14:00 Classic economist: makes an assumption, acknowledges assumption is incorrect, then makes claim based on said assumption. All love, coming from an econ major

Have you ever read any books by austrian school economists like mises, hazlitt, hayek or rothbard? If yes, what do you think about them? Ive read economics in one lesson by henry hazlitt, and a little bit of rothbard(the progressive era, austrian perspective on the history of economic thought and americas great depression) and they completly changed my perspective on economics and you can read most of their books for free on the mises institute.

The problem between the fixed ratios of the coins is not only it's not in decimal, but also they are prime numbers! The worst choice to make as base for your counting system since they have the least amount of integer divisors 😂
@MarketPowerYT
@MarketPowerYT 2 месяца назад
I almost pointed out that they were prime numbers, but I hadn't thought about the difficulty of dividing the coins. Can't split galleons or sickles in half!

@@MarketPowerYT yes hahaha if they had choose 24;36 instead of 17;29 they would have highly composite numbers that would work exactly the other way around in terms of divisibility xD

Is it confirmed that wizard money is actually on a metallic standard and that the coins are not just made out of precious metals but traded above their material value?
@MarketPowerYT
@MarketPowerYT 2 месяца назад
You could be right about the coins trading above their value, but the key is the fixed ratio between them. As long as that ratio differs from the market ratio, you can arbitrage.
@MrThomazSatiro
@MrThomazSatiro 2 месяца назад
@@MarketPowerYTcan you elaborate on how a cunning wizard would arbitrage between the coins to become rich? I saw your video and still don't understand it 😅
@MrThomazSatiro
@MrThomazSatiro 2 месяца назад
@@MarketPowerYT i watch it again and I think I understand it now, but I think I identify a problem with your argument When you convert gold to silver in the muggle world you get silver and not sickle, to use se fix ratio between sickles and galleons you have to convert first the silver into coin and I believe only the goblins in Gringots can do that xD

Hey I don’t mean to be rude , you seem like a really nice guy so i thought I’d give you a bit of advice as a viewer. I think the overview was a bit all over the place, you kinda jumped from thing to thing. Im not saying you don’t know what you’re talking about you clearly do but maybe having some visual aids like having “Banking” with a picture of gringotts coming up and or a possible scene from the films. Great job with what you’re doing though
