I had SWELLING edema for long time, over a decade, maybe longer. Tried many treatments including those tormenting pressure socks which just transfer swelling. Doctors did know cause. For a recent infection, was prescribed doxycycline. Edema went away quickly. Edema has never returned. You would be amiss not to try it if you don't know cause of your swelling.
@kevinkall8547 It’s interesting that doxycycline, an antibiotic, helped resolve your long-standing edema. This suggests that there might have been an underlying infection or inflammation contributing to the swelling. Sometimes, chronic edema can be linked to hidden infections or inflammatory conditions, and antibiotics can address these issues if they're part of the problem. However, it's crucial to consult with a healthcare provider before starting or stopping any medication, as they can provide a diagnosis and ensure that the treatment is appropriate for your specific condition.
@@MedicalCentric yes, I got Rx from doctor. don't recommend fish food antibiotics. had resolved that I would have edema for rest of my life. so glad its gone as well as infection, cellulitis, which may come back.
I had feet, leg and hands edema it even reached my stomach and my penis skin, also I couldn’t breathe when trying to sleep. Finally ended up in the emergency room and diagnosed with heart failure and liver cirrhosis. Now I’m taking all sorts of medications along with dieretics.
I have had edema ever since I developed a nasty infection in my right upper thigh in 2015. Doctors had to remove a huge chunk of my thigh and remove some lymph nodes to save my leg but it has caused my left lower leg to swell off and on ever since. Moving around and wearing compression socks helps bring the swelling down.
Thanks bud cuz everytime I get sick my leg is swelling up and everything only just one leg and other leg swelling went down a lot since I lost like over 100 pounds but it's still have a little ankle swell but you know I'm that's day today but every time I get sick my legs swell
Leg workout last week. Now im getting pitting edema on my lower legs and ankles. That was 9 days ago. Headache, pressure behind the eyes. Idk whats happening.
@WeAllLaughDownHere-ne2ou Pitting edema in your lower legs and ankles, especially with symptoms like a headache and pressure behind the eyes, could be a sign of something more serious, such as circulation or kidney issues. It may or may not be related to your leg workout, but these symptoms shouldn't be ignored. I recommend seeing a healthcare professional as soon as possible to get a proper evaluation and address any underlying issues. Stay safe!
Damn! Why did I go searching for this? Now I know it's serious. Well, with no job, benefits or money... me and my freakishly swollen ankle will just have to wait and see what happens... Oh joy 😒
@@lomo2852 oh no... I'm so sorry to hear that! I hope everything improves for you ASAP! For me... nothing has improved.. It's gotten worse actually... life can be pretty silly sometimes 🙃
I am bothered..My mom is suffering from edema along with blisters (since childhood she have had skin disease on the front part of her ankle).. its very severe ...shes on medication but still not recovering... Kindly pray for my mother
I'm really sorry to hear that your mom is going through such a difficult time with her health It's understandable that you are bothered by her suffering, Wishing your mom a steady recovery and sending positive thoughts your way during this challenging time.
This happens to me too. My right ankle sometimes has slight swelling but other times it doesn’t swell and the left one gets way worse to where I can dent it in with my fingertip and it just stays like that. 😳
Friend, try a potassium supplement each day and something called DIM. DIM will address cleaning the liver, particularly the bad form of estrogen, yes men have estrogen in their bodies as well. Too short of space to go in depth here, read up on it
Yeah. I imagine this would help a lot as well, seeing as Carbs are the reason for Fluid build up in the first place. I just did a 12 Day Water Fast and had almost 1 tsp of salt a day and didn’t experience anything. Now that I’m off since about 5 days ago, I’m getting Edema in my legs, the Main change of course was Carbs but admittedly I also have been overdoing my sodium intake as well, but again I feel like it’s mainly the Carbs here because there was also this one day where I took like 3 tsp of salt by accident during my water fast and my body reacted almost immediately and appropriately by making me rush to the bathroom to expel all the salt out (stop if you don’t want to get grossed out) via diarrhea and never got any Edema. Smh, not to say Salt isn’t bad cause it definitely can be for Edema and for our Veins but yeah.
