Wanted to say thanks for your review! I started to have problem after problem with my Roborock S6MaxV (wouldn't vacuum the middle of my living room because of electromagnetic fields detected and the issues with the side brush getting tangled in my higher pile carpet). I picked up the T8+ from Bestbuy today and it has NONE of the issues the Roborock did. It never got tangled in the high pile carpet and it ignored the EMF area. Navigation is pretty good (I prefer the roborock's cleaner pattern) but it seems great at avoiding cables and things in its way with the new sensors. Thanks again for making videos that help us make better choices. I already printed my return label for the S6MaxV .
Just bought a T8 aivi last week and I LURVE it 😍 no more manual vacuuming which was very tedious. There were many times when i was too lazy to vacuum and the floor became very dirty in 3 days. After the T8 made its first run, i fell in love. The floor was so clean!! For the past 7 days, i have been testing the remote cleaning via the app, mopping, scrubber. The home has never been cleaner!! Next the auto empty station, thanks for the review.m👍
Reoccurring costs are annoying but know what's worse? How about in 2-4 years when they want you to buy the latest vacuum + empty station, all they have to do is stop selling the bags and the station becomes worthless, I mean you could argue it's fine if they used some standard bag for an upright vacuum that some other company also uses since those will likely stick around for years, but there's no guarantee with these devices though.
I just purchased the t8+ today and on the first run omg the mapping blew away the roomba s9+ can’t wait to do more testing and eventually put out a review of my own
I had a problem with it not emptying because of hair as well. In my case, I noticed a few strands of hair would try to come out each of the two sides. So I decided to put some tape over one of the holes in the dust bin. After that, it empties every time without issue. I've noticed a few grains left in the bin that may be better cleared with both doors open, but it's not enough to make any real difference.
@Jacob Dawson well u know shark paid vacuum wars to recommend the shark iq in an infomercial. That should tell you they're obviously taking money to recommend products. Look up tech reviews and more channel. Unbiased
Seeing as it’s a chinese company I’m sure they paid him a LOt. Don’t trust a robot vacuum with a front mounted camera in your house with the WiFi connected to your network!! 6 months ago ecovacs or deebot claimed itself as being a German company or hid the fact it’s a chinese company.
Thanks for this. I bought the new T9+ which landed here last week and debated HEAVILY about the T8 AIVI instead. In Australia there was $400 difference with the T9+ coming in cheaper with the Auto Empty station included. I'm really happy with the decision as it mappped really well, sucks (in a good way) more than the T8 and has all the features the T8 AIVI has that I require. I do not need a camera and microphone on my vacuum, so I can't see any difference. Look forward to your review.
Loved this video! If you could, please do a video very similar to this one, but on the vibrating mop pad feature. It would be great to see legitimate tests done to see how much better the T8 is with the vibrating pad and whether or not it's worth picking one up. Thanks, You rock!
You should check out the new T8. The 3D sensors work better than the camera in the T8 AIVI, and even though it’s cheaper, its navigation and obstacle avoidance is even better than the T8 AIVI. I bought both and decided to keep the T8 over the T8 AIVI. Loving it so far.
The one thing I dislike about my T8 AIVI is it has issues dividing rooms. It gives me a timeout error on Android and a error written in Mandarin on iOS. I contacted support but they were unhelpful. It's not a deal breaking issue. Overall an excellent vacuum that I bought on your recommendation.
THANK YOU!! Awesome content as usual and so timely. Please keep posting more updates to Instagram, loved getting a sneak peek of what you’re working on
I think a really good testing metric on robot vacuums would be its ability to navigate on premium synthetic carpets being installed in a lot of new homes like Mohawk Smart Strand. The Roomba s9+ was completely unable to navigate on my carpet while the i7+ has no problem at all. I'd be very interested to seeing the deep cleaning ability on this type of carpet by robot and even upright/cordless vacuums.
Have you noticed an improvement at clearing pet hair from the auto empty bin since the latest firmware update. May be a coincidence but volumes of hair that I thought would get stuck (would do pre update) are now clearing.
