I'm happy EcoTech did this. I think a specific niche, particularly those running deep tanks or farms with the light rails at a greater than normal height, will greatly benefit. Personally, I much prefer and hope EcoTech continues with the wider lens focus that came as the base for the Radion Gen6, those wide angle lens's are the Gen6's best feature. And is likely far more applicable for most home tanks. A 24" tank almost certainly does not need the high intensity kit, unless it's a die hard Acro tank, and they want the bleeding edge of high PAR. My own tanks are 20" high, and that lens kit would be overkill at best. Although, I also prefer the Gen5 Blue over the Gen6 Blue diode set, as I'd put money on that last generation Blue's being more optimal for coral photosynthetic needs, and the Gen6 catering to the hobby esthetic need for fluorescent's. So who knows. (Which is probably where the difference is for my own bias, I want coral biological needs first and foremost over other considerations) Overall though, the more add-on features EcoTech provides us to tweak and cater to our own tanks: the better. Having both wide and narrow focus lens's is great. I'd also love to see the G5 blue diode set come back as a 4th Radion option. And while I suspect EcoTech is working on Gen7 (pure speculation), I think giving us extra features would be time better spent. The Gen6 fixture is superb, why not just build on it for several more years and give us a richer feature set? The only down side is every new way to tweak a light, increases the learning curve. Putting a tool like two lens kits in "experienced reefer" territory, and "new hobbyist" tread cautiously and do plenty of research. (and perhaps get an AI blade instead?)
Been waiting for soneone to do this video 😁👍🏻 Would have been interesting to see the difference at the outer edges, see what sort of par drop there is with the narrower lenses
"LED lights are too powerful and hot spots are burning coral" - Ecotech - "let me tell you about this G5/G6 light "LED lights are too spread and not enough par getting down in the tank" Ecotech - "let me tell you about this new lens kit" Create a problem and sell a solution. Got it
Different options for different tanks. A shallow tank and a deep tank have very different requirements. Lots of thing play into what is ideal for a specific tank .
If you have G6, can you use G5 lens? I feel like the narrow lens is too narrow and G6 is too wide. G5 spread was perfect, but that dang cyan channel messed it up.
I know this may seem a bit counterintuitive, but do you know if the ecotech diffusers still fit with the high intensity lenses? I already have the diffusers and am contemplating switching to these lenses just so I can raise my lights up without having too much light bleed
@@ReefDudes Sounds good! What do you think on which Intensity i put the XR 15 over that Kind of Tank? Mainly zoas, Hammer Coral and some Montipora / Stylophora Milka. Ideally i dont want to crank them up so the Fan won‘t Drive me Crazy