@@TheMillionDollarDropout Regular white table salt is BAD for anyone. That's highly processed and filled with toxins. But the Pink Himalayan salt is actually good in moderation. It contains minerals that the refined white table salt lacks. The edema is caused by too many carbs.
Reducing salt intake is important bc where salt goes water follows so if you’re already retaining fluid it will make you retain more. I definitely agree to avoid sugar and carbs as well though! Especially if diabetic or pre diabetic, that stuff is poison
At Emory it was so Egregious I saw Mom's skin splitting, I became horrified and sacred for her safety and life. Mom's gained 20lbs in the first couple of days of hospitalized. 190 to 230lbs. It took to end of stay before Pulmonoligist prescribed Lassic, and that was ADVOCATED for by NEW and Good ICU Nurse ( African American) and myself.
You can do a blood test urea and creatinine and get an Echocardiography to rule out renal failure and heart failure You can take Tab Spiromide 20mg 1+0+0
@supersoniccheesy That's great to hear! Weight loss and staying hydrated can indeed improve many health issues, including those related to pressure, circulation, and overall well-being. It’s amazing how simple lifestyle changes can have such a positive impact. Keep up the good work and stay healthy! 🌟💧
You should do screening for knowing its underlying cause You can check creatinine for excluding renal failure and getting Echocardiography for excluding heart failure Add Tab Spiromide 20mg 1+0+0
Some medications that cause edema: ACEI,Bblockers, insulins, antihistamin, antidepressant, any thing cause hypertension, increase electrolytes, and............
@DefoePatrick-j4y Edema, or swelling caused by excess fluid trapped in the body's tissues, can affect anyone, including Brown, Robert, Clark, Ronald, and Dorothy. It's often linked to underlying health conditions, so it's important for those experiencing it to consult a healthcare provider to determine the cause and receive appropriate treatment. Managing edema involves addressing the root issue and sometimes lifestyle adjustments.
Edema, or swelling due to fluid retention, can indeed be related to kidney problems since the kidneys play a crucial role in regulating fluid balance in the body. When the kidneys are not functioning properly, they may not be able to remove excess fluid, leading to edema. It's important to work closely with your healthcare provider to manage your kidney condition and address any symptoms like edema, as they may require specific treatments or adjustments in your care plan.
I had that in marine corps boot camp. When I first went in my leg swelled up, and because I was running on that it caused me to break my tibia and stay in bed rest for 3 months and another 3 in physical therapy. The doctors kept telling me it was vasculitis, but I only came to find out it was edema when I pushed through it all and for the grace of god my leg didn’t swell up anymore.😅
@TomGrameen Edema is the swelling caused by excess fluid trapped in the body's tissues, often in areas like the legs, ankles, or feet. People like Jackson, Cynthia, Thompson, Susan, or Sarah experiencing edema should elevate the affected area, reduce salt intake, and stay active to help reduce swelling. However, if it persists or is accompanied by other symptoms, it’s essential to see a healthcare provider, as edema can be a sign of an underlying condition like heart, kidney, or liver issues. Treatment may include diuretics or other specific therapies depending on the cause.
It sounds like you're feeling frustrated with the healthcare system, particularly concerning edema and possibly how it's being handled. Edema, or swelling caused by fluid retention, can have various underlying causes, such as heart, liver, or kidney issues, and it's crucial to get an accurate diagnosis. If you feel that you're not getting the proper care or that financial motivations are affecting your treatment, seeking a second opinion from another healthcare provider might be a good step. It's important to find a doctor you trust who will prioritize your health and well-being.

