You said he must have been inspired by elvis, but actually that style of singing and dress was common back then, and it's still around today, though it is underground. Other similar artists include Warren smith, gene vincent, Billy fury, Carl perkins, little Richard, buddy holly, etc.
No he was better and really going to be a massive star if he hadnt been killed . Eddie was an all rounder . He played great guitar . Piano . Bass drums etc and could sing and wrote songs . He was major in the music world . Even hendrix said he wanted Summertime blues at his funeral !!!
@@andrewandreas2063 While that may be true. Eddie Cochran developed his own unique style and his sound was his own. Just as Elvis' had his own unique sound. You know different flavors of ice cream... That's what Little Richard, Chuck Berry, Fats Domino, Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, Buddy Holly, Gene Vincent and Eddie Cochran brought to Rock & Roll... their own unique style & sound.
i am not saying eddie copy elvis you are right they had their own style but it was through elvis he changed same as buddy holly which he personally thanked elvis
Check out Eddie singing 20 Flight Rock in The Girl Can’t Help It…this was his closest performance to Elvis although he was of course great in his own right.
Eddie is the man . He changed music forever !! He inspired so many . T.Rex . Rory Gallagher. Brian Setzer . The who . The beatles even watched him and george harrison used to follow him around shows !!! He brought Rock to the Uk !!! There will never be anyone like Eddie . He could sing and play many instruments and also a great song writer . Dont anyone ever knock Eddie !!! The guy died aged 21. Can you imagine being at the height of your career and life only to be killed . Everyone ive ever met said Eddie was the nicest guy you would ever meet . Elvis was great . But Eddie had been to Australia . Canada . The Uk etc . So he did it all. The guy is a legend a real legend . Not the fake bullshit we get today!! Eddie was Something else
eddie had everything - the looks, they guitar skills, writing skills, the voice.. everything. next time i'm in the UK i have to visit the site he untimely passed away... sadly missed kid, rip eddie
sodapop Exactly these lads haven’t got a clue eddie had more talent than elvis! “ I went to my congressman and he said he said quote “ i’d love to help you son but you’re too young to vote!” Bob dylan used words like that 10 years after.
BrosReact015, While Elvis was in the army for 2 years Eddie Cochran and Gene Vincent were just so big. Eddie Cochran and Gene Vincent started their U.K. tour February 1960. In the audience ( in Liverpool) was John Lennon, Paul McCartney and George Harrison. April 16th, in a car going to Heathrow Airport Eddie was killed and Gene was very badly hurt, when their car was involved in a pile-up. Cheers, Chris Perry.
Eddie Cochran was a fantastic guitarist and played on more songs for other artists than his own songs as a studio musician. He was a multi-instrumentalist. Guitar, Ukulele, drums, piano. He was also an experimenter in sound and very demanding in the way he arranged his music. In sound he was ahead of his time. And what a unique and singular voice. He could play many musical styles with great ease. Rock'n'roll, blues, jazzy, Country... B B king had the opportunity to jam with Eddie and Lowell Fulson. He would later pay a beautiful tribute: "The only white artist capable of playing the blues with skill and feeling was Eddie Cochran." He perfectly mastered all the techniques of the right hand to play the guitar both with a pick or with finger picking like his mentor Chet Atkins. He deserves to be rediscovered and recognized in his own country because he had immense talent. But his tragic death in a taxi accident during a triumphant tour in England prevented him from becoming an established artist in his own country, the USA. But he left his mark in the world of rock'n'roll. He was only 21 years old.
He was more than Elvis with an edge. He could actually play the guitar and play lead guitar. And other than some standard covers most of the songs he wrote himself Elvis did not do that. He's an icon to me I love rockabilly music.
Hey, guys -Check out Eddie in the 1956 film "The Girl Can't Help It"! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-f8Vfin7mqdw.html BTW: They're REAL, lol!

Eddie Cochran saw Elvis when he decided to take on the voice of rock'n'roll. Afterwards, he quickly detached himself from Elvis' style. But listen to his instrumental "Hammy blues". On the first break, the beginning is exactly like the beginning of the solo of "Too much" an Elvis song. And I say this all the more easily because I am an unconditional admirer of Eddie Cochran who was a unique and singular singer. And a fantastic guitarist.
More like Elvis was influenced by Gene, who was a rockabilly star when Elvis was still driving a truck. My aunt, who was a professional roller skater all over the country, met both Gene and Elvis and said Gene was the most handsome man she ever met, much better looking than his photos, and that's saying something.
No Elvis recorded "that's alright mama" on August 21st 1954 August 21, 1954. "Bebop a Lula" was recorded on May 4, 1956. Don't reverse the course of history. Elvis was the locomotive and all the other pioneers of rock'n'roll the wagons which were attached to the wave caused by the King Non Elvis a enregistré "that's alright mama" le August 21st 195421 Août 1954 .
If you want a testament to how good Eddie Cochran was, The Who covered this song and they rarely did any covers and The Who never covered Elvis. Eddie had more talent and originality he can actually play lead guitar and write songs. Elvis can strum a guitar and sing songs.
Actually Elvis could play a lot of instruments…rhythm guitar on all the Sun and early RCA stuff, bass guitar (it’s him playing on Baby, I Don’t Care as Bill Black couldn’t get to grips with his new bass guitar), Elvis also played lead guitar on much of the ‘68 Comeback Special in the round sets, piano (see his last tv special In Concert) and drums!!!
@@MemphisFlash84 Summertime Blues is one of the most covered songs there is because of how its played. Its a very simple song with LOTS of room for embellishments. To see how far it can go, Brian Setzer is the gold standard. He out Eddie's Eddie ... you definitely owe ot a listen. And his outfit, epic.
I'm getting that you's haven't a clue to what your on about! No offence but this isn't about trying to put food on your plate (as you put it) this is about teenage rebel in 1950's America & getting enough money to get you & the girlfriend through the weekend having a great time. About being influenced by the great Elvis ..... Many were influenced but how many wrote their own music & produced it ....... Elvis didn't but the likes of Eddie Cochran, Buddy Holly wrote their own music & influenced many of today's bands.