Ive a long hair Persian & an exotic Persian & I've just purchased this robot vac & auto empty station to replace my D79 auto empty deebot! I'm hoping a future software update (?) will have the vac empty the cat hair *before* auto emptying faults out on its only freaking job... emptying bots bin!!
here is the issue with that, eventually the bag loses its capacity to filtrate. You might get 2 or maybe 3 uses before you start smelling dust in the air every time your vacuum goes back to the base to empty.
@@VacuumWars Have you tested if the iRobot bags are interchangeable with Ecovacs? The bag covers/trays look similar. There are 3rd party bags for iRobot selling 10 pack for $20 which is definitely a better deal, wondering if they'd fit T8's station. People on Etsy are also selling reusable iRobot bags with zippers!
@@jzizzles7799 uhm yeah it does. My i7 never gets stuck or needs help. Never sucks anything up into it. I tell it to go clean a room and it goes and does it and has never gotten lost. Plus I have the auto empty so I never have to touch the thing except for regular maintenance
My husband and I picked up a T8 on Black Friday at a ridiculously low price. I don’t think I’ve had to rescue it once, and rarely have to empty it during its daily run. It’s really quiet, and even without the auto empty bin, it’s been almost pleasant to use. Almost. Haven’t used the mop function yet. I also don’t chase it screaming like a moron like I do with our Roomba.
I own the Shark IQ, the new NeeBot NoMo, and this T8. I also own 4 cats and a Lab. The New Self Emptying Bin on the T8 DOES NOT always get all the hair out as you stated! Great job! It gets it out probably 75% of the time. You didn’t mention the Motorized Mopping attachment! 😂 it works pretty darn good on the T8
That's up for debate. Disposable bags are way more sanitary. When you open the bag less systems to dump it you are releasing some of the things you just vacuumed up back in to the air. So for people have have allergies the disposable bags might be a better option.
I understand your point of view. I prefer with bags (unfortunatly). I have a roborock and cleaning the robot dust bin mean some fine dust going in the air, even when i'm carefull. I'm not a clean-maniac (2x/week main floor, 1x second floor) and I find it's discusting. price is high for that kind of bag.
Price for bags is high... unfortunately I didn't check before purchasing this new deebot & auto empty station... so Evovac had best do something about that price I think 😊
What about the T8 with truedetect 3D instead of AIVI? It looks like the obstacle avoidance is far superior to anything else in the market and it's actually cheaper than the AIVI. After all, I don't need the camera functions and I certainly don't need to identify that the obstacle is a shoe or a cable as long it's properly avoided.
Yes it is more accurate by far. I tried a Roborock S6MaxV which has two cameras instead of one and the T8 was able to avoid more obstacles more often than it so indeed is more accurate.
@Jacob Dawson So far from what I have seen in a few reviews, the S6 maxv could pick up larger objects, but Ecovac t8 with 3d navigated better as well as can detect carpet/rugs when in mopping mode and not go over them. S6 you must set where not to mop, but then the mop still gets dragged along on the carpet.
I also have another tip involving the pet hair. Get a second bin base and place it on the opposite side of the house (or level for multiple storied homes). Some of these vacuums, like irobot, will keep sucking while it is going back to empty the bin. I find having one on each side is less likely to allow clogging due to this.
I do like that it will clean right up beside the base station unlike Roomba's which almost seem to be afraid of their stations. With my i7+, I don't remember what the amount of debris irobot says their bags can hold, however it cleans every day. I had 5 cats at the time, and the bag lasted well over 3 months before the station's red light came on informing me the bag is now full. So i'm sure that bag will last longer then they say, unless its a smaller bag over all. Plus there's always knockoff options on Amazon for a cheaper option.
Hey :) about to buy my first robot vacuum, deciding between the Roborock S6 MaxV and the Deebot T8, can I ask why you went with the T8 over the S6 for your home?
Need a recommendation for roborock s6 maxv vs deebot t8 avi please, on cleanliness is it actually a game changer with the bin? Which does best deep clean? Also does it have night vision?
T8 non AI can work in complete darkness, TI AI needs Light for the cameras. Both have external dust storage bin that the s6 does not have. From the reviews I have seen, T8 non AI is better than the AI. Both ecovacs automatically do not go on carpet/rugs when in mopping mode while the Roborock you have to set no go mop zones.