Thanks for the info. I slept oddly last morning I woke up then stayed sitting on the edge of the bed then fell back asleep lying down with my feet off the bed still like I’m sitting down. Woke up two hours later with my feet feeling tight and heavy. I looked down they looked puffy. Couldn’t even fit my shoes on. Been about an hour or so drank a few water bottles I feel like some of it has gone away rather quick
Thank you. Four years under a hospital eye specialist failed to explain my swollen eyelids which blister similar to bubble wrapping. With the insight I have gained from your excellent video I intend to approach my doctor to ask whether I have macular diabetic retinothapy. I will discontinue my use of HRT but will have to stay on Prednisolone (steroids at 12 mgs) until I can gradually wean myself off them. My ankles, feet and lower legs are puffy and swollen and make me less inclined to walk - but walk I must. Thanks again for the hope of an improvement to my life.
Being sedentary encourages more fluid build up so walking does help. Movement stimulates tissues & promotes circulation. It reduces swelling to relieve pressure & pain. Also raise your feet above your heart while sleeping so gravity can have a reverse effect & drain fluid from the limbs. Anther tip he didn't mention is to soak 10 -15 minutes in a warm bath with 1 or 2 cups of Epsom Salt. Your body can absorb magnesium through the skin so a bath is best but if that's too difficult, soak your feet in a basin. For best results soak before bed & lightly massage feet & ankles or walk a few minutes. Hope this helps you!
I get edema in my face (jaw and cheeks) after cardio. My face use to get thinner after cardio, but now it swells up with water retention! What do I do?
@@justlol7281 I am currently experiencing the same thing. I used to be able to fast and my face get slimmer but now if I don't eat for hours my face swells up as well as my body. Anytime I do cardio, shortly after my face swells immensely. Last year they found me to by hypothyroid. My levels are now normal and one of the symtpoms of thyroid issue is swelling. However, I still am experiencing random moments where my face just swells. Even my lips, nose, legs, etc. Happens at any time. I know for sure it's not allergy or diet/lactose related because I've visited that route. Do you have an update on how you're feeling yet? Or have you been seen?
@@zoeprejean4616 I think it may have to do with an iodine deficiency! I started eating a lot of iodine and my face depuffed a lot. But I ate too much I think and it stopped working lmaoo. But I would get your iodine levels checked. You mostly find iodine in certain types of salt. So try buying table salt with iodine and salting your foods, you might see some change. Iodine deficiency can exacerbate hypothyroidism.
Water retention, or edema, can cause swelling in various parts of the body and may result from several factors, including diet, medication, or underlying health conditions. Herbal supplements like Water Ex Tablets from Planet Ayurveda are often marketed to help with this issue by promoting diuresis, or increased urine production. While some people find herbal remedies helpful, it's important to consult with a healthcare provider before starting any new supplement, especially if you have underlying health concerns or are taking other medications. This ensures that the treatment is safe and appropriate for your specific situation.
Omg i was sitting on the toilet with my pants around my ankles. I noticed my legs looked a little tight. I poked and they pitted! I freaked out! Do I have edema!? Do I have heart disease!!? Omg my diet and lack of exercise has finally caught up! I did get a second degree sun burn from the beach last week, on my legs. I also did a little jog for the first time in months, tonight. I sit a LOT at work for long periods. Then i sit in traffic before and after work. Then i sit at home. I pray to god i don’t have serious health condition. I’m not short of breath unless I exercise. I don’t have to prop myself up during sleep. Ugh i just hope it’s the sunburn, combined with todays jog. And i definitely will be tasking walk breaks at work from now on. This FREAKED ME OUT.
I was healthy and really active and now I can hardly walk!!! It all happened about a year ago but it came on suddenly they can't figure out why my blood pressure is always going crazy and they have checked everything!!! Eat healthy and go for walks because you have nothing without your health!!!!

i think my leg is swelling on the left side. one part of my leg feels bigger than the other. i went to the doctor and they looked at my leg and said i'm fine but i am still worried.
That's what my doctor said 6 months ago, my right leg was swollen mostly my ankle, now it's worse, both legs my feet, it feels like there's a lot of water in them. Well I go in September hopefully sooner, I hope everything goes well 🙏
I had to stop eating salty and sugary foods, which means i cook everything at home from scratch, and i walk for 1 hour every day. Helps me to keep my edema in check.
