The media release described this musical coupling as:
“The co-founder of The Saints, Ed Kuepper joins forces with the brilliant interpretive drummer Jim White of the renowned instrumentalists Dirty Three, for the first time as they tackle 45 years’ worth of Kuepper’s catalogue with a twist that only these two game changers could apply.”
However, when Ed and Jim decided to team up for this tour, they could have had absolutely no idea how many starts and stops it would entail. After an initial postponement and then a cancellation, the Wollongong gig finally happen almost a year after the tour first started. The huge advantage of seeing them in Wollongong was the intimacy of the venue and being able to pick exactly where I wanted to sit.
There was a great selection of songs, covering Ed’s time with The Saints, Laughing Clowns, The Aints!, and of course, his solo career. Somewhat unintentionally, my selection in this video is heavily weighted towards his earlier years. Unfortunately, I missed capturing any of The Aints! songs:

‘Messin’ With the Kid’ was the fourth song of the night, and the first Saints number. It was only fitting that Ed should tip his hat to Chris Bailey who had died two weeks earlier.

Glad you liked it. It was a terrific night. So glad that Ed and Jim were able to finish this tour after all its initial stops and starts.

@@Peter_LiveMusic I saw these two in Sydney and Canberra - both awesome shows. I have a big appreciation for people who take the effort to do quality recordings and editing, rather than just dodgy phone videos.

@@BishopTheWonderDog I've always loved live music but it's only recently that I've started recording them. I started off a few years ago taking a couple of stills, more or less as 'souvenirs'. Then I thought I'd capture snippets of songs as the moment took me. I'd put these together as brief montages of the night. After I'd upload some of these to RU-vid, the most frequent comment was 'but we want the whole song'. These days I do as much research as possible before any gig, regarding the venue and possible setlist. I find I really enjoy the challenge of getting the best footage I can (within the limits of my non-professional equipment). And I'm also going to gigs I'd otherwise probably pass up on because I enjoy the videoing. Anyway, thanks for your kind words. I'm never really sure what the majority of people make of my videos. I do it principally because I like watching them again afterwards and for the creative element. I do occasionally get take down requests which is OK. But like you, I find it difficult to watch most of the phone footage that gets uploaded.

my tickets arrived today for the Sydney show. This seems like it was a great show. I know I've heard it 1.000 times but I hope he plays Electrical Storm. Always sounds great live. You do great work Peter. The video and audio are so clear. I don't know how you do it? Where you allowed to be close? When I used to try and record live shows (on a little Zoom recorder) ir rarely turned out well. Often very distorted. I never got the hang of it. Lots of Ed shows too.

I see you've added a little more to your comment. Sorry to disappoint you but he doesn't play "Electrical Storm". I would have liked to have heard it too. He and Jim seem to stick with the same songs each performance but they do change the order. The performance was in a very small hall. I booked very early and selected a seat towards the front but not the very front. I find the sound suffers if you are too close. I too use a small Zoom recorder. The camera's sound is too compressed. I normally combine them together. The Zoom often doesn't pick up the quiet sections very well, like the talking. I videoed The Aints! about two years ago. The sound on that is very disappointing. That was before I had the Zoom and right up front. I wish they'd play some more gigs.

@@Peter_LiveMusic no, unfortunately. Health issues over the past few years and covid have reduced my capacity to see gigs. Going to try to make amends going forward. I have seen Ed in various formations many, many times over the years. Some of my favourites were a residency he did in Newtown. At one point he even had Chris Bailey joining him for awhile. I had no idea Chris could play instruments. They were excellent shows.

@@francissreckofabian01 Sorry to hear about the health problems. I do hope you can get to see a few more gigs this year. Live music keeps me living. Those early Ed Kuepper concerts sound great.
