Without Ronnie - at best - this is a mediocre Eddie Money song, and the video would be absolutely lame. With her, it’s awesome. Thanks Eddie, for finding her back then in the 80’s and introducing her to an entirely new generation. That was a very cool move.
RIP Ronnie Spector (August 10, 1943 - January 12, 2022), aged 78 And RIP Eddie Money (March 21, 1949 - September 13, 2019), aged 70 You both will be remembered as legends.
RIP ♥️ 🙏 to both legend s that was the real time music . It will never be like those good times I was born in 84 and my name is Ronnie much luv too all 👍♥️🙏
Hahaha yup. His facial expressions and his rock n roll antics crack me up. I always feel like I’m watching Saturday night live episode from back in the day
@@TheGeenat That's one of the things that made Eddie so endearing, that he didn't take himself too seriously. He was one of the class acts of the business, RIP.
Had my nieces over a few weeks ago and they were confused by my record collection. We spent the next few hours listening to it while we went over some photo albums and I told them about how much their mom loved going to the roller rink. My sister called to tell me I'd created a pair of monsters.
I was 12 years old and one of my dad’s friends asked me what my favorite song is. I told him this song. He laughed and said you won’t remember Eddie Money within a year. Here I am 50 years old and still loving this banger!!! Piss on you Mr. McCullogh.
The other two songs that were hits in the late 1970's but this one tops them both. I have heard it several times and thought it was great. I wondered who owned the girls' voice in the background it was a great mix. I forgot that she also passed away as well. I just found out it was Ronnie Spector. Oh yeah Eddie Money was fantastic in the brief saxaphone solo.
You really had to be there to understand what it meant to see Ronnie actually in the video. She was our parents girl & they were so glad to see her still standing.Whoever wrote the treatment for this video was a genius building up to her finally popping up on screen.Eddie is tuning up his sax waiting for Ronnie to walk in 💔R.I.P to both legends 😍
@@micanikko well basically Eddie brought Back Roonie to the industry, one phone call and she went from a retired singer turned housewife, to a come back sensation, she even made a record called "un finish business" after this great song came out.
This song just proves three things, 1. Eddie Money was one of the most underrated solo artists 2. The saxophone is never a bad instrument to use 3. Ronnie was one of the best, rest in peace Ronnie and Eddie
@@firebladex8586 Trolls know everything and seriously if your so convicted to what you write here your doing a poor job convincing people otherwise since you know who actually goes to hell and who does not
30 here and same, I was kid 6 out of TOO MANY 😂 back when having more than 15 kids was common and we got our asses whooped for fucking up and the street lights were our sign to get home
@@ashleyburford7032 straight up! Lol these kids have it way different now! Even raising your voice at your child may be considered child abuse depending on who they tell 😂
Yes. Very true. It was sad to hear that these 2 legends died. However, always look up. Because they are always looking down on us. ALWAYS. R.I.P Ronnie Spector and Eddie Money. We love you.
And one of the most important historical musical moments of all time. Ronnie coming out of the darkness both figuratively and metaphorically, and back into the light after over a decade of unspeakable abuse. Eddie had the biggest balls to take on Phil Spector at that time.
Yes! I loved the 70s. Yet I felt at the time the late 60s and early 70s were the best. They still are! Yet in retrospect, that sound of the 80s cannot be bested! :-)
RIP Ronnie & Eddie. Was a kid when I first heard this song. Absolute magic. I think it is sheer genius the way this song incorporates the Be My Baby original
That woman was 43 years old at the time, she looked amazing! 🔥 Eddie didn't care for the song, but he did it for Ronnie. And it helped him as well, reviving both their careers
From the husky voice of Ronnie to the crushed-velvet croon of Eddie, from the slick synth playing to the pounding drums, from the lush sax to the hypnotic guitar, this song transcends mere "classic" status. It's a bloody brilliant piece of rock-craft. And despite being almost 40 years old, it still packs as much of a kick to the jaw now as it did back then.
Listening to this again on January 12, 2022, after hearing about Ronnie's passing, and imagining them singing this together in heaven. (3:21) seems such a fitting shot now. She's been taken home. R.I.P. Veronica "Ronnie" Bennett Spector August 10, 1943 -- January 12, 2022). R.I.P. Edward "Eddie Money" Mahoney (March 21, 1949 -- September 13, 2019).
RIP Ronnie Spector and Eddie Money, who collaborated on one the all-time best ‘80s songs. I hope you’re rocking out together-maybe with a sax?- somewhere.