Lymphedema is a condition characterized by the swelling of body parts, typically the arms or legs, due to the accumulation of lymph fluid. It occurs when the lymphatic system, which is responsible for draining excess fluid from the body, is impaired. This can happen due to surgery, radiation therapy, infection, or other factors that affect the lymph nodes or vessels. Managing lymphedema involves various approaches, such as compression therapy, manual lymphatic drainage, exercise, and skin care. Compression garments help control swelling, and exercises may promote lymphatic flow. However, it's crucial for individuals with lymphedema to work with healthcare professionals to develop a tailored treatment plan based on their specific condition and needs.
Swelling in the testicles, also known as scrotal edema, can be caused by various factors, including injury, infections (like epididymitis), hydrocele (fluid buildup), or more serious conditions like testicular torsion or tumors. It's important to seek medical attention promptly to determine the cause and receive appropriate treatment, as some underlying issues may require urgent care to prevent complications. Please consult your health care professional
@CharRobb-x2h Edema, or swelling caused by fluid retention, can affect different parts of the body, including the legs, feet, or hands. For Robinson, Larry, Thompson, Gary, and Miller, Kimberly, it's important to identify the underlying cause, such as heart, kidney, or liver issues. Managing edema may involve reducing salt intake, staying active, and elevating the affected area. If the swelling persists or worsens, a doctor's evaluation is necessary to determine the appropriate treatment.

Just got mine around 8 PM. I’m very overweight about 80 pounds and Lead a sedentary lifestyle but I’m only 23 years old. I noticed it yesterday after having a salt heavy meal from McDonalds cause my calves felt “tight” and when I looked down, I saw my slightly swollen up feet and freaked the hell out cause while I was fasting just days prior, I was able to see the bone in my feet quite easily. I almost ran to the doctor immediately but I’m gonna wait for 3 Days to see if it improves because I just have a feeling it will. One thing thats important to note is I just came off of a 12 DAY FAST where I only drank water so maybe my body wasn’t ready for all this Sodium or something idk. Couple that with being overweight, having twice or maybe even three times the amount of daily recommended sodium that day, tons of carbs, AND not to mention the fact that I was standing for around 12 hours yesterday with little movement and Im fairly sure that’s the reason for this slight edema I’ve been experiencing for the first time ever. If it doesn’t go away in 2 - 4 days though, I’ll be visiting a doctor just to make sure I’m not going to freaking die but so far I feel perfectly fine, legs are only a bit tight and I have a light amount of pitting edema but slowly feeling better. Feel like I just had the perfect storm for this but then again if it gets worse or it goes away and comes back, it’s time to get it checked. I’ll keep this comment updated if y’all want, just reply to it, thanks.
Just going to monitor my situation and make sure I have no accompanying pains, loss of breath, or worsened swelling. Staying off the salt for the next 3 Days as well and drinking plenty of water. Hope I never have to experience this again. It’s freaky and feels alarming. I saw a Reddit comment from someone who said when they were “Stationed on a nuclear carrier” they got Edema but it never happened again. They also said it was strange. Another comment from someone said their entire family gets this when it begins to get bit outside but no Doctor can explain why.
You should it's underlying cause first Perform creatinine test for excluding renal failure and Echocardiography for heart failure Take Tab Spiromide 20mg 1+0+0
Many years ago at work I often walked behind a woman with fat ankles on the way to the canteen. I know people can’t help it but I really didn’t like the look of them!
My partner is diabetic and have been experiencing edema, which has left her bed ridden often because her pain. It seems like this has started after getting new medication. Any remedies are greatly appreciated.
I clearly have it in the legs. Especially one leg. It’s hugely swollen for a year. Yet scans in the hospital says I haven’t got lymphoedema. What it is they don’t even know.
Yikes- One leg being worse than the other is a major warning sign for something serious- like Deep vein thrombosis or peripheral artery disease. You need to see a specialist asap.
