So interesting thing about sushi is that it’s not always raw fish. For example sushi containing things like eels, crabs, shrimp, or clam are often cooked. As for why it’s safer to eat raw fish as opposed to other raw meats, it’s mostly due to a few factors. Choco: it's because machinery that's harder to fully disinfect grinds up ground meat, but sushi is cut with easily sterilized knives/boards. If you grind your own meat at home in a grinder that you've sterilized, you can eat a rare burger without fear, but you don't want to trust store bought ground meat.

Actually.. Germans eat raw meat. The dish is called Mettbrötchen an fairly common and tasty and I can safely say that I've never gotten sick nor did any relative got sick because of it. Obviously there are strict rules about the preparation and what not
