When I was a country music DJ in Australia in the 1990's I played this song a lot. All instruments were played beautifully, especially the pedal steel guitar with it's haunting Hawaiian sound. Of course Eddie's voice was perfect.
In 1990 I heard this song on the way to work one morning. I was surfing radio channels and stopped when i heard the tune. I've been a Country Music fan since.....though I've struggled with some of the country music over the last 10 years.
I cannot believe that this song is not played more often. This is a beautiful song and Eddy does a great job. My wife of 55 years, who passed 3 years ago, and I loved this song. Now I play it and sit with tears, but I still love to play the song for me to hear and remember.
I lost my husband of 46 yrs. Nov. 2020, loss is so very difficult! I enjoy this song, first heard it on Pandora a couple of months ago, now I play it quite often on Utube!
I was a couple months shy of 15 when this song was released in April, 1990. From the first time I heard it until now, there's been something about it that haunts and captivates me. It makes me long for a lost love that I never had.
I am 1 year from 80, South Texas boy and always loved Cajon music before the name became peopular, and of course country music. Raven has great voice, the picitures are great, yes I've been in the Islands, and this is an outstanding vidio. Thank you Eddie. My late wife loved this song.
My late brother's favorite classic country song. 1 year anniversary since his departure and I miss him even more than ever 😓 I could do anything in this world to bring you back, Shine. I. Miss. You. So. Much. Rest in Paradise.
My deepest condolences to you for your loss. I know - (from experience) how deep the heartache can be...mine has never healed. God Bless Your brother - and heal your ache.
I had forgot about this song. It just has such a nice sound and relaxing melody to it. I hope one day we return to these classic country songs that actually meant something. It’s quite a shame what’s happened to country music today. Today’s artists basically sing hip-hop or something.
This is a genuinely beautiful recording. The soft hawaiian melody with the sadly romantic lyrics really resonates and captures the listener's emotions. Great work by Eddy and company.
Because Nashville has decided to go with what they call the 'next generation' of music, I don't even listen to my FM radio. Seems like most of the country stations are all into this new wave country. I refuse to listen to that crap. It's music like this and artists like Eddy Raven that I listen too. I can plug my I-Pod into my car stereo and listen to what I have on it's thousands of files. Beautiful song Eddy. You are the best!!!!
I know exactly what you mean. The music has lost it's heart, feeling. The "music" now all sounds the same, can't tell one song from another. Technocrap. Wish we could turn the clock back.
I agree with all of you 100%. The country music out there is nothing but pure crap. These so called singers don't have any feelings on how to sing country music like Eddy Raven. His music and words definitely come straight from his heart. His voice really hits the country sound and also a little rockabilly and his love of cajun. That's why he is my fourth favorite male country singer and I will always play and listen to his music. Thank you Kelly Moyer.😀🎻🎸🎶🎵🎼
I really like this song. I used to listen to it all the time and then nobody played it anymore. I finally found it on a record. I don't play it as much now but it still brings tears to my eyes. Someone I loved "sailed" off and never came back. I still hear from him and he always says he's coming home. After all these years I know he won't.
This is one of his prettiest slow songs that I have ever heard by Eddy Raven. It is so soothing to hear this one that he co-wrote that you want to get up and dance with the one that you love or walk along a beach. BEAUTIFUL SONG!!!!!!!!🏝🏝🏝🏝🏝🏝🏝🏝🏝🏝🏝🏝🏝🏝
Great song, I've often wondered why Eddy never made it real big. Real nice guy.....easy on the eyes. He sings a different genre of music from the contemporary country you hear today.
Can you see it .... Beautiful night wind blowing thru the tiki torch lights in the distance .Waves caressing the shore as you walk the white sandy beach ....look up ,you see the night blue sky with silhouette of clouds with a gliss of stars at it's best peaking thru .You see the Southern Cross, beauty is at your reach ... Images of the past are present now ..... just enjoy ..
Many night after the evening hunt I sit at camp and play this song at the ranch and think of the one I lost. Drink till I fall asleep....Lord my youth messed that one up.
I love this song, yes I trusted my heart to the only man I will ever love but there is no fooling myself, I may never see him again. This song breaks my heart.
I will get to see you once again in new Boston, Texas and it's been such a very long time. Something like over 20yrs. ago. And oh' what a good show and your music is just outstanding. For some good reason this song is my favorite. I will show you my country music scrapbook and you are in there from those years ago. Have a safe trip in and you will have so much fun doing this show and my brothers and sister will be with me THERE. Can't wait!!!
Ever since the wife and I visited New Zealand many years ago now this song always reminds me of our vacation there..Beautiful tune...Thanks for posting the nice pictures as well as the song...Cheers.. Wayne..
the original video is awesome, the song...so true...lost love, lost time but always the memories, i'll never forget you...there'll never be another you...alone with my memories i am....
rascal flats makes me appreciate that i have a button on my car radio to change the station and i will hit any button as soon as i recognize they are starting to play. in fact i will hit the a m button when they come on just so i don't have to hear them on another station. the only band that is worse is the rapper jason aldean
Excellent video, I agree with dupressfan223 comment. I've been to Hawaii and this video brings back some good ole' memories. I'm from the midwest, I don't see scenery like this very often. :)
There was a time There was a place I loved That was my moment That's just the way it was Careless and crazy Running to, God knows where Now where is that heartland? Where is the one who cares? I can hear you calling Wandering boy, come home soon I hear the music I see your face in the moon Who am I fooling? There's no need for me to pretend I might sail forever And never find that island again I fight with my mem'ry Find all the pieces I can Of a beautiful woman Who trusted her heart in my hands Now what kind of sailor Would let such a dream get lost? Tonight we'd be sailing Out under the southern cross I can hear you calling Wandering boy, come home soon I hear the music I see your face in the moon Who am I fooling? There's no need for me to pretend I might sail forever And never find that island again Who am I fooling? There's no need for me to pretend I might sail forever And never find that island again I could sail forever And never find that island again
Great song, I forgot about this song until i was looking for "Who Do You Know in California." I miss good country music, very few artist today sing country. TAYLOR SWIFT is NOT country.
@thamathmatic Seriously? You think Taylor is country? Rascal Flatts...NOT COUNTRY either. You might like what is being played on country radio today(thats fine), but that isn't country music. The steel guitar has all but disappeared in todays music. :(
