I saw your comment, and so I just wanted to say as a listener, I'm so glad your Dad played the way he did, and for how long! I know that's miniscule consolation, but just know that his music makes people happy, even after his passing. God Bless, and Merry Christmas. I know this record makes mine a merrier one!

Shell, I had the great honor to meet your father in Sacramento about 11 years ago when he met and talked also to my wife, who is from Japan. He especially mentioned Unagi (grilled eel), and he said it was his favorite Japanese food! He was such a kind man, and such an INCREDIBLY gifted piano player. A jazzman's jazz player. So, so underrated. You should be very, very proud. One of jazz's alltime greats.

I've always loved jazz piano, but only discovered your father two years ago. Since then, though, he has been my absolute favourite artist. There is something so warm in his music, and so accessible. It's a shame that there are only two videos on this platform, but they both show a happy man. I would love to have met him (I'm in the UK), and am sure that he was an absolutely wonderful dad

I met Eddie Higgins at a cocktail party in Ann Arbor, Michigan back in the 1990s. He was nice enough to talk to me about all of his work with so many jazz greats over his career. He was a marvelous musician and a real gentleman. Meeting and talking with him was a genuine privilege. You had a terrific Dad, Shell.

I was listening to Guaraldi’s xmas album . When it was done, the next offering was Mr Higgins. To me, its sounds very comparable to Guaraldi’s. The only difference is that VG’s group used the brush on the drums on many tunes. Higgins group doesn’t. Still enjoying Higgins music!

Love the intro to Sleigh Ride, a little bizzare Jingle Bells, a bit of Prokovief's Troika, and cantering into Sleigh Ride. Genius.

The first time I heard this cd was on a Southwest plane before take off last year. I asked the flight attendant who this was and she told me. I found it on RU-vid last year and played it all during Christmas time. Finally purchased it this year.

I heard his real play at Kesennuma ( Small City in Miyagi Pref.Tohoku, Japan) about 15 years ago. Yes, before The Great East Japan Earthquake 2011. I'm happy to hear his nice Christmas Jazz at my PC and knew that he past way in 2009 today.

13:25 God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen - this arrangement is AMAY-ZING!! So awesome. Intro. is classical, traditional -then the combo kicks in and so the verse arrangement so impressive. Definitely giving Mr. Higgins a high place in my jazz playlist and exploring his non-Christmas stuff. A new favorite for sure!!! Thanks for sharing this!!

I adore this album! I always had it playing in my car around Christmas until my cd player went crazy and destroyed it. :( But I am glad this video exists. I love playing this album. It creates just the right atmosphere I want to have around Christmas!

Just remembered I have this album so will put it on my CD player. I also have a lot of his other albums. I did like the comparison between he and Beegie Adair as she is also another favorite of mine.
