This is a little 5 minute teaser promo for our upcoming concert celebration of the life and music of Eddie van Halen, on May 19th 2022. We shot and recorded this at a production rehearsal a few months back as we started preparing for the show.

Daly Custom Designs "5150 tribute" ( dalycustomdesigns)
Steinberger
Guitar recording chain:
Suhr SL68 Plexi 100W head - Fryette Power Load I.R for cab sim (so no mics needed on the cabs that day). - Eventide H3000 - Lexicon MPX-1 - straight to 3 channels on mixing desk for "wet/dry/wet".
Guitar pedals: MXR Flanger off stage operated by guitar tech.
Simmons Drum samples:
Roland TM 6 Pro
Triggers on toms:
Roland RT 30HR
All other processing, including vocal, done during the mix in ProTools.

The devil is in the detail, this guy is the devil. Best EVH I have ever heard. I saw VH 8 times and Ed was under the influence every time. Eddie was still better even under the influence than the best on their best night. This guy is the guy the reunion should consider, if that ever happens.

I need to simply say that im flabbergasted! How have i not known of you until now? Growing up in Newstead and being too much of "an Ostrich" perhaps. Anyway, your understanding ( light years from mere mimicry ) of E.V.H. is a: Jaw dropping and b: more impressively so obviously coming from a place of deep reverence. So...THANK YOU. 'Nuff said!

The thing I most appreciate about Simon's playing is the feel. He is technically great, but without the feel, it's stale. Really enjoyed all the singers as well. And the bottom end of drums/bass

@@SimonHosford amazing! I love it. May I ask, regarding your performance of the VHI record, are you running a standard Super Lead? I've got a plexi with 6550 power tubes/12ax7 preamp tubes and I just can't get close to the tone.

@@nicholascaven Actually Nicholas, on the VH1 gig I was using a Kemper. Although Plexi wise, In my experience what kind of tubes don't tend to make a massive difference. Are you turning all the knobs on your Plexi up to 10 and plugging in to the the top left input? If it's still not gainy enough, try using an EQ pedal into the amp also, and boosting only the mid frequencies, that can give you a little more gain without really changing the sound of the amp.

Well i'm not Tommy Emmanuel... but i'm in mixing, mastering, playing guitar and chasing tones and - as i told you some times ago - your touch and TONE are the only real celebration of the innovative ART of guitar playing of Eddie i ever seen on YT! The mood, the intention, the enthusiasm... everything is THAT! BUT... not just like a simply boring "clone"... but with a real pleasing musical interpretation! Absolutely f***ing GREAT Man!

@@SimonHosford you (and your friends) absolutely deserve what i've written! The reason i mentioned that i'm in ( not professionally... but... if may i say... like as a semi-pro) those musical things is only because i don't want sound like a simple EVH fan-boy. I started to play guitar at 9 and now i'm 58 and i KNOW how hard is to chasing a specific TONE and the right mood to play those stellar artist's songs nailing the "deep soul" of the song without being a simply carbon-copy! You play just that way!

Hi Simon. When you played with LRB you owned a mint green Stratocaster looking guitar with a pearled pick guard. You ripped it up and the sound you had from that guitar was crazy great. Who makes that guitar...Thank you from a 70 yr. old player.....Mike

Ive seen em all , even the best cover bands and you are next level man. I am 55, and ive been a fan since 1980,...and you sound even better than ED live. Honestly, we all know he was messed up most of the time and while it was raw "crazy",....you play note for note, and your sound is amazing. I loved the Van Halen debut album video. Wish there was way more of you on here,...im in US.