Steve Thea T8 AIVI came out like 6 months ago and has artificial intelligence and a camera for small obstacle avoidance, plus has a home patrol feature where it can drive around your house and send you pictures and video to check on things. The T8 was just released in the US and has 3D sensors instead of a camera for small obstacle avoidance. It’s cheaper than the AIVI and doesn’t have the patrol / video features, but it’s actually better at avoiding small obstacles. The T8+ is just the new T8 with the auto-empty station bundled. The T8 Pro isn’t sold in the US, but I think it’s just the T8 for the Japanese market.
@@stevethea5250 T8 uses cross aimed lasers with an IR sensor in the middle to scan and detect 3D objects to avoid down to 1mm. The AIVI uses a single camera to analyze and avoid objects down to (I think) 3-5mm. The T8+ comes with the self empty docking station but only the regular mop attachment while the T8Pro comes with the robot and the vibrating mop attachment. That's the best of my understanding! Hope this helps! I personally picked up the T8+ from Bestbuy from $660 after taxes and it's amazing!
Great review. Thanks! Do let us know about that fussy bin. P.S. $650 for the robot + $250 for the bin & $20 for 3 replacement bags. As Oregonians say, 'spendy!'.
$699 for T8+ (T8 Non-AIVI and Auto Empty Station package) at Best Buy. $100 less than Roomba i7+ and the T8 has LIDAR and 3D object detection. We don't have any pets but so far the T8 Auto Empty has worked as advertised.
Got one. Sorry, cannot match my old Roboroc S5's nav. I'm constantly having to rescue the T8 and it often gets lost trying to return for recharge. Also won't crawl up on the area rugs most of the time (mixed tile/carpet/rugs). Unimpressed. I'd rather empty a solid Roboroc once per clean than help this thing all the time.
Roborock has had a lot of success in the past few years, but it seems like they’re getting lazy recently. Ecovacs beat them to AI, and now they beat them to an auto-empty station, to an oscillating mop, and to the new 3D sensors that the just released T8 has.
@Jacob Dawson Amazon reviews are trash. Most are paid-for without disclosing it, and the ones that aren't are all written by morons that would give a paper bag a negative review for not holding water.
Really enjoy your videos, as we are looking to purchase a robot vacuum soon. Also, your link for "favorite robot vacuum" goes straight to the shark navigator upright
do you have anything like a razor blade on the front and three balloons on the back just like the king of random dead with someone in navigation what about dragons
So when the robot is full while cleaning it doesn’t stop ? It try’s to keep going to complete its run ? Or does it know when it’s full and return home to empty ?
For anyone who has this self empty station... have you figured out a trick to get it to actually empty a dustbin that's full of pet hair. It doesn't matter how dense/light the pet hair is, it never gets it emptied. I've just been emptying it manually.
The bags are actually a good idea over Shark bagless. The Shark has a foam filter that needs to be cleaned often called Pre-Motor filter. Kind of a pain. I would rather just toss a bag. My only concern is the small size. I have two cats and cat hair fills vacuums fast. I am hopeful you will update on how you like it with your two cats.
I had this system and love it. And thank you for the videos, they are always super well done and informative. Can you please answer this if you know! How do I know when the bag is full??? I can’t find an app notification or anything?
By far my biggest concern about self emptying vacuums is their ability to handle long hair. With my roomba e6, I feel like I need to clear rollers and side brush every time I empty the bin, which seems to make auto emptying pointless. I'd love to hear your thoughts, it can't be an uncommon problem.
LOL, I got the E6 specifically because of having enough 18" or longer hair that it killed 2 Shark Navigator floor nozzles! (Need to order a 3rd). 30 seconds to get the hair off the rollers on the E6 vs 5 minutes with a hook blade after every run with the Shark. The Roomba E6 is so much better.
@@Trainboy1EJR I also upgraded to an e6 from a 655 because of long hair handling. And as much better as it is, I still need to do it every time I empty the bin.
I feel bad, corner cleaning fell off my radar a long time ago and I don't test it anymore. Generally speaking, I have never seen a robot vacuum do perfectly with it, and even the ones that say they are good at it are about the same as the others.
