I am impressed. I have looked at these in the past and was wondering if they were as good a quality as they looked. I think they are worth the premium. If you want something that just works, these are a great option. DIY is of course much cheaper, but these are every bit as good as a Battleborn. BTW, thanks Will, good review as usual!

I have had the 12v 400ah for 6 months now. Love it!!! Bluetooth shunt would be a nice upgrade. Great price also. Probably gonna go up now. Electric car parts has many options for batteries now, more than when I order mine. Hope shipping got faster. It took 4 months due to US customs.

Ive been using the 12v 400ah version. For one year now. It powers my Electrofishing unit for Doing Fish Surveys. It replaced the two 8D 250ah Lead batteries i was using. By far the best battery for this type of work. It also has been in the boat the whole time in all types of weather with no problems. I charge it with a 210w solar panel with a waterproof 20a charge controller.Happy to see you review them.

Just curious, do you know what sort of voltage/current waveforms are used to stun the fish? How far apart are the electrodes?
@jasonpaulluster
@jasonpaulluster 3 года назад
@@romand4651 output V is about 600, Frequency is 20-116Hz modified sign wave. Conductivity of the water will dictate amp draw, average being 80-100A. Electrodes are the anodes and the boat is the cathode. Aluminum hull. you can have one or more electrodes if you like. Always think safety first while doing this type of work.

@@jasonpaulluster wow 80A, any idea how much of that goes through a given fish? I thought it would be high V fast pulses
@jasonpaulluster
@jasonpaulluster 3 года назад
@@romand4651 I really don't. Fish are only temporarily stopped for us to net the fish. The larger the fish the more stopping power i have over them. The conductivity of the fish also makes for some fish not coming up and some coming up very fast.

I swear the more I watch your teardown vids the more I want to just start building some crazy nice and heavy duty batteries in the $500-600 range for a 100ah to bring to market. Overall most people would rather buy a ready made battery with warranty, as opposed to build. Already a business owner, so Im more than familiar with the challenges that have to be overcome in order to build a name. First however would be to send the prototypes to you and let you rip it apart so that any potential shortcomings could be corrected. 😁

Nice looking battery, but kinda pricey. Looking at the pro version it appears to be similar to how a Valence ubms system operates. No bms fets handling cutoffs. instead using the communication port to handle all on and offs of chargers, inverters, relays etc once parameters are met. I have a similar setup running valence u27xps where the bms only turns off and on my chargers, inverter and SSR for non inverter loads. Example: voltage gets to low then bms sends signal to turn off my victron inverter and victron ssr for the DC loads, then the solar charger can stay on to recover the battery without loads pulling the battery lower. Definitely not for most people watching but this, however this type of setup is really good in industrial applications, ev vehicles and maybe very large parallel systems.

It's nice to have the option to buy something that isn't built to a price point first and foremost. Even if your application is stationary, that padding could save you big time should something impact the battery. This probably could be serviceable, if one has a tap-and-die set, a good drill, and steady hands. 😁🔥👍

Hey Will have you thought about doing a video on a DIY 48v li ion pack using a Tesla model 3 battery module? If you break a big module in half you would have a 12s lower voltage but at about 20kw. Setting the charge and discharging voltage limit you may lose a bit but still have around 15kw and a really long cycle life. Some of these modules are going for around 800-1200 + a little shipping. With two good bms and wired correctly to the bricks I think you would have a epic battery. Heck throw a cabinet on a wall and mount it in there too for safety. Let me know if you think it's doable and worth a shot. Thanks and take it easy man! Casey

I paid $1930 for the ECPC/Bestgo 400Ah, shipped which also included a spare remote meter and cabling. I am seeing a little over $1000 for the SOK 206Ah and since you'd need two of them to make 400Ah, that makes the SOK more expensive. What am I missing? I tested the Bestgo at 10A draw rate down only to 2.8V/cell cutoff and it put out 430Ah, quite impressive.

Hello, I have a quick question. I have a yeti 3000x, hooked up to six 100 watt panels of the 50amp input GZ Anderson cord. I'm currently taking my garage fridge and deep freezer off my grid with this setup. Is this process practical or will it hurt me long run? Right now it's sustaining itself and haven't seen it drop under 40% even on the cloudy day's and providing only 250 watts of inputs. On sunny days I've seen 579 watts. Any inputs will be appreciated

How about some micro inverters?!

Forgive my ignorance but let acid batteries require maintenance, thought the lithium-ion did not. You're talkin about replacing cells, replacing bms? ... not a set-forget? Was Mechanical Eng a LONG time ago.

Only thing don't like on these is the cheap little display, but of course their going to sell for more $, the SOK's are sold out on their site.

OK Going fishing on this one!!! I have 6 x 100ah bbb w/ Victron Multiplus 2000. The main draw is an DC AC Proair RT Unit & It draws between 60-100 amps. So it last between 5-8 hours during the a hot summer day. What would be the best way to add run time. Is it more batteries or is it a small 2000 watt gen. I just need maybe 1-2 hours more. Oh, I have an Panasonic 330 watt panel and a 2nd alternator with Balmar MC-614 voltage regulator that helps repowers my bank. It does a great job when drive on the highway. When I get home, shore power does the rest. So what should I add?

So I want to install a separate breaker box to run a backup solar system with. It seemed simple enough to me but now I’m confused about bonding neutral. Would I want a ground bonded neutral box or not?

Hey, does the website you link for the hybrid inverters ship to Alaska? Having a hard time getting anything up here because most websites claim to not ship up here because we are ‘outside’ the US.

Great video, I would love your suggestions on powering a indoor Nebra Hotspot, which is all the craze right now. Nebra hotspots mines a crypto token called HNT. I have a 3 party outdoor enclosure. I’m thing of using a solar chargeable battery

If these ECPC units start selling that tells BattleBorn and SOK they can raise their prices $100-$300 and their still less expensive. You charge what ever the market will bear.
