This chick can really sing-great emotion, control and the range as well as stage presence. Obviously well trained and a broadway star! This song should be in every B'way wannabe's repetoire.
Saw this show & if possible she is even better in person. She hit that last note & I got teary eyed with chills. Hated the show but bought the CD just to hear her SANG!!!
Wow, this recording sounds so different than all the others I've heard of her, and I love it! I mean of course I love them all, but even if it was just mic quality... wow, this is fantastic! She's really one of a kind :)
Mainly because we'd all be out of practice if we didn't sing every day. That, and the live voice has a way more powerful presence on stage. It makes things believable.
me too! everyone tends to pick idina b/c she was the first elphaba, i love her but there are better voices than hers. but she is great as well! but this song just blew her out of the water!
no. as a singer, i can tell you that your throat does not move that much when you lipsync. they edited the background sound, but if you look at her throat right above the turtleneck (especially during the high notes), you can obviously see her vocal cords working. hard. i really hate when people criticize others of lipsyncing without knowing at all...
One tell-tale sign that this is not the recording is the way she pronounces her vowels at certain points in the song. You're absolutely correct, though. This is not the recording.
it's a video clip ^^ in the bridge there would be so much noise... and are you seeing some piano there =P!? but she was singing how should be, but it was edited later with the music as background ^^
I know because I'm learning this right now and i tried it in the original key and then i tried it lowered in Diana's key and the lowered was like a peace of cake. * Note I'm really NOT trying to brag just wanted to make a point.
well actually yes it does make a huge difference. If the song was in a lower key then it makes the song sooo much easier even if it's just a half a step. I mean don't get me wrong it's still a hard song to sing but it's sooo much easier if it's lowered.
Well lets be fair can you blame her for lipsyncing?!!!! She's has a show every night, some days she has two! It takes so much effort for people to belt and sing this high, she probablly didn't want to blow out her voice for that nights' show! God people are so critical! Just chill out!!!
i have to say that i like this version but i do preferr diana's to this. Its a matter of opinion really because i feel diana reaches for the high notes effortlessley(is that how spell it lol) so it makes it more enjoyable to hear diana and she has a softer tone but the camera work on this was awsome(2.53) lol. Peace out people. I would appriciate that no one judges my opinion.
well considering she was flat on the word "never"...she wasnt "lip synching"....but she is still INCREDIBLE! and I love her more than anything...her talent is one to be tested
If you think this sounds exactly the same as the cast recording you need to get your ears checked. I have the OBC album and it does not sounds exactly like this.... just listen at 1:42 the way she sings miracles and the way she sings it on the obc recording and you'll notice the difference... that is one of the many differences between this and the cd.
Oh I wasn't blaming her for lip-synching, far from it ! I think it's actually to her credit that she's not too convincing when she does it -- proves that she's used to *actually* singing. And you're absolutely right, she has to protect her voice.
That is NOT from the Cast Recording. She takes different liberties, just listen. And the back up singers aren't all the original actors either. I actually think it's live. She can't be that good of a lip singer. She's phenomenal and used to sing at Amusement Parks with all kinds of crazy weather, she can do it, she's crazy like that.
Umm, I know all Macy's day performances are lip synced. I never said she wasn't lip syncing. I said this is not the same as the BKLYN Live! recording. If you listen to this & the recording you can hear all the differences. It's obvious this was lip synced... she's outside & there isn't any noise. Her pacing is different, her intonation is different. Actually if you start both songs at the same time around 1:50ish the recording falls behind. I never said she was live.
Well yeah, it's obviously lip-synching, but we all know Eden can hit those notes everytime, so for once, I d'ont mind -- and we get to see her perform with the greatest city on Earth in the background, so that's a great plus.
This is kind of sad. Usually for outdoor performances and parades usually record a new track, but for this one, they just took it from the Cast Recording
But as an understudy your job is to sound like the original member UNTIL you are the lead then you make it your own. But they hire you like you said for you thinking that when they get to be lead then you will make it your own
ummm no its not dubbed dude...dont u know about technology??? shes really singing...they wouldnt do a live performance like...i know the tv ways...they have microphones all around...u cant see them...cuz they are called flies...they ignore them...and they have them above her and around her
this woman is amazing!! But she is obviously lip-syncing .. beccaauuseee she is umm singing outside on a bridge.. and you can tell from how much more passion she puts in it in the live one
i dont like her with short hair. deff better with long and she is deff singing because she went flat a couple times but its ok cuz this is a rediculous song and she is amazing
If she is lip synching why is she wearing a microphone? Why would they go to the trouble of fitting her with a microphone if she was just going to lip synch?
she is lip synching. this is the exact cast album recording that i have. and live, she sings it differently every time but here, she sang it the exact same way it is on the album ... *hmmmm*
