Bought it 2 months ago... worked great until one of the struts developed massive play. Now barely opens and squeaks every time I try to close the hatch. Bad reliability
they are super hit or miss.. ive seen some FLY open and look stupid as hell.. others barley open.. some open so slowly and not smooth some very hard to shut not worth it..just put your god damn shit down for a sec and open the trunk lol
I currently have the ECS hatch pop kit and it is way too aggressive. I don't know if you guys revised the struts in any way (the ones in this video look different) but mine opens way too forcefully.. any help or replacement would be greatly appreciated.
you could try trimming or compressing the springs on the strut itself a little at a timw till its where you want it, that all that really controls the speed. keep in mind though, the springs need to be strong enough for the hatch to open enough so that the strut then does the rest and opens it fully.
Had same issue. I took kit off cos It felt too aggressive and was worried it could damage car Ecs offered revised kit but I didn’t want it Issued refund So I can’t complain Would like to know if revised kit is less aggressive?? Anyone know please post Cheers

We cannot confirm if OBDeleven works because we don't have it. If it can change the coding of the trunk latch to fully unlock with the key fob, then it should work in theory.
Hi, I've seen a couple reviews on RU-vid about your product and it says that the struts are pretty stong and they make the hatch open really fast and hit the hinges... just wanted to confirm if this problem has been resolved?
^^ Can confirm this. SO much effort to close it from the inside handles and my girlfriend is unable to close it at all. Id say its closer to 60% more effort
Hey guys got the Carista and it works great. I also bought a pop hatch kit but there isn't a coding option on the app. Is there a patch they can send me? If not I have friends with VCDS
If I unplug the Carista dongle after coding, will the coding still work? I’m planning on installing a COBB Accesport V3 but that uses the OBD II port as well. Thank you! EDIT: Nevermind. I just noticed that when I hold on the trunk button on the key fob it unlatches and I tested it by holding down the button and when it makes the electronic actuator sound I pulled on the rear wiper arm at the same time and it did open.
Got my kit it installed very easy Only thing it's not as soft opening as in this video I would say it's slightly aggressive when it reaches the point where it's fully open the car actually shakes with the force of it opening??? ECS is this normal? Or will it ease with time ?? Feeling like I'm abusing my car with this kit.

If you hold the boot button for 3 seconds on your key and the boot pops open then you don’t need to do any coding but some people’s doesn’t pop so it won’t spring open and that’s why the coding needs to be done to basically change the settings
Paid £161gbp to have it delivered to 🇬🇧. Only to occur a £41,51 gbp charge over £200 So I got charged tax for the USA 🇺🇸 and tax for the 🇬🇧 ECS Tuning - I’m not very happy at all that’s a lot of money for the pop hatch struts

We don't have the MK7 1.2 TSI Golf here in the USA so we can't confirm fitment, but it may fit since it is a MK7. Maybe someone else can chime in if they have installed the kit.
for the mk5/6 you just need to purchase a set of struts meant for a skoda fabia mk1, remove the original struts, remove the brackets and rotate them 180 degrees then bolt them back in, fit the skoda gas strutts and you are done. then when you hold the boot unlock button your boot will open itself. they are a bit violent and stiff at first but soften up after a few months
