Hello friend. I was frustrated with the scissors too. Here’s the trick. Pull out the scissors and once they clear the handle, open the blades all the way. Push them up and the back lock will click and engage the tension bar. Good luck
The little “nick” you mentioned as a wire stripper is not!!! Check out a set of replacement blades and you’ll see the “little nick” will not be present. The “v” in the can opener is for stripping the wire’s insulation. Thanks
I just bought a Used Leatherman Surge at a flee market for $10.00 yesterday. The can opener is broken, so I'll be having it replaced. Thanx for the video my Brother 👍 ⚔️ ✝️ 🇺🇲
Awesome thanks for watching!! I live in Saskatchewan canada so when I sent it to leatherman, it did take a month and a half, but have zero complaints about the time OR the service. It’s a great stand up company , that I absolutely love!! Thanks for the comment!
Nice review Sir. Surge is a Beast! I have EDC one for 6 years now. I use the Awl every day....a must for me. The Surge is the Best of all...and I own 35 MT's...
Thank you sir! Means a ton !! I’m glad there’s others out there that agree this is a must need EDC. lots of folks around where I live are opposed to it. Thanx again🤟👊🏻
@@woodentulike2no I was wondering how those were.. I thought it might be a little awkward with the surge. Nice to hear from an actual user about it. Might get one an try er out!
i have the same surge. i sent mine off for repair because i had snapped one of the plier jaws. yes it took a minute but on the bright side they went through the whole tool, lubed it, replaced other parts that had significant wear (even the tshank saw blade). best multitool ive owned so far, lots of versatility! i subbed ya too by the way!
Just to keep you informed... I came up with courage to send the surge for repair.... I am absolutely lost without it but like you say in the end it will be worth it. Thanx again for the advice, now I’m wearing the much much cheaper leatherman kick at my side. Makes me realize how versatile the surge is. Still gets me out of a pinch sometimes tho!
Wish I knew that, I just ordered the stainless instead of black, bc I was worried of wear on the coat over time. Now I know they’ll replace over the life 😢
Nice review. Been without a multi-tool for a couple of years now since I left my sidekick at a customers house and she decided to give it to one of her friends. Excited for the upgrade.
I had to send my Surge in for repair due to a loose interior tool lock. I ended up buying a second one so I wouldn’t have to be without it. They do a really good job on the repairs though. They replaced my screwdriver bit, the large flathead that had some wear, my scissors, and both knife blades. Cleaned and oiled too.
He's not wrong,I left st home once,an man,I totally felt naked an helpless, until my sis realized after dropping me off at work,an ran it out to me,I'm glad cause I needed it to cut some hard bail wire at work, man I'm glad she did
That can opener is the best manual can opener I have ever used. I own 6 leatherman tools plus the Surge. Try out the Crunch, I carry the crunch and surge on me at work. My Crunch never leaves my side, I dont even notice the weight.
Hi thanks for a good review. I edc surge all the time except on bed. Yes agree, can't send it away just for repair. I prefer the steel look over black oxide because I use it for food preparation also. I have wave plus & charge tti, have to say surge just much much more reliable. Every night before sleep I just flip over all external tool just to hear the loud locking sound, make me feel safe & ready to protect my family, just in case. anyway thanks for a great review
Hello guys please can someone help me ..... just bought a new surge but when it's fully closed the handles do not line up exactly... is this OK 👍🏻 and normal please guys ? ? ?
Hey there! Does the tool open and close properly? Smoothly? Everything operate nice? It is normal for it to be a little stiff when it’s brand new and will loosen up with time. If it’s not lining up, and the tool isn’t functioning properly I would return it to the store.
Great video! I use the same system of carry. I have a vertical sheath with both bit kits, extender and some Bosch saws I use on the job. Off the job I have a custom horizontal sheath. I highly recommend horizontal with tool only carry. You really forget it's there. When I'm off the clock I don't mind walking to the truck for a bit or extender. My vertical sheath is also custom leather. If you get a master leather craftsman you'll buy once, cry once. My grandson should be using the same cases and leatherman. SUBSCRIBED!!
Ya I had the very simple cheap kick for many years, and now that I’ve had the surge, I would never be able to get used to another model ever again. The most stressed I have ever been is if I go to take it out of the sheath and it’s not there haha. Thanks for the comment! And as always thanx for watching!!🤟
I can teach you a little trick it works for many, take a piece of metal rebar or something similar grab it with the needle nose pliers and smack it with a hammer and break the tip off. They’ll send you a new surge in less than 7 to 10 days worked For two people I know
Lol thanx for the tip.. I ended up sending the surge in about a month after shooting this video, and they sent it back within a month and they replaced not only the scissors , but everything else that was sorta worn out. Next time tho! Thanks for watching and commenting!!
i have leatherman surge black oxide that didn't last to me one time i used it to hit the nail and it broke, the black oxide is brittle than the white or stainless steel surge, i used leatherman for 15 years i suggest much better the stainless than black oxide
Ok awesome thanks!! I’m on my second black oxide now, and both screwdrivers broke on me within a few months. Maybe I’ll try the stainless, as I don’t think I could get used to any other model. I love this one way too much.
Thank you sir! I decided to send the ol surge back for warranty. I miss it every day, and am using the leatherman kick to replace it. Makes me sad everyone I go to use it😢
@@teachccd hey yes I got it back after about 3 months of waiting and the customer service was amazing. Not only did they replace the scissors, they replaced every single tool that had a little bit of wear on it. And I use my scissors very often now that they work!! My baby is working great again!
