Taron Egerton and Hugh Jackman have just put Eddie The Eagle's life on to the big screen, and the real-life ski jumper loves it! Report by Jonny Nelson. Test
@@thebakeosaurusrex8361 I am the grammar Gold Medalist. A European would appreciate being corrected in grammar, but an American would not, LOL! xD When people correct my grammar or vocabulary, I thank them, because they have taught me something new. BTW, it is you're, not your, haaaa! xD
I watched the movie last night and realised why Eddie couldn't go as far as the other jumpers. You see, the extra weight and aerodynamic drag of his gigantic balls was holding him back.
i was 27 the year of the Olympics and I only remember 2 things about them. Eddie the Eagle and the Jamaican bobsled team. Too bad his own country ridiculed him for trying in the beginning, but he turned out the be a hero for the UK. Way to go Eddie!
You have establishment there in UK who treats people from lower classes like if it was still Middle Age. No surprise Eddie got helped only from Americans and the nobility from the British Olympic committee always declined him.
Real-life Eddie seems like such a sweet, kindhearted person. He deserves all the love and support in the world! Best wishes to you, Eddie. You're a legend!
An extremely uplifting movie, very well portrayed characters. I remember Eddie, and as some professional athlete said, Do you remember who took gold? No!!! While that is sad in itself, it is fitting. Eddie was an inspiration to many while so many were interested in winning, Eddie knew he had no hope of winning but still played his part..Someone always has to come last, Eddie made the best of the journey! Don't miss this movie. it's great!
evilTaker90V2 I remember Eddie vividly yet can't recall who won gold. Sure, some know who won gold, but I'm confident more viewers of the time, like me, recall Eddie more than the gold medal winner
yes I remember Eddie but i dont recall who got gold at all, he made a massive impression on me as a kid, I was 7 when he went to Calgary the first time, was like wow
Frank Cohen Matti Nykänen won the gold, and two other golds. Matti is one of the most successful ski jumpers of all time. I like Eddie, but people only remember him because he was so bad yet likeable, and the only ski jumper from Britain to attend the Olympics to this day. I remember someone saying the other jumpers got mad at him because they thought he didn't deserve the attention he got, because you know, he sucked. Matti however wasn't one of them, Eddie said that Matti was always polite towards him
evilTaker90V2 matti sounded like an awesome dude,Must be a national legend back in his home,Thats was awesome of him on the way up in the lift👌 much respect,Shows what kind of person he was right there 👍
I really admire Eddie Eagle, not for his results, but because he represented the true spirit of the Olympics - "The important thing in life is not the triumph but the struggle" - (Pierre de Coubertin). We really need more "eagles" in the olympics that lift the Olympics to the skies...
Eddie, I lived in Calgary in 1988 and was home sick with mono, so I watched every minute of those Games. You were never a joke to the audience; you were the heart of the Games. (You, and the Jamaican bobsleigh team.) We always love to root for the underdog, so we'd give you a standing ovation over other ski jumpers. You were the extra-large heart and soul of the Games that year.
I never as a kid took him seriously.Saw a program on telly which showed his determination and courage which shamed me. Saw the film and cried for the hero few get to be.He was recognised as "our eddie"and the country gathered round a true hero.
He was the classic unlikely hero, just an ordinary lad who had a dream and didn't care if he lost, he just wanted to do it. I watched him at the Olympics and was proud of him, he stuck to it and lived his dream, celebrated by this marvellous film. Well done Eddie The Eagle.
+paul nodalo Totally agree. Instant favourite of mine. I saw it for the first time alone last Friday, watched it with my friends on Saturday because I loved it so much, then watched it with my family again on Sunday! Wonderful film!
Loved the movie and love it even more now knowing what a genuinely great person this man is. How many people in his position can say they have a achieved what he has achieved? Simply amazing!
Eddie the Eagle was my hero, and still is. The people who criticized him totally miss the point of the Olympics in the first place. Thanks for the courage Eddie, then and now.
