I think Eddie has done more inductions than any other person, so for the people who have so much shit to say about him, if he really was as bad as you “think" then he'd not have been given the honour to do so, so many times. Think on that maybe. I personally love the man & his music, if its not your thing & you don't like him, it's no cause to bash somebody you don't know in life. Opinions are after all opinions & people should only be so passionate about facts.

I have been a fan of Pearl Jam since 1991 and have the pleasure of seeing them twice. And I don't know how anyone can be a Pearl Jam hater or an Eddie Vedder hater. The guy is real genuine and sincere.Not rock and roll hall of fame material,they were hall of fame material ten years ago.Talk about great songs, I can't even count the number of great songs they have put out.I am 58 so I grew up with a lot of fantastic bands and I think Pearl Jam is eqaul to any of them.

The Doors were certainly one of those upper-tear bands, along with the likes of The Who, Beatles, Stones, Zep, etc. They were great song writers, musicians, and arrangers. And they were considerably trend setting. Hate them, love them, could care less, matters not. They are hall of fame.

Oh, wow, isn't Eddie just so dreamy & cool??? After all, talking about taking acid in 1993 & using the F*** word.......wow!!! It was even cooler that later that night when he sang "Roadhouse Blues" with one of the greatest band ever to walk the planet Vedder forgot the greatest line of the song ("The future's uncertain..."). Manzarek corrected the hack who had one job to do and screwed it up. No one was expecting any singer to be Morrison, but if Vedder was not one of Ertegun's puppets this never would have taken place. Another reason to see Vedder for the two faced jackass he is. He play's mr. anti-establishment but here he is at the most un-rock & roll place in the world. Vedder is the male Alanis Morissette-whiny, bratty & egotistical who made his name on controversy instead of talent. Ugh.

The Doors are one of the greatest groups ever, and yet they don't get the recognition of bands like the Beatles. Which is unfair. Jim Morrison will always be better than John and Paul. And their music will always mean so much more. R.I.P Jim and Ray. Two fantastic and inspiring musicians.

I don't think the Rock and Roll "establishment" were ever comfortable with the Doors or with the Doors success or with the Doors mournful yet beautiful music. They were simply too heavy for the critics and Rolling Stone magazine snobs who resented that they could be so mysterious and also so wildly popular at the same time. So they have been snubbed in many ways. And in many ways the Doors were the last ones to care about their snubs and rivals. They were true to themselves.

At my pre-induction physical, I was the only one of a hundred inductees who refused to drop my boxer shorts to allow the doctor to palpate my privates. An orderly approached me and repeatedly threatened me with arrest but I refused. Then my then girlfriend betrayed me her help to get a letter from a teacher to help me get a C-O status. I yelled at her and a police squad car drove by just at that time and the cops arrested me. At court my now ex-girl friend came to court, laughed at me and then tried to get me convicted but I was let off. Then as a C-O I was forced to work 40 hours a week, 15 months in a row w/o pay. In retaliation, I stole all the food in the cafeteria that I could sneak out in my pockets and lied to nurses in every department that I was working in some other department allowing me to sneak out and catch a movie at the local $1 theater almost every afternoon and nobody caught on. Now, today, you can buy a coat made in the People's Socialist Democratic Republic of Vietnam. It was a crazy, nuts time back then and it's crazy and nuts today too.

Eddie is the Jim Morrison of today. He has deep insight, compassion and love, and honest lyrics that everyone can adore and enjoy.

That was actually an awkward induction speech - not much laughter except the last bit. Rays speech was amazing - wish Eddie has chosen a different angle, it was alittle off in my opinion -

Actually, no it isn't. It's clearly stated that Eddie is giving the induction speech here. The remaining Doors members (or any other band being inducted) has the opportunity to say their thank yous. That's how it works.

It's strange to think that the debut album was actually recorded in the summer of 1966, but not released until the following January. Is that sort of thing typical, or was it so at the time? It must have been nerve-wracking for them to wait so long for the album and single (Break On Thru) to finally appear in record stores, knowing all along that Elektra might drop them if it didn't do well.
