Since when is a top 10 finish a good result? In my opinion it is like settling for a participation trophy. To me a good result is whenever an American tows the starting line, they have as good a chance as anyone to win the marathon or at the least podium. That is what the Americans need to strive for. Unfortunately, the Americans are a long ways away, both the men and women from competing with the best in the world. By the way, I am a 70 year old marathoner who remembers the day when the Americans were among the best in the world.