I don't think I've ever seen all positive comments for a RU-vid video before (as of now anyway). Just watched the movie. Eddie's a legend. Good on ya mate. What an inspiration
this is the first movie that really made me feel something , and i really feel so happy for him it's a motivation story about following ur dreams and never giving
"I've been jumping for 20 months when I went to the Calgary Olympics. Everybody else there have been jumping for 20 years, so there was no way that I was gonna beat anybody. But for me, getting there was my gold medal." -Michael "Eddie The Eagle" Edwards
You know when a movie is so good, you have to youtube the background of it, especially if its based on a real time hero haha. That's what im doing now #eagle
yes lol, I remember watching him in the olympics when i was a kid and thinking wow, he really flew and loved the cool runnings reference :) was a great film, made me tear up with his dads negativity towards him and his perseverance ;)
I never seen any movie that inspired me and affect me. Thanks you Eddie Edwards And the director and all the crews that make this movie. This is the best movie I ever seen so far.
This was a wonderfully done film---and I am old enough to remember standing in my livingroom in Las Vegas, Nevada cheering on Eddie the Eagle! His accomplishment was fantastic then, and this is a wonderful, wonderful replay of those moments. I can't name a lot of Olympic medalists but will ALWAYS remember Eddie and his joy when he landed. Awesome experience all around!
Just watched the film! 1. What a brilliant movie. The final jump is a pure mouth open, heart stopping moment of cinematic joy. 2. Eddie the Eagle: what a legend! Ski jumping surely has to be one of the scariest things that man can do. Period. And Eddie just comes from nowhere and fulfills an Olympic dream through sheer grit and determination while fighting the ridicule of all those who thought he was mad. Incredible story, incredible man.
Eddie along with the Jamaican Bob sledders, were the highlights of the '88 Olympics in Calgary, Alberta. I'm rather upset that I didn't know about this movie until now. I am so happy that he got to have his story told, and I really look forward to seeing it. Thanks Eddie for being amazing, and you were a star in Calgary, even if the press were trying to bring you down. Calgarians loved you!! Thank you for being part of our history. Xo
Eddie - you made thousends of peolple grab a chance - not to be affreid - you are lovebale and humble.......people will talk about your for centruies to come! you made your mark - and we are all proud of you. From me......thank you very much ...you helped me so much !
A fantastic film about a really great guy. Once you see the view from the top of those different jump ramps, you realize just how brave/crazy anyone must be to intentionally launch themselves down them. Eddie is a real character and I am glad I got to see this film.
I watched the Olympic Winter Games, especially ski jumping and Biathlon when I was young. I don't know who jumped for my country. I don't know who won the event. I do know Eddie the Eagle and never wanted to miss his jumps. Everybody loved Eddie for him being him, for his courage, for his defiance of the standard, and not for the athletic performance performance. The movie about Eddie the Eagle took me back in time and he should be an example for anybody who is chasing his dreams.
It's really cool to see this cause in the old footage of Eddie it kinda looks like he's not all there or missing a few marbles, but this shows that he's a very well spoken smart normal guy. So watching the old footage now I can see that he's just a kid who's probably just nervous and excited to be at the Olympics and on camera or something. So yeah it's cool to see a different side of Eddie. Great movie too.
Eddy to me you are the greatest Olympic athlete ever! Your perseverance is unparalleled! You are an inspiration to many people! I live in the Netherlands but I am as proud as a peacock of you! I also had to swallow tears when I saw the movie. I hope you are well you are a true Olympian you gave 100% and not every Olympian can say that!! ❤❤❤❤🙏🏻😃🥂🍾✊🏻✊🏻✊🏻✊🏻
Congrats Eddie your such a big inspiration to lots of people. I know your probably not going to read this but you a big inspiration. When I watched the film it made me realise how much effort and hard work you put in to accomplish your dreams it really does make people think about about the effort you put in. Thank you for being an inspiration.😊♥️
Hey Eddie, I saw the movie on the weekend and I have to say that it was one of the most enjoyable movies I have ever seen. More power to you it's an inspiration for all us underdogs. God bless

Please people if anything you can learn from this lovely man that's to be positive to all people and one's self,..100% fantastic feel good film,..loved it!
If the film is 100% correct and true to the story, then yes I agree, Eddie is a legend. At the very least, he is a decent guy who is just enjoying life. Take note all professional sports people!
