@@oneshot2028 If you are asking why Eddy Merckx was the greatest bike racer of all time, all you have to do is look at his results. 5 time winner on the Tour de France, 5 time winner of the Giro d'Italia, 3 time winner of the Vuelta a Espana, 3 time World Road Race Champion. In 1974 he won the Tour, the Giro AND the World Championship all in the same year. That's been done only one other time since then, by Stephan Roche, back in the 1980s. Merckx also won just about every one day Classic race on the calendar, including Milan-San Remo 7 times, Paris-Roubaix 3 times, Liege-Bastogne-Liege 5 times. The list goes on and on. In 1971 he won 54 races, an astounding 45% of the races he entered that year. All these stats are from the biography "Eddy Merckx: The Greatest Cyclist of the 20th Century" by Rik Vanwallenghem.
525 victories, no-one else comes close.....one of the greatest sportsmen in history and certainly THE greatest bike rider. It looks like he will own that benchmark forever.
@@alaindumoulin2751 Doper ? Read about the allegation of doping in the 68 Giro and you will find there was some underhand goings on from someone who didn't want Eddy to win, it is well documented. The next year in the 69 Tour De France Eddy hammered everyone, and insisted he was dope tested at the end of every stage, he was negative throughout but still won the 1969 tdf by almost 18 minutes. Enough said ???? With 525 career victories Eddy will never be surpassed.
