Nice reference, I bet the more pretentious Radiohead fans are too busy worshipping at the OK Computer alter your realize that songs from Pablo Honey just like Creep, HaHa
Edit: Statement revised! Radiohead are horrendous for copyright strikes on YT....I've had 4 remix/vids taken down then put back up!. Beggars Banquet slow bastards but I love you again!
I know, it's so weird! I mean, it looks like one of those million other tutorial videos out there for one of their easiest songs to play. But it's actually Ed from Radiohead. It's so unnecessacary, but I love it haha.
I don't think he forgot but acted like it because f word and it is a charity when this was published but I'm willing to pretend he actually forgot the words
This is promoting the charity organization One Million Guitars. A tutorial aimed partially towards the one million children who will soon be holding a guitar just like that, looking for easy songs to learn
He had to upload this from a proxy IP to get past him, Thom is currently chasing him down with the intent of eviscerating him. Truly dark times for Thom Yorke and the Radioheads.
Ed looks like your uncle Josh living in your parent's attic eating ramen noodles on a hot plate and learning how to play the guitar that he just won in a poker game.
I love how he's explaining the song in a way that makes it seem like a total beginner would play it. While the first thing he teaches is barre chords lol
At least the whole thing is barre chord, so you don't have to worry about switching in and out of one. Seems like a good song for a beginner to develop barre chord strength.
The reason why most Radiohead members are not very humorous is because Ed took all the good sense of humor for himself and left none for the rest of the band lol
thom and jonny are plenty lighthearted and humorous, just very soft spoken and reserved. ive heard phil and colin speak much less then the others but i imagine theyre similar as well.
I like to imagine the rest of the band are in their own separate rooms recording videos for their parts of the songs. Phil and Colin's are pretty straightforward, Johnny is silently smashing a guitar for the chorus lead in and Thom is just sobbing to the background noise of a ceiling fan.
Ed is the most unassumingly nice guy. He’s such a natural “cool teacher” type. If he wasn’t in one of the biggest bands in the world he could have really made something for himself doing this. Oh well.
@@thomasgrande201 Mate, that's Ed playing the arpeggios on the album. Jonny on lead, Thom on rhythm. So, yes; Thom is playing a guitar, but not the arpeggios. I'm not sure what you mean about 'made.' This is what's called a fact, and they're apparently rare these days because people walk around not knowing something (which isn't a bad thing) yet insisting they do know (this is the bad thing). And here I am, arguing online, which is somehow worse. Anyway, I'll leave you with yet another article snippet at the end of this comment. Cheers, and peace! "As the second guitarist in a band in which Jonny Greenwood usually plays lead guitar, it’s understandable how Ed O’Brien often falls off the radar in band discussions. And yet the steadiness of his playing is integral to the band’s success, because it allows Jonny to go off on his daredevil flights and sonic experiments knowing that the core of the song will remain strong. On “Street Spirit,” O’Brien’s steadiness becomes brilliance right before our ears, playing arpeggios that tug at the heartstrings with every clarion note. From there the rest of the song can be built, and yet, at the end, it comes back to the arpeggios once again, not quite fading out so much as bidding us a melancholy farewell (and bidding a farewell to The Bends as well.) Thom Yorke has spoken about the dark alleyways that his lyrics traverse here, as they alternate between desperate hope and resigned despair, despair getting the better of it. Some light creeps in as Yorke sings “Immerse yourself in love” at song’s end, piercing through the Gregorian chant backing vocals, but it’s fleeting. Through it all, those arpeggios persevere. In a way, they keep “Street Spirit (Fade Out)” from being too dark, melancholy as they may be. O’Brien’s playing presses on through it all, unwavering, courageous even, beckoning us to do the same, steady as we go."
I just love that he did this. There are kids out there just starting the guitar that would gain so much confidence from this lesson. I know because I was one once, who began learning nirvana songs.
The early 90s were such a great time for beginner guitar players, because so many of the popular songs had just a few easy chords, so you were encouraged to be able to play something that actually sounded a bit like a popular song, and you could impress a girl or two in your high school. Obviously that doesn’t really describe Radiohead at all (other than Creep and a few others), but Nirvana, Green Day, etc.? It was doable.
@@sappy2373 It's one of Radiohead's best songs regardless of any of our opinions....It has universal appeal and will continue to be a popular song for decades to come, unlike some of their more musically complex songs, which i prefer. I've been listening to them since '96 and you grow to love the simplicity & innocence of some of their early songs. Peace!
I feel like none of these young stans realize radio head are full blown mature adults now. Ed doesn’t give a shit about being cool haha I love this video
Imagine being eds son/daughter just walking past him in the spare room as Ed’s playing and singing creep to himself , as if to think you’ve written the genius music of OK COMPUTER but you’re singing 4 chord CREEP in the spare room like a child 🤣🤣😂
Lol 😂 i love you so much Ed... "Play what feels right from your heart".. i hope you doing well, thankyou for being such a great musician. With you and your band, it filled my life a lot with colours in my younger days... Thank you so much ❤️
"You got your G chord right here It's like your cozy house where you live That's where you start your journey Here I am in my house nice and cozy Then you poke your head out the door with a C chord Everything looks okay out here Maybe I'll take a walk outside to the D chord Oh walking around outside...look at all the stuff out here! And then we go to an A minor Getting a little cloudy out here Looking like we might have some weather Then we go to E minor Oh definitely got some weather Things are a little more complicated than they seemed at first...".
