I don't think the emotions of joy and pain this movie/book portrayed could have been captured in song any better than with Eddie's voice. Still love this album and still dig the movie and book years later.
He could have lived much more if it wasnt for his recklessness. Great movie, but not a good example of character for anybody. Lousy attitude of him, that made his loved ones suffer.
This movie was pretty fantastic. One of my favorite scenes was the one where the older guy says goodbye to Chris and the older guy starts crying. Made me cry. Powerful scene. Powerful movie. Powerful message.
The old fella realized he'd never see him again. Maybe that's why he shed his tears... Anyway, what a movie, just in awe what Sean Penn, Emile Hirsch and all the other were able to give to us....
The old man tried to save him but knew Chris had ambition and zest for life that he didn’t when he was going what did as a young man. Losing his family. Being isolated can do a lot to your mind.
Dois anos ele caminha pela terra. sem telefone, sem piscina, sem animal de estimação, sem cigarros. Liberdade Definitiva. Um extremista. Um viajante estético cujo lar é a ESTRADA.
I watched the movie many times. It still makes me cry. My wife and I went to north Idaho. It was like his journey. I lived in a log cabin. A real log cabin built from the bottom up. In the old way. Logs from the land.
Hal Holbrook also one of my favourite character actors. No matter if it was in "All the president's men" or in "The fog" .... He always nailed his role ...
Sad, powerful, and tragic, in my opinion. He needed to draw a line in the dirt somewhere. I am glad we can learn from his adventure and mistakes. We all go through life learning and making mistakes. I get why he through a promising career and grad school away. Find life as it is meant to be lived. He should have listened to the mentors he associated with along the way, though. Still, he lived a very full life. I am glad to read the book and to have seen the film many years ago. The soundtrack is just dynamite. IT reminds me of Dave Matthews solo album from around the same time. Both were favorites of the time. Sean Penn knows how to select stories of interest. His Secret Life of Walter Mitty was a gem.
Hello there, thanks for all the comments! I discovered that a channel named "Fine Folk Music" stolen this video (six years ago), and has millions views. I know that I don't have the rights of the music and movie, but I spent time making this video and some dude taked and posted in his channel.
Amazing movie!! Life isn't about just earning money... Its about enjoying the beauty of nature and having new experiences. And an important msg from the movie : Happiness only real when shared. :-)
When you forgive you love and when you love Gods light shines on you.In the end he had forgiven his father and was at peace with himself .The light shining on him just before he died was God.
This song reminds me of one of the guys I used to talk to. We really bonded over this movie/soundtrack. It was like we were soulmates. We didn’t work out and don’t talk anymore, but I still love listening to this song. I’ve always had a strong taste for adventure and exploring the wilderness and this movie makes me want to go out even more.
Quando Assisti esse filme em 2007 mudou a forma de como via a vida... Nem imaginaria que hoje 15 anos depois, estaria me preparando para se mudar para um ambiente junto a natureza com minha esposa e dois filhos. Obrigado Deus!
Such a powerful movie, fabulous soundtrack. As a mom I do feel sorry for his parents though....they weren't perfect (none of us are) but they loved him, a few postcards would have been nice.
benedito damasceno amo esse filme e baseado em fatos reais assisti ele uma única vez quando eu tinha 9 anos nunca más me esqueci queria saber onde eu posso assistir ele novamente
Also when the truck driver reluctantly gave him a lift to the end of the road. And he ended up giving him his boots. Deep down that driver knew the kid and those boots were never coming back, but those boots would give him a few more days.
