game over.
When I test a refrigerator powers usage I’ll unplug it a good 2 to 4 hours ahead of time (power outage simulation) so that by the time you plug it into a power bank to see it’s true power usage it will need to come on and run. Remember over a days use the refrigerator may go into defrost mode and your battery run time (remanding hours) of the battery bank will go all out the window to say. Because the defrost mode can take 200 to 500 watts and may take over and hour. FYI.