I bought both to compare and the T8 with 3D sensors is easily better at obstacle avoidance. I’m going to return the AIVI because while the video features are cool, they aren’t as important as obstacle avoidance in my opinion.
Hi, could you please do a comparison test including XCLEA H30 Plus from Huawei. It has the empty station too. Btw, I'm your new subscriber. Your comparison and review videos are very detailed and fun to watch. Started knowing your channel when I just bought my Deebot Ozmo 950, and looking information regarding it. And found your channel is the best one among others.
I just bought this from Costco for $849.99 included Emptying Bin. I hope it would do the job as described! Do you know how many run does T8 need to do in order to create the house/rooms map?
How about an update on the shark auto-empty? We know you worked with shark and gave it a great review at the time, but they still haven't updated their navigation intelligence!
Considering no other factor aside from how well it cleans, which robot mop cleans best, Deebot T8 aivi, Jet 240, or M6? In other words, can the T8 out mop a braava?
Awesome review! I’m looking for the vacuum + auto empty dispenser because the link in your description directs me to the iRobot version and not the T8. Can you update with the link to buying the auto empty combo for the T8? Thanks in advance!
I really need to review the T8 (different than the T8 AIVI.) The T8 is included in the T8+, it looks like. It seems that the difference is that the T8 doesn't have as sophisticated of software/hardware that is associated with the AI aspect of the T8 AIVI, but I'm not sure. Does anyone has a clear idea of the differences?
@@VacuumWars Yes. The T8 aivi uses the camera and AI chipset to process obstacles but the T8+ uses a technology similar to the iPhone facial recognition; it projects lasers onto the objects and so the robot can tell the distance and objects in front of it. I initially bought the T8+, it was good but not perfect so I returned it on Friday and bought the T8 AIVI... it's been 6 days and the T8 AIVI is a lot worse in terms of obstacle avoidance. The T8 AIVI doesn't recognise any cables, cat food bowls or door stops. It pushed them around and got tangled by the cables all the time. The T8+ could at least avoid these objects 8 out of 10 times. I think I am going to return the T8 AIVI and get the T8 instead. I also actually emailed Ecovacs and asked them about the T8 aivi, this is what they answered "We apologized if the previous information did not satisfy your needs. To address your concern, we have answered them numerically in italic form, as you sent them. Please refer on the information below. 1) the vacuum keeps bumping into the cat food bowls and moving it around, will it learn to avoid the cat food bowls over time, yes or no ? 2) does the vacuum avoid animals waste, yes or no? No, we would like to inform that currently, AIVI will only be able to automatically recognize shoes, slippers, socks, cleaning pads, electrical cords, floor mats and its charging dock. However, it may still vary on the size and shape(how big/small). OZMO T8 AIVI will not be able to detect animal's feces/waste. 3) you advertise that the vacuum has an artificial intelligence function and will “learn” over time, how long will it take to learn? And what does it learn? In future software upgrades on the ECOVACS Home App, AIVI will be capable of recognizing additional objects. We may suggest you to upgrade your unit in a timely manner through the ECOVACS Home App to ensure the unit has the latest functions. We regret to inform that we are unable to give you the exact timing for the upgrades. Please be assured that your feedback will be shared to our team. We truly appreciate your patience and understanding on this matter. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any question. "
I bought this vacuum after doing a lot of research including watching this video and others. The main problem I have found with this vacuum is the app is terrible. I have a fairly large house with a floorplan that is not on a grid and has 3 levels, one of which is 2 steps down to a sunken living room. The bot only supports 2 levels, so when I need to vacuum the living room, I have to place the bot on that level and let the bot create a whole new map, which is deleted after I finish unless I want to delete one of the other 2 maps and replace that one with the new living room map. Next, the app is extremely difficult to work with to do simple things like divide an area. The map developed for my downstairs didn't recognize some of the walls as being walls, so they have become a part of a very large area that includes the foyer, the long hallway that goes to the back bedrooms of the house, the dining room, kitchen and our breakfast dining area. The app allowed me to make one divide in the space and now I can't make any more. I have reported the problems to Ecovacs, but between their English being very poor and their resistance to admit the limitations of their product, I have gotten nowhere. if I could return the robot I would. It is junk without the proper tools available to manage it. Buy something else. I gave it one star on Amazon.
