And the two road crew who survived. They know what happened. They were on the bridge, they saw the ship coming. Why weren’t the crew told to get off the bridge. .? They had cellphones.?.Someone could have called them? It would be good to hear from the two who survived. What they know.

It shouldn't take too long to clear the shipping channel.

@@daltonroberts3133 They can open the channel and use it while reconstructing the bridge. The port and channel were there long before the bridge was built. They're starting on plans to clear it as we speak.

Whatever company owns that ship should be held liable for all expenses involved in repairing or replacing the bridge ,all losses incurred by all parties for loss of use of the bridge , losses to all area businesses for lack of access to their businesses ,any environmental cleanup needed , and all other costs related to the damages caused by this incident

The Singapore-flagged container ship (Dali) had previously been involved in a minor incident in Belgium's Port of Antwerp. The accident, which did not cause any injuries, occurred during good weather and "was caused by the mistake of the Master and pilot on board." The Dali remained afloat after the incident and was subsequently repaired. Separately, an inspection of the Dali in San Antonio, Chile, in June last year found propulsion and auxiliary machinery deficiencies. Danish shipping giant Maersk has confirmed it chartered the Dali. BUT AMERICANS WILL PAY.

The shipping company will pay something but first it has to go through the courts. That takes time and the bridge needs to be rebuilt as soon as possible.

Interesting that the bridges in San Francisco Bay are all protected by fenders, and FSK bridge was not. When the FSK bridge is rebuilt, they should be required design features. The SF Bay Bridge was also hit by a cargo ship - and the fenders did what they were supposed to do. Also, having the tug boats escort the ships all the way out beyond bridge structures is a good low-tech way to keep something like this from happening again. Use 4 tugs instead of 2. As to the Secretary of Transportation, Pete Buttigieg, he hasn't displayed the job skills necessary to perform well in this capacity. And to be fair, his prior job was mayor of South Bend. President Biden should relocate him over to Health and Human Services or Office of General Services. While the fender design was done right at the SF Bay Bridge, the entire project went 4 times over budget and suffered from immediate defects owing to poor government management. It also took 25 years. The original bridge was built in 4. Someone more competent needs to be at the helm for the FSK bridge project.

Fenders may be the answer but remember we've let our infrastructure go to hell for decades. As far as tugs go that's a big added cost and with many new ships with bow thrusters may not be necessary. Buttigieg is doing a fine job. Rhodes scholars are pretty quick to learn and have great critical thinking kills and can see through the BS.

Actually more like an attack from eco terrorist. Preventing coal from shipping out. Preventing fossil fuel machinery from shipping in.