16 years old but I am still so grateful to have a grandfather that exposed me to this golden era of music. If I could time travel, I would 🤘 R.I.P Eddie
I think everyone would lol. The 80s and 90s were of a time alot of stuff and tech was starting to happen. Everyone that lived through it may not even have noticed but looking back now it's crazy. It also was a much simpler time
That's true sabrina the music industry won't even allow good content to make it unless it pushes somehow this new ridiculous agenda , we can always keep the real stuff alive nobody's stopping us freewill !
True artists leave a part of themselves in their work, especially in the music industry. Legends like Eddie Money, Tom Petty, etc. will live forever through their work. So long as there are those who will listen...
This song never gets old. This is Money’s greatest hit. The Music Video says it all. I love the build up of Ronnie in the silhouette as you only hear her voice. When she shows up, it is a highlight that she is still as beautiful as she was 30 some years ago then in 1986. RIP to both Eddie and Ronnie. You may still be gone but you will always be missed.
I would love to go back in your Time Machine and I am always going back in time! I totally agree with you! I am a woman, but I love how Ronnie shines through the darkness and is highlighted in this song in a beautiful silhouette. Eddie looks hot, and I always love him and his voice. Eddie had much musical talent, (God I love him playing saxophone) and I love all of the songs, and I love this duet!❤️
I feel a hunger, it's a hunger That tries to keep a man awake at night Are you the answer? I shouldn't wonder When I feel you with my appetite With all the power you're releasing It isn't safe to walk the city streets alone Anticipation is running through me Let's find the key and turn this engine on I can feel you breathe I can feel your heart beat faster Take me home tonight I don't want to let you go 'til you see the light Take me home tonight Listen honey, just like Ronnie sang, "Be my little baby" I get frightened in all this darkness I get nightmares I hate to sleep alone I need some company, a guardian angel To keep me warm when the cold winds blow I can feel you breathe I can feel your heart beat faster Take me home tonight I don't want to let you go 'til you see the light Take me home tonight Listen honey, just like Ronnie sang, "Be my little baby" Be my little baby Just like Ronnie sang, just like Ronnie sang "Be my little baby, baby my darling" I feel a hunger, it's a hunger Take me home tonight I don't want to let you go 'til you see the light Take me home tonight Listen honey, just like Ronnie sang, "Be my little baby" Take me home tonight I don't want to let you go 'til you see the light Take me home tonight Listen honey, just like Ronnie sang, "Be my little baby" Take me home tonight I don't want to let you go 'til you see the light Take me home tonight Listen honey, just like Ronnie sang, "Be my little baby" Take me home tonight I don't want to let you go 'til you see the light Take me home tonight
I get goosebumps watching this video! Ronnie strutted like no other! Her voice was powerful & she always looked fabulous! Eddie & Ronnie are now rocking in heaven! RIP ❤️
It wasn't just her voice.. she was something special. There was this guy John that met her and he fell head over heels in love. Of course Ronnie literally belonged to Phil Specter at the time. So it was over before it started. John was sad and decided to go "all in" when he met a conceptual artist in London several months later. The young artist's name was Yoko. Yoko Ono. The rest is history.
I will always be a product of the 80's. No matter how successful and interesting I am in my 50,s, now, I will never be as cool as I thought I was in 1986...
Both of them are gone now. Eddie Money and Ronnie Spector. They both sang on one of the greatest songs of the 80's, and in my opinion, one of the greatest songs of all time. Take Me Home Tonight. Love it. May both Ronnie Spector and Eddie Money rest in peace.
I can remember when i worked at six flags in the 80's and when i was off of work we goto the arcade and play games and listen to the jukebox and this was playing alot..
I sang with this wonderful man in 1986 at USA Sam's in N. Syracuse, N.Y. when they were on the "Can't hold back tour". Won a contest and sang this song with him. Highlight of my life. RIP Eddie💜
I never knew, until now, that this song was singing about the song - Be My Baby - The Ronettes (with the lead singer Ronnie Spector singing in both songs!) Both are nostalgic classic songs. 😀
I was a teenager living in a dinky farming town in North Dakota when this came out and I LOVED IT!! While everyone else was listening to country, I was singularly listen to this type of music. It really has sentimental meaning to me… RIP Ronnie and RIP Eddie
She had such a beautiful voice, what a shame they didn't give her a few lines to make this song longer, that would've been GLORIOUS. Rest in peace Eddie and Ronnie.