Hi is this better then roborock s5max or not bc i am looking for a mop and vacuum in one plus the self empty is extra so which one is better roborock s5max or deebot t8
I think it would be very interesting If you test dysons new cinetic big ball absolute 2. Since it claims to be the only vacuum with HEPA like behaviour, but without any filters.
Hey, waht about mopping, is it really works, cause you never mentioned anything about it, btw your channel is awesome, I bought a deebot 930 and now I'm planning to buy this one because your review
Thanks! Since this video was just about the Station (they released it separately) I didn't look at the mop here. Did you get a chance to look at the review of T8 AIVI robot vacuum? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--ucMdHZMH4I.html
Could you please review the difference between Ecovac Osmo T8 Regular and T8 AIVI. I would like to know specifically if there is any difference in power / cfm between the 2 or is it just the camera on the AIVI. Thanks.
Help.. I've contacted ecovac.. but I've already done everything they said... The problem... My robot struggles to mount the charging station.. I have to help it after it tries 3-4 times... And my auto empty bag is empty.. it makes the noise and action like it's working.. but it's not.. another thing.. I put the dust bin.. the gray one.. removed the 2 little opening covers with the key.. but when they sent me instructions.. it said be sure you install the black dust bin..???? So not mounting and not emptying to the bag... Help!
The Auto-Empty Station stopped cleaning the DEEBOT’s dustbin automatically after cleaning each time. I did see something about some Icon for auto empty but I can't find it. It did auto empty the first few times, I think a setting might have changed but I can't find it yet.
I am not a Shark endorser but I have tried both the Shark IQ robot self emptying bin and the newer model Shark IQ XL self emptying bin and it does the job The only problem is their annoying app scheduling is bad only 10 minutes of vaccum instead of 60 minutes. It picks up pretty good and I think it’s better than the I7 and I9 Roomba iRobot because it can vacuum hardfloor and then floor carpets vs the IRobots which can’t switch from hard wood floor to floor carpets. It gets stuck all the time! Also you have to keep spending money on bags and parts. Poor design by Roomba. The Shark IQ is bagless but cleaning it every 2 weeks is no fun. Same goes with the iRobot. I currently have the Shark XL IQ Robot self emptying bin that just came out last month and very happy with its performance.
What about the price adjustment? Is it cheaper than getting the shark or irobot, or is the price the same since you have to buy auto empty bin separately?
Really appreciate your reviews @vacuumwars Any issues with the mapping feature with your T8? I am just about ready to buy it, but it seems like many users are reporting that issue?
Been waiting for this! What are your thoughts on the T8 AIVI vs the T8? The T8 seems to also have front sensors for cord avoidance. I don't know what the practical difference is. Especially since Amazon has them priced the same now. Can you review the pro mop too? My house is mostly hardwood and I am thinking that might be a worthy upgrade.
@@commentsonthetube14 i totally have no idea. There are many videos featuring a comparison between the two and people also wonder why the T8 is better than the T8 Aivi despite being cheaper. T8 beats both T8 Aivi and Roborock S6 MaxV in term of avoiding obstacles
My auto empty function stopped working. After cleaning it announces that is is auto cleaning and has the notice in the app, but it is not actually auto emptying...Help
The filter on the robot and auto empty, is it a hepa filter or something else because as i Know it hepa filter is really good, and are the filter washable? And where do you get the vibrating mop from?
Hi, Great videos! :) Are you still using it? Or did you switch to something better? How do you expect this to compare with the Roborock S7 just launched?
Great thorough reviews, appreciate your insights :) Have you looked into the XCLEA H30 Plus? I know it's not released currently, but would appreciate your thoughts regarding comparing it to the Deebot T8 AIVI or similar, seems like the only thing it lacks is the auto-stop for the mopping when going onto a carpet, but apparently, the app can designate no mop zones. Overall this looks to be a much more cost-effective competitor, curious if you think it is worth the punt or to stay with the known brands like Roborock, etc who have had more time to perfect their hardware and software. Thanks in advance!
