It would seem that the T9+ is better than the T9 AIVI for navigation, the camera does not seem to work as well for object avoidance compared to the 3D laser setup....
Do you think the T9 is worth it over the T8? Best Buy has the T8+ on sale for $449 right now and the OZMO Pro mopping can be had for $35 on Aliexpress. Is the T9 significantly better than the T8? I'm still confused as to why the T9 is not officially available in the US.

I recently upgraded from a Roomba e6 to a Deebot N8+ Pro but I'm having the same problem you mentioned having with the T8: it keeps getting confused near our stainless steel appliances and our chrome furniture legs... So I'm sending it back and planning to try an AIVI model instead, but the T9+ AIVI isn't available in Canada yet... Do you think the T8+ AIVI will be good enough or is there substantial improvements to the AIVI in the newest model? I know I can get the T9+ AIVI from China through AliExpress but I'm not sure it's worth the trouble. (1- it won't work with Google Home, 2- you need a Chinese phone number to set up the app, which the seller will provide but still, and 3- I'm worried the taxes and duties will be ridiculous) So I just wonder if I should order it from China, hold off for a while till it's actually available in Canada, or just get the T8+ instead?
So I bought mine from alibaba - there were no crazy taxes or duties. I just paid normal sales tax. It arrived via UPS just like a normal package and took less than a week. The AIVI is supposed to be improved but I’m sorry I can’t compare since I haven’t owned the t8 AIVI. I doubt the t9 AIVI will make its way outside of China. I do think the t8 AIVI will work for you, though! You could always give it a try and return if needed.
Also, you can turn off true 3D detection in the app on your N8- that will fix the issue with stainless steel appliances and furniture legs. However Um you do lose the object avoidance (which is just okay in my book)
@@BrentNelson Thanks so much for the reply! I've already returned the N8 and I noticed Costco had the T8+ AIVI on sale right now so I think I'm going to try it... I have a feeling it'll work well enough but if not I can always return it :)
There is no google home from Chinese version. Are you aware if there any way to link with other smart product?Smartthings, home assistant? What about the warranty? I am from Canada and also considering T9 aivi too or maybe the n9+ with that nice dust/water recharge base.

I have a T8 with Ozmo pro 1.0. They say the 2.0 is quieter and better, any input? Also, are the new rubber agitators better or worse on carpet vs the standard bristle one? I tested an Roomva S9 on carpet and it seems to do well with the same agitator setup as the T9 AIVI. Thank you,
Hello, may I ask a few questions: - Is the robot too noisy when working? - Do you have any problem using the app Ecovacs Home so far? My concern is that when you select China as region and use a Chinese ID but live outside China, the app can be laggy and has some errors. I've got the t8 aivi, looking at the t9, how much improvement have they made with the ozmo pro 2.0? The ozmo pro on my t8 is loud and not that effective at removing stains

happy to answer! 1. the software should be the same, it uses the same ecovacs app that is available in the App Store, just the T9 AIVI unlocks a new interface and features. I can't imagine that would change if the robot is released outside of china. 2. There is a T9 AIVI+ available with the Self Empty Station. 3. Would I recommend....so far, yes! But maybe only if you get the self empty station - the dust bin inside the robot is half the size as previous Deebots. They had to make room for the double brushroll. Otherwise, it cleans really well and the AIVI detection has gotten much, much better! so fa I haven't really had any hair tangles on the brushrolls either!

Thanks a lot for uploading these T9-in-action videos, Brent. The extended periods of silence on the audio track allow viewers to judge for themselves how the Deebot T9 AIVI is performing. Your brief comments are useful & necessary to point out the context, a previous comparison, etc. In your opinion, is the mopping performance much better than that of the T8 AIVI or similar mopping robots?
Update. I have My t9 aivi for 2 weeks nearly. The 3D mapping is pointless. You have to create it manually. And the navigation and performance is the same as the t8. I would say the older brush bar of the t8 is better on carpet.
@@BrentNelson t9 aivi is better now on its more recent 1.4.5 firmware. T9 seems to find its position better when using on multi floors. But the brush on the t8 aivi is better for carpets.
@@TadasBurovas the same tbh. It’s a drag mop. Can’t really make it any better. Just as noisy. T9 aivi don’t come with static mop option just a pointless air freshener.
I recently purchased the same T9 AIVI. Using iRobots dual roller main brush is a huge improvement! Now my carpet is on the thicker side, and I noticed that the T9 based on my experience had trouble picking up smaller things (rice, sand, sugar...things like this) but did an excellent job picking up heavier items. I also found out, that the T9 AIVI does an excellent job picking up every day messes and the auto empty bin station makes for an even better experience. I did an experiment where I had the T9 vacuum my carpet (standard suction setting) and followed it up with a Dyson V6 Absolute (max setting) and the Dyson was only picking up very fine dust and not really much of anything. Soooo the T9 AIVI with the dual main brush is amazing with carpet! Just know that the intake port to the dust bin is a bit smaller as well as the dust bin itself.
@@BrentNelson I already have a Deebot Ozmo 950 at home (aligned to another region/country), but to setup and use the T9 that i purchased from Alibaba, i was required to change the region to mainland china, with a virtual phone number provided by Frank. I found this a little incovenient, as i have to now use two mobiles to operate my two deebots, instead of one single app from my mobile. You faced/facing something similar? and did you overcome that? Is there a way to download firmware that can change the region/country to elsewhere ?
@@shadyandrei Yes the AIVI stands for Artificial Intelligence Visual Interpretation (Something like that) so for the AI to do its job, it uses a camera. Not said in the video... but the T9 AIVI will allow you to access its camera while its cleaning... the T8 AIVI couldn't do that.
Dear, thanks for your video about T9. Is very helpfull. I would like to ask you: you talk about stainless steel and T8. You mean the T8 with true detect (3D) or the T8 AIVI? I have an Italian telegram group about ecovacs robots. And we discover the stainless steel problem with the T8 (true detect model) moths ago. Asked to ecovacs but they said no solution. with the people of the channel that own the T8, we found this huge problem about stainless steel. Please kind let me know if you had the T8 or the T8 AIVI. The T9 AIVI is not available in my country at the moment for test it.
@@BrentNelson exactly what we figured out. I try to contact ecovacs about it. This problem it will be easily to solve adding the possibility to trace an area in the map exactly like the no mop zone, with an option like true detect on or off. What do you think?
No, it’s not. The standard T9 is essentially an upgraded T8/N8 with version 2.0 TrueDetect 3D. Has the standard ecovacs brush rolls found in the T8/N8. The only thing else that is really added is the ability to use the new air freshener pacs. The dual rubber brush rolls are only found on the T9 AIVI.

I think my ideal bot would be a T9 AIVI with dual brushes and cam and AI, but also the T9 TrueDepth sensors for obstacle avoidance for when AI doesn’t cut it, and air freshener as well. And maybe also the water reservoir and air dryer included in the new base like for the new N9+. Also, it’s unclear to me if the T9 AIVI has a system to pull up the mop and automate sweep/mop in one cycle depending on surface (carpets vs hard floors) similarly to what the new roborock S7 has.
@@luigilauro it uses the new ozmo pro 2.0 which is the motorized mopping attachment. Doesn’t raise up, but will clean better than the roborock mop on the s7.
