It is very difficult to explain to young people just how revolutionary this music was at the time. Our parents fought us really hard over embracing Rock & Roll but the power of the Eddie Cochrans, Wanda Jacksons, Bill Haleys, Gene Vincents, the Elvis's on and on was just to great. Oh and I remember the announcement of Patsy Cline's death the same way I remember JFK's and RFK's. It is still very popular because it takes everyone back to a much simpler time.
Sorry My Friend, The Rock and Roll is the Best ... Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Bill Halley, Eddie, Fast Dominó, Little Richard, Chuck Berry, Budy Holly, ... etc. ALL, THE DREAM ´S TEMA OF THE ROCK AND ROLL
Awesome. I always think that if Eddie and Buddy Holly had lived, they would have contributed even more energy and innovation to the music of the Sixties.
Another great that we lost too soon. With all due respect to Elvis, Eddie Cochran was the coolest thing goin'. You can almost feel the joy come through the monitor. At that moment, with that self-assured smile, it looked like Eddie knew he had the right stuff; and was having the time of his life. And that sailor in the audience looked like he was in dire need of a laxative.
I saw him perform live in London. The guy was no poser. The only known movie clips of Eddie don't do him any justice. He was an awesome performer and a brilliant musician. He certainly will never be forgotten in my house.
What a performance and what a track!! This is live folks!! Eddie Cochran was/is the real deal. A total Legend with a capital L. Just imagine if he was still alive now....a man of his talent would have made incredible record after record after record...I love this track and summertime blues...RIP Eddie Cochran. You sadly passed away way too young...infact it would have been great if u were around forever making great music like this...Even in this short clip his charisma and presence is so strong
It's amazing that there is an actual live show of his to show what he really as like. I think what scared adults in the 50's about rock n roll what not just the music but the way people like Elvis and Cochran moved on stage.
rock n roll, rockabilly?call it what you like. fact is,this is a man experimenting at the beginning of rock, and yet,for all the changes, and titles of music, its NEVER got better than this! pure brilliant genius
Ta for posting. I think we can all surmise as to why he looks up to the heavens at the end of this performance. One of the true greats of music for young people - I haven't been one of those for a long time. But, as Eddie sings, 'Who Cares?'
I'm with you my friend. I defy anyone to listen to this and not want to dance - great tune from the great days of r & r. RIP Eddie. What else might he have done for us if he hadn't died so young....
never forget my dad telling me off for leaving my 'headbanger' music too loud in HIS car when i borrowed it, but yet when i got in his car i'd hear this pumping out at full volume when i turned the key lol Eddie Cochrane! what a star!
dislike-button should be deleted or remove from classic, awesome songs like this. this song can't be disliked, this man is a legend. no wait, this isn't a song. this is a masterpiece!! ♥
bishopaz You have good taste! I went to Elvis' house in 1971 as an escort for a lady rock writer, and I got to meet Elvis, who was a nice guy, but I didn't care for some of people around him because they where just using Elvis. Eddie is my favourite rocker of all time!
TONE B HURT Ah, i hate everything fro mliek 1990 to now. Im 16 man. My dad luckily showed me rock n roll when I was 8 so I wasnt brain washed by todays stuff that much. I do find music even from the 1860's to be interesting, but Im in band as well so I love a lot of music.. You show appaeciativeness to things when you know how hard something is to paly or so and how much skill it was to write a peice so nice... But I would never listen to classical music on my iphone or anyith,ng just 1950s-1980s rock
At the time of his passing, he was here in the UK on tour with Gene Vincent. he had made the statement that he would no longer tour but concentrate on producing taking a similiar road to Buddy Holly, who of course he was great friends with. So if that was to be the case we will never know. However we are left with so many memories of these great artists thanks to all who post these great clips
This aired exactly thirty-five years prior to my existence! Best pre-birthday gift ever! In all seriousness, I like how the piano is more prominent in this variation. It's cool to see a piece of recorded history in motion. :D
How wonderful to see such evocative archivefootage.Iwas lucky enough to see Eddie live in 1960.His guitar playing that night was electrifing! No one had played like that before!
Another of our great singers that we lost at such an early age. Being this good and popular, just imagine what he would have become if he was still with us.
I just love listening to Rock and Roll, which influenced my life. Eddie's music has made me go to university. In the future, I will write full time, novels. I love all forms of old rock music because it captures life in a positive, or makes me think deeper about life ! There are so many stories to be told! That's how society grows!
I just love these really tight progression old 50s songs. Come On Everybody (Key of E: 1E-4A-5B) keeps my attention, never a dull moment from beginning to end. Great song!!!
I am an old man, but Eddie still reminds me of my youth and music also thank him for it.I have all his songs and I thank everyone who you like it Sorry my English. skurda
Its good to see the great clips associated with the classics they play on radio, we have not seen these for years and in many cases never seen them before. keep up the great posts guys.
The most talented rocker of his era and true Father of Rock Music. Top 10 reasons why this guy is -arguably- the most underrated musician of all time: - Best guitarist of his time (hands down) - Musical pioneer - Brilliant composer and producer - He could really play guitar, bass, piano and drums - Evolved guitar technique (riffs, two strings soloing, etc) - Evolved studio recording techniques - He could play naturally any style (blues, country, jazz, classic, rock and roll, etc) - He established the basics of rock guitar - Only white guy who could actually play the blues - He died when he was only 21 years old The guy even had the time to perform in three movies. A true genius and a very nice and humble person. Even Jimi Hendrix himself considered on of his main inspirations. Respect. Nothing else to add.
No way, Eddie was a natural performer just being himself not showboating as much as Elvis, he could sing well and played the guitar like a champ.. Rest in peace Eddie, you will never be forgotten.
Eddie Cochran was an original Rock and Roll pioneer. He was shadowed by the greats of the 1950s such as Johnny Cash and Elvis Presley. Eddie might not have been as popular as Elvis or Cash but he helped pave the way for Rock and Roll just as much as they did in their time. With songs like “C’mon Everybody”, “Something Else”, and “Summertime Blues” Eddie Cochran was creating some of the greatest tunes of the 1950s. In his songs he captured the teenage frustration and desire of the 1950s
Eddie has been gone 48 years today. I like the way he raises is eyes to the ceiling at 1:40, Buddy must have been looking down that day, it was the day of his funeral. RIP Eddie, thanks for the music.
i'm sixteen and everyone around my age hate that i listen to this awesome genre. but new songs aren't even close this kind, when you can make a song without mixing it in a computer then you are a real singer. everyone ho agrees thumbs up :D
I had this song on vinyl back in the '70's. My Dad had all of Eddie's albums, and he gave them to me to listen to. Little portable record player from the '70's... Ahh, those were the days. :)
Old Rocker.Ludlow.UK.Eddie was up there with Elvis and Buddy, wrote his own songs, brilliant on guitar, popular to day as ever.Sharon and Eddie together forever.
